Jeez, yesterday I bought COD4 and tody I completed it!
Short game, wasn't it? You may want to try to replay it at a higher difficulty; the game will take longer to beat and you'll also be able to unlock some additional single player achievements.
When I purchased my Xbox 360, it came with a copy of Marvel Alliance which is great since I'm a marvel fan. To my surprise, my wife is becoming something of a Marvel nut after seeing the X-Men movies, and she enjoys the cooperative player gaming.
But does anybody have a clue as to how to beat any of the solo 'comic' missions? I've tried three of them with absolutely no luck!

It's been a while since I played the game, but to the best of my recollection it helped a lot if you used the hero in question in the main game first, leveled him/her up a bit and also leveled up some of their special powers. Once I did that that, I was able to breeze thru the respective comic mission for that particular hero.
I still have MUA, it is a fun beat-em-up and I still plop it in from time to time. BTW, when you're playing the actual game, you can give your players a boost by assembling and playing as teams from the comics (ie: the Avengers, the X-Men; the Fantastic Four, etc.)
Thanks! That's been my plan, trying to get Captain America beefed up so I can give it another go. There are a lot of solo missions which will require a lot of game time with each character.

The way the game is set up, you do need to play thru it a few times to get all the characters buffed up enough for the solo missions. I went thru it twice, leveling up my favorites ( my Iron Man is frighteningly powerful ) ) but I still haven't beaten all the solo missions; maybe someday...

To my shame, I haven't used Iron Man all that much. At first go, he had no repulsors, and I was never a big fan of the new armor, so I spent most of my time with Captain America. He's gotten pretty strong, so replay on the game is almost pathetic when he throws his shield and mows everything down in his path.

The game lets you unlock multiple costumes for each character; just be aware that each character's special abilities must be leveled up separately for each costume.
Captain America's solo mission was a bit tricky because in addition to having to fight Winter Soldier you also had to turn off some consoles at just the right time. I took me a few tries to get it right as well.
BTW, I've been playing around more and more with DiRT the past few days. It's an offroad racing game with lots of different types of vehicles and styles of play. The control is on the floaty side (which is standard for these games) but after a few races you quickly get a feel for it. The career mode is actually proving to be a lot of fun. There's five different levels of difficulty and the different game modes really mix things up so you rarely get bored with the racing. Some races are just you against the clock, others are against other cars. The terrains also vary - pavement, dirt, etc. And the vehicles range from rally cars to buggies. The graphics are also top notch, with a near photo-realistic look much of the time. The game is also selling for $30 or less so if you're into racing it's actually a pretty good bargain.

I'll keep an eye out for it. My wife loves the racing-style games, especially the off-road ones. What she really wants is a steering wheel add-on for the console but the only one I've seen was ringing up at $100.

That would probably be the Microsoft Wireless Racing Wheel. $100 is pretty steep; sadly it's pretty much the only racing wheel option available that I'm aware of. Be careful about that one as I'd read that some early models could, under very rare and specific conditions, heat up and actually catch fire.
If your wife likes off-road racing games, the other high-profile title is Sega Rally; which should be selling for around $40; it's gotten some good writeups but it doesn't have nearly as many tracks, vehicles and features as DiRT. You can find demos to both games on Xbox Live so make sure to try them out before taking the plunge.

I'm pretty sure they did a power cable recall for it just like they did on the Xbox 1, so I don't think you should worry about those problems.
I picked up Gun for the 360 a few days ago, it was only $15, and after watching 3:10 to Yuma I really wanted to play a Western. It is a pretty great game so far. The story and voice work is great, the gameplay is fun, and the setting is perfect. The graphics aren't good, it was, after all, a launch title that is basically a glorified Xbox 1 port. However, this is a fun game, and definitely worth the price of admission.
Also picked up Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 for the Xbox 1. I remember loving the demo, and it was only $4, so I thought 'why not?' Haven't played it yet, but I will soon.
I've been playing Burnout Paradise today - fun game.
The open-world aspect is quite daunting at first but soon starts to make sense :v
By the way - any AJBers fancy PM'ing me your gamertags?
I tried the demo to Burnout Paradise a couple of weeks a go. I was a bit put off by the absence of an option to restart/retry a race - since it's an open world game, you have to drive back to the starting line. Does that become problematic after a while, or does the rest of the game make up for it?

At first, I found this frustrating, but I soon realized that the beauty of the open-world environment was the fact that if you lose a race, there is always another event nearby. That way, rather than drive back to the starting-point, you can simply do another event, and retry that one whenever you are driving past the area again :007)

Thanks for the info; I've heard similar comments from other folks but I feel better hearing it from a fellow AJB'er. I've long been a Burnout fan but wasn't sure about this one; I just may pick it up in the next couple of weeks.

I think the best burnout was the first and second one- the point of those was NOT to crash, and I kind of liked that. I don't get any pleasure from crashing into other people, I just like high speed highway races and good physics.

Given the absolutely blistering speeds that the Burnout games play at, crashing at some point is pretty much a foregone conclusion. But even in the later games, the crash mode is only one part of the gameplay. When running an actual race, one or two crashes will effectively kill any chance you have of winning, especially at the higher levels. And when doing the Burning Lap segments, you have to be pretty much perfect to get the gold medal.
I still have a soft spot for Burnout Revenge on the 360 (was actually playing it last night). The environments are really detailed, the sense of speed is palpable and the action is frantic. The ability to check traffic into your opponents may not be particularly realistic but it does add an element of strategy. There's a randomness to the game's traffic patterns which can be frustrating at time but I still think it's lots of fun.
As for Paradise, its hook is the persistent world you race in - somewhat similar to Test Drive Unlimited in that regard - and the ability to seamlessly go from single player to online. I've never been particularly good at open world games (too much stuff to memorize) and that's one of the reasons I've not picked it up yet. But it is getting very good reviews and word of mouth so I just might take the plunge.

