Any film is better than DAD!
(Its third last on my list; only TLD and AVTAK are lower.)
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
taity, my dad brought up the issue of Fatima's death. The note thing I agree is contrived so Bond can use the rocket pen but I happen to be a fan of the movie and you aren't which is fine!
You're right. I did use it as an expression. I could have postively described DAD (given that I consider two films to be worse) but I refuse to given DAD any credit at all!

Again confusion, If you say you have the potential to descirbe DAD favourably, isnt that giving it credit.

No. The only way I could describe DAD positively is by saying "I really hate that film but at least it's better than TLD and AVTAK." That would be like saying "Person A killed 14 people, but hey, person B killed 16 people." That's not exactly describing Person A positively.

The 1969-73 era, we had three different Bond's in three ace films.
Loads of you are going to hate me for this but to me:
Moonraker- I don't see whats so bad about it. Its in my top 5 favourite bond films. I know it was nothing like the book (which i liked)and I know Jaws acted like an idiot in it, but i found it entertaining. And i loved the final battle at the end. And Hugo Drax was a real nasty character.
Tomorrow Never Dies- A really great action packed film. Its my favourite Brosnan film after goldeneye. I didn't really like the ones after. I know a media baron trying to cause WW3 might seem unbelievable, but it didn't bother me.
Licence to Kill- I know it didn't feel like a traditional bond film, but Casino Royale didn't feel that way for me either, and i loved that as well. It was action packed and i liked the story.
Living Daylights- Yet again i liked the story and how the fighting parts in it as well. Felt bad for the guy who got blown up in the doorway.
A View To a Kill- The film isn't action packed, but i still liked the story and found it entertaining. It might be though as that was one of the first bond films i ever saw.
There are many Bond movies that deserve more mention but don't get it. These include:
1.OHMSS-I simply don't get the weird aversion some have towards George Lazenby as Bond (my dad hated him). Not to mention this is one of my favorite Bond films, also because Telly Savalas made a very good villain. Lazenby handled the role very well in my opinion, and again, this is a pivotal point in Bond's life. He gets married and she is murdered, and this is mentioned throughout the series.
2.LTK-In short, this Dalton Bond film simply kicks ass. Sanchez is a very cool villain who doesn't hesitate to kill whoever talks back to him. 007 himself seems somewhat stronger here, and the movie in general is a solid and hard hitting entry.
3.LALD-Roger Moore is a very good Bond, (though I don't yet have a favorite; hard to choose) and comes off as sophisticated and cool as ever in his first turn here. The "baxploitation" setting in Harlem was also an interesting setting for the movie. Very good entry.
4.Goldeneye-Pierce Brosnan's debut is very good as well. Sean Bean as Trevelyan and the fight scene at the end also rock.
5.Man With The Golden Gun-Another good Roger Moore one, and Christopher Lee is unforgettable as the cool Francisco Scaramanga.
Number 1 most underrated is AVTAK, it's just so enjoyable and entertaining, yet people always seem to emphasize on it's faults more than it's good points IMO. A top film and I never get bored of it.
LALD is slightly underrated as I personally think it's the best Bond film but a lot of people dislike it. However, many also like this one too, which is why it's only slightly underrated. Same applies to LTK.
TMWTGG is slightly underrated too. One of the least popular films, but I would rank it somewhere in the middle personally. Has some really good things going for it. But also, it's nothing special either, which is why it's only slightly underrated.
Really though, AVTAK is by far the most underrated Bond film IMHO.

I couldn't agree more. Just last week I was watching AVTAK and I enjoyed every minute of it. Max Zorin is one of the best villains of the series, there is many diverse locations, and a lot of mind boggling stunts. Its actually not bad at all if you look past Roger Moore's age.
Always thought LALD was underrated. It's a great film to bring in Moore's Bond. Moore's performance is excellent and the voodoo backdrop is interesting. Even though it's been dubbed underrated so much it's in danger of becoming overrated I have to put OHMSS here as well simply for the fact that some people still won't watch it because it is 'James Bond can't get married' and Lazenby is 'inferior'. So many people overlook this film which is one of the greatest in the series.

I definitely agree on AVTAK. Excellent Roger Moore Bond and Christopher Walken rules as the villain! Pure psycho coolness. Very underrated and cool Bond film, and I'm surprised some people rate it so low.

Wait, Im confused. How can you say any film is better than DAD when you go on to list ones that are worse? Surely they cant be better.
Yes, Dan might have used it as an "expression".
Hmmmm, well I was right ! {[] )
Again confusion, If you say you have the potential to descirbe DAD favourably, isnt that giving it credit.

TLD isnt underratted, except by Dan San - its generally in most peoples top ten.
