Wow! :D Who is the guy holding the two guns? Also, were you responsible for all the pictures on the magazine cover?
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman

Glad you like it, Dan. Yes, I did the initial artwork on the cover, a buddy that works for Viper Comics did the graphics design for me. I was trying to set a mood.

The guy with the guns is a pretty disturbed hitman... :v

I'll admit that it isn't BATMAN: The Long Halloween but I like how one of my colorist friends handled this one. Anyone think that Nolan will let him get this colorful?

The background is a nice touch. B-)

Very nice indeed Rogue and no I don't think Nolan will be that colorful.

A question for you if you don't mind. Do you think people are born with a natural talent for drawing or is it a skill that can be learned? For the record, I can't draw a good stick man.

Fantastic. {[] You mentioned that a colourist was responsible for the colouring. Does it require different skills to instill the colour?

    Sadly no. :#

Rogue might have a different answer but I think that people are indeed born with a natural talent for drawing, although they will develop it as they practice more and more. My mother is a terrific drawer (not as good as Rogue though) and I believe that she's always possessed the the ability to draw. On the other hand, I've never been good at drawing and I doubt that I'll ever become a Picasso. ;)

Thanks, guys. Glad you like it. I drew this sketch in my car while waiting on the wife to come out of the beauty salon last week when she said she'd be out and wasn't. :s
This particular colorist just asks me for pics to help him hone his skills with his program. I'm always glad to oblige his craft. He's getting better though.

As for the artist question, Dan touched on alot of what I was going to say. No one in my family could recall of another member down the line having artistic talents. In my family, it's mostly scholastics that shine through talentwise...sort of skipped over me a tad in that field :D .

I was about 6-7 years old before my parents realized that I could draw so where it sparked, I couldn't tell you. However, I think that it's in the genes because of my son doing it since he was in daycare; he might be better than me or not up to par. It depends on how much heart he's willing to put into it.

It's like anyone of us here has the ability & maybe heart to write a book but the real talent is in the quality of the story-telling. ;)

I bet, Barry, if you put your mind to it, you could do what I do but at what level I cannot say. Art is too subjective anyway. :)

That's a great Two-Face you drew up Rogue; probably one of my favorite drawings of yours. I also like what the colorist did with it, especially the statue in the background.

    Thank you. :)

Well as for your question, I guess I could've if I had the appropiate program running on my pc. Problem is, I'll eventually have to re-learn how to color since it's not actually coming from my hand. I mean I miss the days of the old school printing that you could see the little dots from the screens - it's not like that anymore so I'll get with the program soon enough. Personally, technology is slowly taking the power from artists. You know that you can ink comics via your pc now?

Until I do, I'll just color through God-given talent, paint to get my desired effect and keep the tech stuff to a minimum. ;)

I think the episode was called The Ultimate Colorist ...err... The Ultimate Computer :))

Say Rogue, that brings up an interesting question: we all know how talented you are at putting flesh and blood characters to paper; but how are you at drawing inanimate objects - like say the USS Enterprise. :v

You're way behind, Tony. Back in elementary school, I charged a buck each a month to draw Star Trek comic books for all of the Trekkies in my school. Made up my own stories and everything. No joke.
My sister still clings to a couple of those old copies and won't give them back to me. I remember doing the Space:1999 comics around that time too but that show was already an acquired thing really... It didn't take. :D

I could sketch that ship with my eyes closed. If you're looking for the Picard version I can do that but...I'm too loyal to the original. B-)

Space: 1999 eh? Spectre and I are big fans ourselves.
As to Enterprises, I'm a classic Trek kind of guy myself. Next time you're noodling around with nothing better to do, I'd love to see what you can do with the old gal. :)

Thanks, 'Nique! I plan on doing something very shortly once I get caught up. ;)

Had a touch of insomnia last night so I stayed up to work on another comic character of mine to work on once I've sent my other comic to the printer.

Here are some bad cellshots of the cover that I'm currently doing. This creation of mine is more sci-fi/horror in a way.

BTW, I did two stories in an anthology for Speakeasy Comics with Mike SanGiacomo a year or so ago before they went defunct. Looks like it finally has a home with Image Comics and at this date is scheduled to come out sometime in '08 if things go well...and with my luck I hope that they do. ;%

Wow. I know the focus is the skeleton, which is very cool..but I can't take my eyes off the folds in the jacket..especially the sleeve!!! The shading is truly amazing. You can FEEL that fabric! Wow.

    Thank you, 'Nique. :)

Actually that's what I was trying to accomplish. Really not an easy thing to do, making fabric look touchable, but all worth it when others notice it. ;)

Once everything is in place I can concentrate on re-tooling this concept and get to work. I have another project that's a short story someone wants me to do.

:)) :)) Let it go man.

Seeing as it's the Shat-Man though, I think it should be more like "You. [dramatic pause] Suck." ;)

Nice work as usual Rogue. I can think of a few Trekkie sites I know of that would really appreciate it.

Rogue I am going to tell you this one more time, you are really talented and I wouldn't just throw that compliment out there. Quite a blessing to have your skill.

Keep us up to date on the comic, I would be happy to support your work. I do get into comic stores every now and then.
