As much as I love Indiana Jones I do vaigly remember the last one to be called The LAST Crusade !!!!

Yes but the title was referencing the Crusades, a historical event. It was not stating that it was Indy's last crusade. Hence AND the last Crusade, not Indaiana Jones' Last Crusade ;)

The pic of Karen Allen is shocking, positively shocking (couldn't resist ;) ) I can't believe how good she looks

The Last Crusade was my fave and a good way to end the trilogy. Sigh, why are good trilogy's ruined. Eg. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard etc.
I don't think that Die Hard (and to a lesser extent Lethal Weapon) was ruined by the latest installment. I loved Die Hard 4.0. :D

Back onto topic; I think that Karen Allen looks really nice. She actually looks like a real woman :o, rather than a plastic doll that masquerades for a woman in Hollywood these days.

And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman

I had consoled myself that she was properly stuck in that smiling pose because her face was frozen with botox :v

However, after watching the the interview with the gang at Comic Con ... I think she's properly just a great looking woman.

:)) And here I was thinking she was a cheerful woman. :))

She's terrific. What I love about her is that not only is she genuinely good looking, but her lack of glamour is perfect for a film like this. I don't think that a model would suite this film and so I think that having someone with Allen's natural and realistic beauty is a great move on the part of Spielberg and Lucas.

He's great. He's in another up-coming film that I'm very much looking forward to seeing; Beowulf.

I saw him in an episode of the 90's detective show Sharman last night. It was fun seeing Winstone and Clive Owen back in the days before they came to the attention of Hollywood.

    Slightly OT but...

This month Young Indiana Jones (Vol 1) makes it onto DVD. Paramount is sticking to their customary DVD (Amazon lists the price at $90.00) price gouging like they do with the Star Trek Series. You know what stings? Vol 1 only has seven episodes of the actual show...the rest is all 'bonus' featurettes about the various historical figures and events in the show. What is it with these guys? X-(

I'd love to see a bit more young indy but it is quite hard to get over in the UK. There are a few old vhs copies and thats just about it unless you catch one on tv which is about an age ago! X-(

Which are regarded as the best Young Indys? I've only seen a few and they were very dull and slow affairs- I understand that it may have a got a bit more fun and a bit more 'Indy' towards the end- perhaps the Peacock's Eye one?

As much as I'm looking forward to this I think it's a real shame that John Rhys Davies hasn't been given a cameo. Also, it's sad that Indy won't get to have his traditional punch-up with the late Pat Roach. The fight in Raiders with the plane spinning around them is a classic. I also love Pat Roach's fight with Sean Connery in Never Say Never Again.

I never quite got into that young Indy television series either.

That was definitely something that was missing from 'Last Crusade'...we never got to see Indy go mano e mano with an intimidating brute. Indy as the underdog was something that made the Flying Wing fight sequence so fun!

It's good that they're bringing a new film back, but why after 18 years?

Oh yes, Karen Allen....well there's one reason to watch this new flick, and Harrison...he aint even passed it yet...well not quite!

Bit miffed that Connery didn't return for this one, who is his replacement?

Sean Connery? John Rhys Davies? Denholm Elliott? Pat Roach?

The Last Crusade's my all-time favourite film.

This new one's going to be tough to like...

Filming wraps today everybody!!! I can't believe after waiting for this since I was 10 years old, Indy 4 will wrap filming today! It's an almost surreal event for me, and many others I'm sure.

But that's a heck of a lot of post-production! The film comes out in late May, that's some eight months off! :o

The film started shooting in late June - about 3 months is normal for principle photography of a film, isn't it?

Besides, this gives them eight months to make sure it's flawless!

I read a brief interview with Steven Spielberg over at Yahoo.com about the new Indiana Jones movie. I'm paraphrasing here (because I'm too lazy to find the link) but Spielberg says that the movie is being shot on film (he steadfastly refuses to go digital like Lucas) and that he's trying as much as possible to avoid CGI for this one. He's really going old school and while there will most likely be some CG work to hide wires and such, most of what you see will actually have been shot in camera rather than done in post-production.

Well this new film is set in 1957 and features Russians as the villains.

So perhaps Indy can be seen flicking through the novel From Russia With Love, which was first published that very year. :)

Hmm, there could be a reason why our hero is under the hat in the publicity shots... a look at Film Review this week and a pic of Ford in another film due out, and it's clear that he'll need a Connery NSNA toupe for this comeback...

I wish the family business from the Last Crusade was never green lighted. I prefer my Indy solo, and mysterious.

Yeah, the old man can still look badass. The shots do look good and, unlike what I've seen of Batman: The Dark Knight so far, they feel right.

Awesome pics! TonyDP's right, Jones is still looking good in that second pic....I can see the movie tagline now: "If grumpiness has a name, it must be Indiana Jones."

IGN has put up the poster to the new Indy movie; click on the link to be taken directly to the image (it's a biggie).

I like it but it's not the best-looking of the franchise. Nice touch to silhouette him in front of the glowing skull.

May 22? Coming out within the same month as Iron Man. Cool.

And they're both Paramount movies. Speed Racer debuts in may as well, although I think it'll have an uphill battle against shellhead and the archaeologist.

Lovely that poster, isn't it? Quite Temple-ish, and I suppose not quite as a good a composition, but it's a proper Indy poster.

Uhh...not so sure about that, Tony. I mean guys like you and me who grew up going to see the Indy films will do so again probably a few times over for the familiarity and nostalgia factor but like DieHard, it's been away too long (in Indy's case even longer) so there's the chance that the box office take will be somewhat generous to moderate at best.

Iron Man & Speed Racer are fresh projects and if they are, at the least, halfway decent films, expect the kids alone to flock to these and make tubs of cash.

I think that it's up to IJ4 to prove that he's still got it and recapture what, in our eyes at the time, made it so endearing and awesome. Kids that I and/or my son know either know Indy or don't or don't care.

Now I could be totally wrong about this but I believe that Speed Racer will do much better than one might think.

In either case, I'm ready for a trailer. ;)

You may be right about IJ4, I was thinking the same thing a while ago. Nostalgia will drive old geezers like us but it remains to be seen if the younger generation will embrace it. The TV series tanked, Ford's last couple of films haven't been runaway hits and even Last Crusade quickly ran out of steam and finished second to Batman back in '89. Having Shia Lebouf in it should help with the teenage set. It'll be interesting to see if it can recapture that old box office magic.

I'm not so sure about Speed Racer though; the trippy FX and wacky characters just might be a bit too bizarre for mainstream audiences. I loved the cartoon when I was a kid but it just didn't hold up when I saw it again as an adult. The trailer left me feeling very neutral. While I didn't positively hate it, I also didn't see anything to get me excited about the movie. The dialog sounded positively silly, and the guy they got to play Speed doesn't appear to be the best actor around. And the Wachowski's track recond hasn't been exactly stellar lately; first they gut their Matrix franchise and then The Invasion (which they did the rewrites for) sank as well. Add it all up and I'm still thinking Speed Racer will have an uphill battle. But, as always, time will tell.
