Thanks, Alex & Pen. Yes, I had quite an imagination back then and with age, they get cornier and cornier ) . I still cherish them though.
Pen, I really love your picture but if I could give you a word of advice, please practice on drawing different styles of eyes.
Seeing that the eye holds alot of the character a person embodies in portraits, you're cheating yourself & the viewer of a good composition when you ignore putting them on a face.
Take time out to just sketch nothing but eyes for a week or two in all shapes and sizes whether you wing it on your own or cut them out of magazines for reference. Just draw them. Chronicle each one you do over a two-week span and you should notice a gradual improvement.
Don't worry; this is a common phobia many artists have depending on the body part.

thanks for the advice, Rouge...it's true. I am terrified of drawing eyes.
Wow.A big thank you to everyone who was kind enough to offer some comments about the drawings I recently sent to RogueAgent.Okay, two weeks isn't "recent", but I only learned this evening that they'd been posted on this thread.Honest-the old computer's been acting up.And as a result,I haven't been leaping around from forum to forum as much as I once did.
Anyway,as Mo noticed, these things Rogue posted really are just "sketches"-- minus the kind of rendering necessary to give them a more elegant appearance.I seldom like my own drawings, but I'm humbled that many of you do.
Oh I didn't mean anything by the word sketches! No matter what you call them, you have a great deal of talent! Everyone on this thread does!
Mo,please understand that nothing you said bothered me--honest.Your perception is right on the money! The drawings I sent Rogue really are roughs. However,I'm working on something for him that'll hopefully have a more polished look.Believe me--I didn't take any offense at what you said at all.And agreed, everybody Rogue's kindly shared this thread with is talented.

I was commissioned by one of the top level execs at my place of work to do a portrait of her toddler niece for the girl's birthday so I was under the gun to get it done in time. She was pleased & in tears and paid me plus added a little bonus. I only hope that the parents are just as happy with this gift. I wouldn't want the baby girl to grow up, look for me and punch me out for painting a poor rendering of her.
I had to put three different pics together; two of the child's face in which on both she was in motion and a picture of the red dress she was going to get for her birthday as well. I had to paint the dress on the child so that was a little challenging.
Now there are alot of women up here who want me to paint portraits of them and/or their kids...until they hear my price that is. :v
Well here are a couple of quick cellphone shots of this huge illustration. Let me know what you think.

Hey thank you both.
Darenhat, I heard everyone at work say the same thing but she took care of me really. I mean this woman drives a friggin' brand new Maserati and pulls down a hefty salary; I wasn't going to get short-changed. )
I could've charged her considerably more but she's genuinely a good person with everyone in the workforce here. No need for me to abuse the situation but I feel good when my abilities make others as happy as she was.

Well,my book is being inked and lettered (trying out a couple of guys) with my script but I have one page left to pencil for completion of a couple of guys here. I want to get their likenesses right respectively.
Here's another non-spoiler page of Contorno & Cevario squaring off sort of. Hope you likes.

I was doing a dry run on likenesses for my book and had a little fun with this AJB member's sketch.
Well...he liked it. ;%
BTW, I have more Willie Garvin art coming up soon. B-)

Indeed. And it's much more preferable to being fed to the sharks. All that's missing is Halle Berry as my personal yeoman.
Yeah, I'm sure you would like that. :v
Here's another quick shot of another AJB member looking hardcore for his cameo; I kept feeling compelled to give him a porn-tasche to add to his years but decided not to for fear of it looking too stupid on him... Let's just say, in this scene, that he and Tony are "putting on the bold front." {:)

I did the Sci-Fi Con this weekend in Richardson; there was alot of cool talent there like Joe Jusko, Herb Trimpe and Tim Bradstreet.
Here are just a few cellphone shots that I got from the two-day affair...
A Guy Gardner wannabe...
One of a few sketches that I did. Here's a Luke Cage fan:
Here's a Ultimate Fury sketch that a fan picked up the next day...
And this Doc Savage didn't get lucky enough to be bought...
Just thought I'd share with you guys.
There were two guys dressed up in Spider-Man 3 costumes black version and regular...problem was that neither one had on underwear and were both weirdly...revealing".
Not worth a shot even on my cruddy cellphone...but I immediately thought of Dan Same.
I had to buy a new scanner last week but I'm going to post more Willie Garvin artwork as I said I would.

And a for that Guy Gardner wannabe, I'm trying to think of an appropriate comment but words just fail me.
He kinda looks like the priest in Gran Torino. )
Great work as usual Rogue. {[]

What, no pictures of scantily clad superheroines or groupies reading Shylock? I'm very disappointed in you.

Number 3 isn't quite ready for printing; it'll be a week or so but I sold out of the first two issues in one day. I brought generous amounts with me too. Only one older guy bought a pair, the rest were the 20+ crowd telling me that it was the most attractive indie there all weekend.
Very very nice Doc Savage Rogue, too bad kids these days don't know who he is. Is it me or is there a little Daniel Craig in there?
Thanks, man. Yeah, what's worse was there were some who didn't even know who he was.
I never saw Craig's likeness at first but now you might be onto something.

?:) I'm sorry, but I have no idea what that has to do with Spiderman or with me. ) (BTW, that stature looks pretty similar to the one at my Uni. )

What part of the body are YOU afraid of drawing? :v
Oh, I'll admit, I hated drawing in perspective growing up. I tried to avoid backgrounds such as buildings and the usual surroundings any chance I got.
I'm glad I got over that but even to this day, it's still a pill to do.