Which 007 games are Backwards Compatible? I just bought EON today only to find out it doesn't work! I could have sworn I had seen it on the BC list before. So can anyone give me an official list of what works?

For the Xbox 360 only Nightfire and Goldeneye: Rogue Agent are backwardly compatible. The remaining Xbox James Bond games will not work on a 360 at this time.
FYI, this page lists all Xbox games which will work on the 360:
Well, it only took me nine and a half months, but I finally got around to finishing the single player campaign in GRAW2. I took advantage of a free weapons upgrade download that was recently made available and was able to blast my way thru Acts II and III in pretty short order. I actually wound up enjoying the game quite a bit, once I relearned all the controls to command my squadmates and other assets. I'll probably go back to it at some point and try it again at a harder difficulty.
Been thinking of picking up Turok for the 360; the demo was only so-so but the original Turok for the Nintendo 64 is still a classic and one of my favorite games. While this new iteration has only gotten good to fair reviews, I may still give it a spin.
There's some new downloadable content coming for Mass Effect in a few weeks; it looks like we'll be getting a new mini-adventure for Cmdr. Shepard and his cohorts. Here's a link to more info and some screens.

I don't think those new weapons were any better than the original ones, Tony, I'm quite sure you could've beaten it with the old weapons.
Also, I'm excited about the Mass Effect DLC, that'll be fun.
Tony, did you try the Devil May Cry 4 demo? I found it to be a lot of fun, I may pick up the game at some point (it is getting pretty good reviews).

I'm sure you're right; the new weapons were just the excuse I needed to pop the DVD back in.

Looking forward to it myself; although I've read the entire quest will only last about 90 minutes. Also from what I've read, after you download the new mission, you need to load up a savegame before the final battle with Saren; supposedly, you won't be able to fire up a game you've already beaten and start from there.

I tried it last week. Pretty fun demo and really great graphics but I wasn't wild about the fixed camera system that was used. I know that's standard in all the DMC games but I sometimes found the sudden changes in camera angles confusing and I'd end up going back and forth between the same two areas over and over. Don't know if I'll get it right away; I may wait a bit.
Also tried the Turok demo again; played it all the way thru and wasn't impressed at all with the graphics (very flat and murky) or the weapons. Even the pulse rifle, one of the most powerful weapons from the original Turok on the N64, had no kick to it. Definitely not worth $60 so I'll be waiting for a price drop on that as well.
I finally got a Xbox 360 Pro for Christmas, and three words, IT'S ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
1. Goldfinger 2. Skyfall 3. Goldeneye 4. The Spy Who Loved Me 5. OHMSS

Anybody heard of All Points Bulletin? It was off everybody's radar until GDC... and it looks AMAZING. It is like a Crackdown MMO, minus the superpowers. Cops and Robbers never looked this awesome before. Check 1up.com for videos. I can't WAIT for this game to come out.
There was lots of good looking stuff at GDC. Seeing as how much I enjoyed Crackdown, I'll definitely be giving APB a look when it debuts. I was also intrigued by Star Wars: The Force Unleashed; I'm always on the lookout for a Star Wars games and hopefully that one will be good. Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 looked pretty good as well as did Too Human (although the gameplay seemed a bit choppy). All in all, lots of good stuff coming out for 360.
BTW, my second 360 died yesterday. I was streaming a video when I once again got the dreaded red ring of death. Pretty strange since it hadn't been acting up at all and I hadn't even been using it all that heavily lately. This one's still under warranty so I'm covered by MS. Still, I didn't feel like waiting the 3 weeks for it to be repaired so I decided to go ahead and pick up a new console. After much debate, I went for an Elite, primarily because it's 175 watt power consumption is supposed to make it run cooler. We'll see. HDMI out is very nice however, everything is visibly sharper and more vibrant than component and VGA. Once the original is repaired I'll either plug it into another TV or sell it.
Also been playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for the PS3. Really good game in the Tomb Raider / Raiders of the Lost Ark vein with a nice blend of action and puzzles and a very well written and voice acted story. I beat the game yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sorry to hear about your second 360, but good job on the Elite. Having HDMI would be nice...
Too Huma was looking a lot better than it had recently, and is back on my watch list. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has already been preordered, as I loved the first one, although honestly this is more of a full priced expansion pack than anything else. As for Star Wars: FU (haha), it looked way too early to make any decisions. I would've liked to see actual gameplay as opposed to tech demos.

Ah, the impudence of youth. ) Seriously though, I have seen some pics and videos of actual gameplay and it does look pretty good. It remains to be seen how it will control. BTW, I've been reading that the Wii version of the game will be vastly different from the 360/PS3 iteration - it will have simplified graphics (obviously) but will allow you to use the Wiimote as it if were a lightsaber. That may merit a second look at the Wii for me.
I've also been reading that a lot of people have been putting raised rubber feet under their 360. By doing this, you supposedly increase the flow of air (and thus ventilation) around the console and also dampen the vibration of the DVD drive. I may just pick up a set (they sell for about $2 at Radio Shack or Home Depot) and try them out.
