Here he is. I saw a teaser for this on TV today, but I can't find it on Youtube. It's a movie called Missionary Man. The teaser said, "the return of the 80's action hero." All I could find was a clip. Note the minimalist acting style is still intact.
Dolph also directed, meaning as well as being an action hero, he is now also an auteur. Just how much talent can one man have? I HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE.

New Iron Man and Hulk Footage Shown in Germany!
Source: Ain't It Cool News February 11, 2008
Ain't It Cool News reports that new footage from Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk was revealed at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany (
Spoilers ahead!):
For IRON MAN we saw
the scene in which Tony Stark tests his Iron Man suit for the first time (in his garage). Of course this almost goes wrong. He speeds into a tunnel, gets out in the open and flies past a Ferris wheel. A malfunction in his suit makes him go higher and higher, almost leaving the stratosphere and running out of air. Then the suit goes completely dead and Stark falls to the earth. Just in time he manages to get his suit working again, making a mess of the traffic in the streets...
It was great to see the first footage of the INCREDIBLE HULK... What we saw
looked like the first official trailer. The scene opens with Edward Norton meditating. We see images of a lab, experiments, Banner escaping from the (Russian?) military (led by William Hurt and Tim Roth), running in the streets, kissing Liv Tyler, guns, shooting, more running… The 'trailer' ends with Abomination walking towards Hulk. Remember the end of Rocky III? Apollo Creed wants to hit Rocky in their friendly duel? That's exactly the way the trailer ends. Abomination wants to hit Hulk. Hulk wants to hit Abomination, but before it actually happens the trailer is over. Abomination looks like a Hulk with the Voldemort face from the first Harry Potter movie. A really mean motha. He sure is a great opponent.
I cannot wait to see this Hulk teaser! B-)

Cool! Thanks for the link Agent-M, I wasn't aware that they'd even started filming yet.

I had suddenly turned against this project after I'd heard Armie Hammer was playing Batman 8-) so perhaps the writer's strike was a blessing in disguise.

Star Trek and Justice League pushed
Date : February 14, 2008 Writer : Clint Morris
Two major blows for cinemagoers today: both “Star Trek” and the seemingly terminally-troubled “Justice League of America” have been pushed back.
In the case of the latter, Australia’s Herald-Sun Newspaper says that a 2010 start date, rather than mid-2008, is now being eyed. Apparently much of the cast have gone and booked themselves up this year, but more importantly, the studio has realised the film isn’t ready to roll. No big loss – except for Megan Gale who has just quit her day job [as a runway model] to become Wonder Woman [S******].
Meantime, Variety reports that Paramount is pushing back the release of "Star Trek" from Dec. 25 to May 8, 2009. The move was part of a major reshuffling to the studio's release calendar, as well as DreamWorks' release calendar. Studio insiders said "Star Trek" has the potential to gross more in May than in December. They’re probably right.

I am so happy to be reading this. The cast and story that was set to go before the cameras didn't appear to be all that impressive. It also really didn't make any sense to go into production on JLA with TDK so close to release.
If this is true, then it's a pretty safe bet there will be an all new creative team behind this if it ever comes to fruition. Hopefully they'll be able to come up with a better story and some more inspired casting choices.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see the sequel to Superman Returns get put on the front burner now; especially if TDK, Iron Man and the rest of the summer 2008 comics movies do well.

I'd read about this last night. I'm really disappointed but I can also understand their motivations. Initial word on the footage shot thus far has been very positive so maybe Paramount must be gung ho on this one.
Also, the original Christmas premiere date was a little odd - right in the middle of the period where many families are traveling; and there was always the potential for bad winter weather to affect the box office.
And besides, this also gives JJ Abrams & Co. an extra four months to figure out a way to fit Shatner into the movie. :v

Brother, I'm bummed. No Armie Hammer to grace the silver screen as Bats
Yeah, I know. Now we'll never be able to get that limited edition box of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda with the Batman logo on it. But look at the bright side, maybe by 2010 he'll be old enough to grow some facial hair.
Even worse, we won't get to see Common deliver his Green Lantern rap. I hear it went something like this...
John Stewart is my name.
and this is my story,
They all say I’m lame,
and give Hal all the glory.
They call me Green Lantern
from sector two eight one four,
But whenever I’m mad,
I just fall face down on the floor.
I’m brave and I’m bold,
at least that’s what I’m told.
But every time I fight,
I just get knocked out cold.
It must be my ring,
it always lets me down.
I don’t have enough bling,
just a sad looking frown.
I do try my best,
but it’s just not enough.
I got beat up by Aquaman,
that was really tough.
I once fought Sinestro,
we battled high the sky.
He beat me so bad,
and I got a black eye.
I’m just not cut out,
for this superhero racket.
Somebody tell Hal,
I’ve decided to pack it.

Maybe we can have a super hero rap film.I also have one for the actor who would be Superman and it goes something like this:
My name is Kal El and I'm Kryptonian by birth
When my planet exploded I was hustled to Earth
I crash landed in a field and was found by the Kents
Who took me in as their own, and gave me a chance..
To fight for truth and justice and the American
Way
As the undisputed leader of the JLA
I hang out with Arrow, Bats, Lantern and Flash
An Amazonian queen gives the Watchtower its class
We all have amazing abilites and yet we all wish
That Aquaman could do more than just talk with fish
My arch nemesis is Luthor who is evil and cool
Yet he always refers to me as Super Fool
I'm in love with this dame who's a royal pain
She's always in trouble, that's right,Lois Lane
I can stop bullets and trains and fly day and night
Yet I've developed an allergy to Kryptonite
But even so, I will never surrender or even kneel
Because I will always be The Man of Steel.

