I have a feeling you'll get an earful for that one. Just as an FYI, I saw the widescreen edition of BB selling for a paltry $7.50 at Target this weekend.

Alex...I...am...shocked. Haven't caught Begins? H-how could you not? It's on cable like 800 times a day. It's one of very few movies that should be a mandatory view.

But we can easily remedy this...

Now...which one is your home? :D

The cable bill had to go. I couldn't justify the payments. About the only channel I regretfully miss is TCM and Robert Osborne :(

My sympathies, man. You do what you have to sometimes.

I went without cable for a short while and I wasn't very friendly within the confines of my home... it's like a 20-year smoker trying to kick the habit. :D

Pick up the DVD when you can though...

Okay, in fairness to all of those who enjoyed DAREDEVIL, I have finally seen the director's cut courtesy of a co-worker who let me borrow it.

The film is more enjoyable than the theatrical version. Why this wasn't seen upon paying my money is beyond me but I guess it's the going thing to milk more out of the public by showing less nowadays... 8-)

What makes it a better film is the multi-layered aspect of it; I still think that Johnson's a mediocre comic book director though and the movie could've been much, much better.

I still hate the Avenger's Peel costume; DD's look should have been more closer to what is seen in the comics. The mask especially that ties up in the back is God awful. He's a hero that should've been given the Spider-Man treatment as far as the cosmetic is concerned.

    daredevil_big.jpg

Call me fanboy but my son & I have always been smitten with the crimson & yellow one. Yeah, it probably wouldn't take...

Jennifer Garner is miscast as Elektra still. Nothing Greek-looking about her but I understand that it's all about star power. Someone like Caterina Murino comes to mind when I think of the character or someone of that ilk with a more exotic appearance.

One thing that Johnson did that I cannot get around no matter how many times I watch this: the foreplay battle in the park...IN BROAD DAYLIGHT mind you where kids are witnessing a blind guy and a hot chick are playing ninja. :s

That alone would compromise Murdock's secret identity. Not something you'd see everyday in New York City.

I'm still not a fan of Duncan playing Kingpin but I do love the actor but the showdown at the end was just too short in either version. Johnson should've read the Bendis/Maleev arc as to show how it's done.

I sincerely hope that the hero gets another chance to redeem himself cinematically via a reboot as they're doing with Hulk now. There's still alot of material that can be used with him...even though he has the corniest bad guys in comics... Stilt Man anyone? :s

    All in all, I now give DD: The Director's Cut a ** 1/2 stars. It's better and I stand corrected...just a little. :D

From what I've read, the reason DD's running time was trimmed theatrically was to bring more attention to the Electra character. Jennifer Garner was a hot commodity at the time and the producers, for better or worse, wanted her character to be more prominent in the story as I'm sure they were already thinking of a spin-off. The extended cut definitely pushes her into the background a bit while fleshing out some of the other characters.

These kinds of compromises are part and parcel of adapting comics to live action; we'll probably never get a version of Batman or Superman or Daredevil that will satisfy everyone 100%. You hope for the best and pray that they don't muck it up too much.

Well...I cannot find anything controversial about Iron Man's look whatsoever. Favreau understands the little things like that because he's a comic book fan himself. To me, that means alot.

Now whether or not he's put together a tight package as far as a good movie is still up for debate until we something with our bucket of popcorn.

A collection of three Incredible Hulk set videos have been linked to here. The clips show some of the filming that took place at the University of Toronto recently.

The Louis Leterrier-directed comic book adaptation, starring Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, William Hurt, Tim Blake Nelson and Christina Cabot, opens in theaters on June 13.

What I find funny is that hardly anyone is talking about The Hulk. I think that this movie will do well but no one seems to care.

It's Bats, IM & Indy on everyone's to view list.

Ang Lee really jaded fans I guess. :))

That and the fact that there is so little info. It's supposed to be released next summer, but have they even started filming yet?

I do worry sometimes that we'll be getting too much of a good thing next summer. There are a lot of genre movies coming out and I hope they don't cannibalize each other's box office.

    :))

Please bear in mind, my Marvel stash is mostly when Stan "The Man" was running the show. The 70s was a great time to read many Marvel titles: Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, etc. They gave a darn then but nowadays... :s

Frankly Civil War has made me somewhat cold to them. I don't agree with the direction at all...

I still read Punisher regularly though. B-)

Sorry Rogue, but it's time for a reality check: Dolph Lundgren's Punisher was one of the worst movies ever made. The movie looked so cheap it must have had a budget of about eleven dollars.

His costume was ... oh wait, he didn't even have a costume!! Just a generic leather jacket and a stupid skull on the handle of his knife. I remember reading an interview with the director in Starlog when this piece of trash was in production; he was asked why they weren't using the skull costume and his response was "Well, the costume looks silly. The weapons he carries are his costume." That says a lot about how much that hack believed in the character and the book.

His soliloquies when he tried to talk to God with that stupid Swedish accent of his were laughable. Everyone repeat after me: Dolph Lundgren can't act!!!

Lady Tanaka had what has to be one of the stupidest lines ever put to film: "When your ancestors were shepherds still screwing sheep on the Mediterranean coast, ours were the crime lords of Asia."

You diss on Ghost Rider. You complain about Daredevil's costume. You put a bounty out on Superman's son. But you like this dreck???!!! What is the matter with you?? What happened to you?? Let me in!! LET ME IN!!! THEY WERE MY COMICS TOO!!!!!

Oh well, they really made some stinkers back in the 80's. As if Dolph the Punisher wasn't enough, we were also subjected to Captain America, complete with fake ears. And who can forget Fantastic Four, complete with the zipper down the Thing's back. It's a wonder comics movies have come as far as they have.

I used to own Captain America on laserdisc; like you, I figured it was better than nothing and there would probably never be any really "good" comics adaptations. Since Cap was one of my favorite characters, I bought it out of loyalty but other than that first sequence set in WWII, it was pretty awful. I ditched it years ago.

Nice Punisher BTW, but where's the knife with the skull on the handle; so that we really know he's the punisher. :v

Yes, great rendering Rogue, however, it needs a caption as only Lundgren can deliver," I must break you" :))

You guys are nuts but thank you. :))

As the kid and I were getting ready to head out for the day, we slapped in The Punisher dvd in honor of Tony's hatred for it. :))

I laughed about that rant all the way to work.

It's terribly cheesy 80s but just great to us; we can't get enough of it. The score, action nor the plot fails to disappoint. Just like you, Tony, when it comes to these older & poorly done incarnations, it's part loyalty and part nostalgia.

I honestly didn't think that comic films were going to get any better than Reeve's Supes & Burton's Batman at the time.

I've never really seen that FF movie in the early 90s (just clips) and I'll admit that I'm a little afraid to. :s
