There's a series of commercials stateside, if memory serves correct for Geico car insurance, every take has a different celebrity and a regular customer sounding off, one of them has the "movie announcer guy" whose voice is unmistakable.
Ah yes, the commercial with Don LaFontaine. I'm not sure if it was Don in the CR commercial though.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

Yeah, it is.
Watching the spot again, I'm struck at how strange the voice-over sounds. It seems like they went out of style for trailers. You don't hear them as much anymore. I think CR could have done without.
Just curious...the guy who is doing the voiceover. Is that the same guy we're seeing on the Geico commercials in the USA? Where the lady tells her story about needing insurance and the guy is translating it in a manner for a movie.

Actually, no--there are two big Voiceover Guys. The older one, who you see in the Geico commercial, has a very deep voice. Then there's a younger guy, who not only did the CR commercial but who is also doing a Birdseye commercial and who made a personal appearance last year on Mind of Mencia to make fun of the big summer movies ("Herbie, Fully Loaded--with <BLEEP!>"). He has a slightly higher and more nasal voice--but the two men do sound remarkably similar.
OK, I officially now know too much about too little!
I missed the first showing on LOST but figured I see it soon and see what the hubub about cheesy announcer guy was all about. I thought as with DAD they'd start seriously running ads during the Baseball playoffs and Football games but haven't seen it pop up once. Has anyone else seen it on TV since it's premiere?

I stumbled upon this, apparently there is a second tv spot out there. Not sure if it has been posted already. Nothing is new (possibly the elevator shot), it basically takes the full theatrical trailer's footage and sets its to the "blunt instrument" "half monk half hitman" theme from the first trailer we saw.
I'm still yet to see a CR trailer on tv, but here it is:

What a massive improvement over the first one - better editing, better music build-up and no hideous voice over man! From the brief glimpse of M, she doesn't look too pleased, and perhaps it's just me, but like the US/British theatrical trailer, the dialogue seems to be a slightly different take to the teaser - particularly Bond's line of "I understand 00s have a very short life expectancy".

I saw it during Desperate Housewives Sunday night. I too am surprised it's not getting very much play. It does leave you rather flat though, cheesy announcer and all. That corny dialogue seems almost amateurish, like something a fan made on YouTube rather than an actual promo!!! The trailer is so much more exciting, the commercial just doesn't do the movie justice.
Saw the commercial over the weekend during the NFL games, also the MI3 DVD commercial. Thought CR looked cool, and MI3 looked pretty dull. But yeah, I'm biased...
