New book shows images of the torture scene

Yesterday I got through the post my copy of the new book 'The Art of Bond' which is about all the people behind the scenes of the Bond films - writers, directors, production designers etc. It has quite a few images of the new Bond pic 'Casino Royale' but the most interesting one is of the torture scene. It shows both a production designers sketch and an actual shot of Craig in his birthday suit strapped to the chair. It looks as though it is in some sort of tunnel but the image caption says it is supposed to be on a barge? The shot is very dark and moody and Mads is stood in the corner slightly turned away from Bond. Looks as though this is going to be a great scene and from the early reviews it seems as though the producers have taken it right to the limits for the fim certificate.
Also later on in the book the script writers Wade and Purvis discuss how the Aston Martin DB5 makes an apperance. It seems as though Bond wins this in a card game with Dimitros. Could this be where the baccarat game we are all hoping for comes in?
They also say that Bond will be ordering his famous martini just as written in the book (all the correct mixtures and that) and the line 'the bitch is dead' will feature at the end.
Anyway the book is quite good and has some nice new pics from the Eon archive. Would suggest giving it a look but the £30 price tag seems a bit steep. I got mine from Amazon for half that price if you want a good deal.

I've had this book on my Amazon wish list for months, so I'm glad to hear it's finally out there and worth getting - will anyone be nice enough to buy it for me?
@merseytart
The book can be ordered through online retailers such as Amazon, or can be picked up in a bookstore. If anyone wants to scan the pic and send it to you that is a private matter, but kindly don't canvass for it on here. The material is copyrighted. Thanks.

It really is an excellent book. Glossy pictures and a great insight into the direction and production.
Great to see some new pics of Casino Royale. I thought the torture sketches looked like it was in a submarine - though the real image does look like an under sea tunnel.
This book is well worth buying, informative without being crammed with some great photography - highly recommend it.
Not exactly fun for the whole family, is it. It is disconcerting and even sad for me to see a Bond movie try to take itself so seriously. Not even OHMSS and LTK ever sank to this depth. These films were always "fun" for me; this one doesn't look to be any fun at all.
Tony, that film about penguins is starting to sound very tempting isn't it? )
Oh yeah, big time. At this point, a film about the mating habits of the Giant African Snail would be more appealing than CR to me.
Personally I'd have preferred Vesper go the way of the book, but the film version might be quite powerful...

Depends what you want from a Bond film. If you want light-hearted humour, Carry-On one-liners, shallowness, OTT gadgets, good wholesome family fun, then there are plenty of Bond films to watch that offer this.
Me, I cannot think of anything worse. I loved the Fleming novels far more than most of the films, and this torture scene is what I have waited years to see. EON have finally plucked up the courage to remain faithful to a very significant scene from the novels, and a very significant moment in Bond's life. This is what Bond is all about, blood, nastiness, seriousness - a little bit more than a pigeon doing a double-take at a gondola on wheels.
What sarcasm? And if you've previously enjoyed Bond films where the main character shoots his lover dead; find his lovers with their necks cracked; his wife shot through the brain on his wedding day; hits women; is tortured by his ex-lover who gets off on the fact that he is forced to gain an erection through strangulation; threatens women with violence (but only after he's slept with them); slowly strangles a man with a poker; shoots a man through the eye with a speargun etc. I don't see why this is suddenly plumbing some sort of depth for you.
Sorry- is your username 'craig scat'? Or have I got the space in the wrong place? If not it seems obvious on whether or not you think Craig will be flushed with success in the role...
copywrite MGM blah blah blah
LOL ) its craig's cat
Anyway, what I found interesting is that, after I got through the pics of the Bahamas/Madagascar and got into "Montenegro," I began to see the novel come to life. I'd originally feared that the movie would retain Fleming's title and little else, but it's evident that, for the first time in decades, a Fleming novel is really and truly being filmed. That in itself is cause for celebration!

Ooh it's out there is it? Lovely. Oddly I find myself suddenly intrested in this one even though I hated the first. The pictures look really good this time.
