Some spy pics of Bond driving the new Ford Mondeo in the Bahamas (no idea why they took so long to appear) here:

Perhaps because the new 07' Mondeo wasn't officially unveiled until today, at the Paris Motor Show? Not that it's stopped motoring magazines publishing such photos in the past. Unless, of course, they're Ford's photos.

Nice looking car though, big improvement over the bland outgoing model.

That's the thing- they look very much like spy shots. Could they be fake spy shots by Ford? How odd.
These are also in the new Auto Express- I saw them yesterday along with pics of the Paris Mondeo (which is still officially a concept car I think- these shots are the first of the new production version of the car) but didn't realise they were from CR. This is the ST model, just as we were expected 007 to have.

It's very handsome, though, isn't it? Especially from the back. Looks like a real quality car.

It must just be me -- this car, like so many others, looks like a slightly streamlined Accord with a short trunk. Why do so many cars nowadays pretty much look the same?

It looks like a rental-quality car. It's no wonder that Ford is laying off thousands of workers and offering early retirement packages to others.

Well as everyone is critiquing the car, here is my take. I believe Ford of Europe is actually profitable, and as this car is not intended (at least in the immediate future) for the U.S. market trying to link it to Ford's financial troubles, which are primarily in N.A. is kind of ridiculous.

To my eyes, this car looks as though it will be fully competitive in it's respective market segment and is likely to be very high quality. Think VW in terms of fit and finish, and not at all like the rental car quality as you describe it.

I have seen all of the pictures a few days ago in hi-res shots, and it is a quality piece of design done under the direction of one of the most respected designers in the automotive world, Martin Smith. Somehow I think he has his finger of the pulse of what good design is, especially as he basically laid the groundwork for Audi's current design language when he was head of design there.

You might not like the look of the new Mondeo but that doesn't mean it is crap quality, especially as all you have to judge it by is a couple of pictures.

I think it is a very professional looking design, and I hope it, and CR are very successful.

Bashing the quality of the New Mondeo at this point, is sort of like people predicting DC would be crap based on a couple of early photos or his ride up the Thames wearing a life jacket.

Just to add, Eon as we know are trying to reboot the Bond franchise, and Ford is essentially trying to reboot their whole operation. Before we stick our boot in, let's reserve judgement until we can fully examine their new products. You never know you might be pleasantly surprised.

That's a good looking car. Too bad the US market will probably never see it. Just curious though M5 mentioned the "bland outgoing model" What model would that be?

That's a nice soundbite. Too bad it doesn't have anything to do with the facts.
What would you have a mass-market family saloon look like? Cheaper looking with fins?

As Shone has pointed out, this car is a product of the very profitable Ford Europe division. So your comment has some real unintended irony. You'll never see it on your shores anyway, so you don't have to worry about it being crap.

Oh, and it is a rental car in the film.

Considering that you've made it clear in other threads that you loathe everything about CR, Christianne, you're really starting to scrape the bottom to find new ways of being unpleasantly negative.

That would be this one, Mr Martini
It's certainly not a bad car by any manner of means. In fact, it's a joy to drive and in ST form (like this one) is really the dog's ghoulies. But its styling is 7 years old now and starting to look dull next to the competition. As for the 07 Mondeo, though the estate version was unveiled in Paris yesterday, the saloon and hatch versions won't debut until Geneva in March next year, so the film really is going to be its first show to the public.

It looks too much like it wants to be a Lexus. Bring back real styling, people!

Okay, Im a car fan but right now I havent been impressed with any cars that have come out recently.

The new generation of BMWs pale in comparision to the previous (ones Bond drove) All of the Fords have become near iddentical. Worst of all, a few years back (around 2004 or so) down here they went through this habbit of being fluro coloured.

It may just be me, but in the next movie Id like to see them give Bond a nice sports car from an older generation - like Shelby Cobra, a mustang, 507 ect.

Wait until they come out with the new 3 series... it is absolutely gorgeous!

The 745Li was the best looking seven series, and the new fives have grown on me, although I like the old ones better.

I drove a Z4 for three years (now I've decided to be practical . . . which is not as much fun as it sounds). I liked the handling and styling, mostly because it was distinctive in a sea of cars that all want to look alike to compete for the same consumer.

Thanks M5. That looks like a Focus. I'd have to agree, it's styling is dull now compared to when it was unveiled a few years back. Maybe there's hope for the US market and the Mondeo.

Umm.. there isn't one is there? The current one is only just out, surely? I've seen the new coupe out and about and it is the visual definition of 'meh'. I'd agree the previous BM's were much better- excellent proportions.

Not Mondeo related, but on the subject of the Ford/Bond tie-in nonetheless... There's a full page ad on the rear of The Sunday Times today for the Fiesta, in the centre of an ice-blue gunbarrel with the caption "Licenced & Loaded". Generic Bond logo (silhouette pointing gun at reader) is on there, as is the Casino Royale logo.

Had a brief look on Ford's UK website, and a banner along the top with the rolling dots take you to this. Not very exciting, sadly. That's about the limit of Bond promotion on their website, an S-Max in the gunbarrel.

Yes; I thought I mentioned that here but obviously didn't for fear of dull comments that the film will stink because there's a Ford ad in it or the gunbarrel poster looks awful etc.
Here's a crappy phonepic of the poster on the window of my local garage:

This is quite an interesting feature on how they got the Mondeo to the film set- apparently it had to be hand-built etc.:

Saw the UK TV advert for this, this evening. Pretty much the trailer, with a few more scenes I recall and then the car towards the end of the ad. I didn' t know what it was for at first, as in was it a pure trailer or a tie-in piece.
