why did I read that as 'New Craig porno shots'?

First, thanks for posting, second I appreciate that you and others like Craig, but IMO, that first shot is dreadful. The fifth picture he has a remarkable resemblance to Steve McQueen. Who had the right look for many of his roles, but he would not have made a good Bond either, IMO.

I like them all very much. I think he looks gorgeous in them. Particularly liked the 4th one.

Yeah, the 4th one is a great shot.

Why didn't the Japanese teaser/Cannes banner actually use that picture of him, rather than over-exposing his eyes and digitising it? They made it look weird, whereas the actual shot is so much more superior.

His trousers have a very high waistband, don't they? :D

Superb shots, by the way. I don't think Bond has had a photoshoot this classy in many years, if ever.

Ah- but you can't see much of The Watch in that shot! :D

On the first he looks awful. He has to have the proper lighting to look good, but I guess the rest of actors did too (and the rest of the world). Particulary good on the second and fourth, the rest are ok.
I wonder if the PPK is just for publicity pictures.

I thought the same thing. Considering DC's toned physique, something just waist level would have been suitable if not sligtly lower. Unless it's a cummerband, can't really make it out

Sorry to sound dim, but is that "multiple faces" shot three pictures spliced together, or three mirrors reflecting one image?

I like 'em all. Very atmospheric and different than the usual Bond publicity photos, which I think tended to emphasize Bond's playboy aspects.

He just looks more like an Eastern Bloc villian than he does a British spy. Sorry. I mean they're nice attempts but visually Craig isn't close to being photogenic.Maybe that's why he's in shadow on most of these.

    Does resemble McQueen though.

I can't follow that at all. He's got very strong features and these photos are very strong also.

Hey, Em, if you like it then I'm happy for you- seriously; for me, at face value (no pun intended) he just looks so out of place. His acting prowess may compensate this though...

I never thought Craig looked all that great in still photos. He comes across fine, though, in motion pictures. That being said, I think these are pretty exceptional shots of him.

I must admit, however, I'm starting to become a bit crestfallen at that fact that he doesn't strike me as Bond at all. Over the past year, I just assumed that I would grow accustom to him in the role, but unfortunately the more images I see of him 'as Bond' the less and less I am becoming convinced. He simply doesn't look the part. I suppose I will simply have to stay away from these images until I can actually see the movie.

I LOVE the fifth picture. THAT is Ian Fleming's James Bond. Uh... in my opinion, of course. :p

Alas, I wish they'd just darkened his hair. Other than that perennial complaint, I'm fine with him, and these photos look very Bondian to me.

    EDIT: One should always proofread.

I notice on the posters they tend to give him darker hair (or crop it from the frame). It would appear that EON doesn't want to call too much attention to it.

Looks like three mirrors reflecting the one image to me, jetsetwilly.

I like all the pictures, the latter ones being particularly good.

It's a shame, really. Photos 3 and 6 suggest somewhat what Craig might look like with his hair properly darkened. The mirror photo and Photo 5 with a dark-haired Craig would look great.

Well of course. Probably best not to state these things as fact, then. Or try to stir things up.

At times I know what you mean- I wasn't entirely as won over by him in the trailers I thought I might be- but in these pictures I see only Bond. Funny, innit? :)

Oh, these are opinions? Wow, that explains a lot. No wonder I was so confused! There seemed to be an awful lot of contradictory facts in these forums. ;)

In my opinion, the photos are great. And that's a fact.

The mirror shot is a nice effect but I really struggle to get past Craig's weird mouth. He seems to have that 'tough' sullen pout in every picture and always looks a bit gormless to me. The picture of him pointing the gun at the camera may be the single worst picture of Craig ever. It looks like a still of some forty-seven year old actor from a 1976 British police series.

I actually did darken the brows (slightly) on the mirror pic, but not on #5. I'll try darkening them up a bit more, though.

Interesting note: As I was darkening the eyebrows on the first pic, DC started to look a little like Clive Owen!

He looks pretty good in that shot with the mirror reflections (BTW, very nice job on the hair Darenhat). No matter how many pictures and clips I watch however, I just don't see James Bond. I see a guy assuming manly poses and trying to look tough; but for me the suspension of disbelief never kicks in and I just don't buy into it.
  • NightshooterNightshooter In bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
Tony, I respect your opinion, but isn't "trying to look tough" a little harsh sounding? I can understand ugly or craggy, but trying to look tough makes it sound like he's a wimp. I'm probably reading into things too much, I apologize.

I see where you're coming from Night. I'm not implying that he's a wimp; not at all. All I'm saying is that despite the tough and intimidating poses I simply don't see James Bond; I just see Daniel Craig striking a pose. It's tough to put into words but they don't resonate with me. By way of example, I had the same reaction when I saw Brad Pitt as Achilles in Troy; he didn't fit the part for me and I did't buy into the illusion for a second. Sadly, that's the way it goes for me with Craig and Bond as well.