Taylor Kitsch is Gambit in Wolverine!
Source: Chaos Bringer February 19, 2008
Scooper 'Chaos Bringer' has revealed on Superhero Hype!'s message boards that "Friday Night Lights" star Taylor Kitsch will play Gambit (AKA Remy LeBeau) in director Gavin Hood's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Kitsch has signed a three-picture deal.
He'll be joining Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth), Danny Huston (William Stryker) and Lynn Collins (Silver Fox) in the 20th Century Fox release, opening May 1, 2009.
Leading up to the events of X-Men, "Wolverine" tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.
In related news, we've posted a hi-res version of the new Wolverine photo here! Scooper 'Darthjul' also tells us that "Wolverine" will be shooting in Glebe Point Park, Sydney on February 29.
This project is getting more and more interesting to me seeing that they're bringing fresh blood to the mutant theme; Wolvie alone wasn't enough to get me excited.
Gambit, IMO, has to be one of the coolest X-Men around and it's a pity he wasn't cast sooner in the franchise.
I can only hope that they let him wear the long coat and those two-fingered gloves...I know that his black headgear is a longshot.
Now if they could somehow get Terry Crews to play Bishop and Adam Beach to get cast as Forge in future films, I'd be very happy. B-)

I remember back in the early 90's there was talk of an X-Men movie with Jean Claude Van Damme as Gambit ... shivers from the bad memories ... this guy kind of projects a Gambit vibe, and he doesn't have a perpetual welt in the middle of his forehead.

Just finished watching the new Justice League: New Frontier DVD with my brother. We both enjoyed it immensely, much moreso than the recent Superman/Doomsday direct to DVD animated feature.
The story is greatly simplified from Darwyn Cooke's comic, and many of the subplots like the Losers, Challengers of the Unknown and John Henry have been reduced to quick panels or news stories that appear in the background.
In spite of that however, the show is really well paced, retains the look and spirit of the book and all the main JLA heroes have their moment to shine. Even Aquaman lends a helping hand at the end. At the end of the day though, this is very much a Hal Jordan story, although he doesn't acquire the ring or don the Green Lantern costume until the finale.
The animation style is very reminiscent of the classic Bruce Timm/Paul Dini shows with a heavy slant towards Cooke's art style from the books. Many of the scenes, like the Flash's confrontation with Captain Cold look like they literally jumped off the page and kudos should be given to the animation team for staying so true to the book.
The voice acting is uniformly superb on this one, especially Jeremy Sisto as Batman (who's delivery rivals even Kevin Conroy) and Kyle MacLachlan as Superman. The actor who voices Abin Sur is also haunting.
I picked up the BluRay DVD and the added clarity and depth of color were really worth the extra five bucks.
If the suits at WB had any brains they'd look at this and find their live action JLA script staring right back at them. Too bad that won't happen.
Overall, a great, entertaining, well acted and well written story and definitely worth a purchase for any comics fan.

I agree with Tony on this one; I purchased my copy last night...NEW FRONTIERS is indeed GOOD. The animation is TOP NOTCH as well. :v
I have yet to see what's on disc two though...
Why is Warner being so obstinate about this? I was excited at first, read a few articles pertaining to the difficulty of getting it up & running, writers' strike, etc...And Baking Soda boy being Batman! 8-)
Now, I'm not so sure... ?:)
Full Speed Ahead for Justice League
Source: Variety February 26, 2008
Now that the writers strike has been resolved, Warner Bros. is pushing ahead with its plans to make Justice League in time for a 2009 debut, reports Variety.
Warners tried to get the big screen adaptation into production earlier, but put it on indefinite hold in January, allowing the cast options to expire. At the time, the studio said it didn't want to move ahead until the screenwriters had another shot at the script.
Writers Kieran and Michele Mulroney are busy polishing up the script, which is expected back at the studio in several weeks, and the cast has been advised to keep training for their superhero roles. Director George Miller is in pre-production in Australia.
Adam Brody, cast as the Flash, is the biggest star in the superhero lineup. Rapper Common nabbed the Green Lantern role; other roles went to lesser-known actors such as Armie Hammer Jr. (Batman) and Megan Gale (Wonder Woman).
The trade adds that Justice League, based on the DC Comic, is a huge priority for the studio and considered a launching pad for future superhero projects down the line.

Galactus Being Saved for Silver Surfer
Source: Newsarama February 27, 2008
Possibly one of the biggest disappointments for any comic book fan seeing last year's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer was that the world-devouring entity known as Galactus was barely shown, looking more like a giant storm cloud than the immense being with the spiked headpiece and purple outfit that we've come to know and love since his introduction during Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's run on the characters.
Well, have no fear, true believers, because the planned Silver Surfer prequel movie will give the fans what they want, a much better look at Galactus, at least according to the film's screenwriter, J. Michael Straczynski, who mentioned this at his Wondercon Spotlight panel.
As Newsarama reports from the panel:
For what the Silver Surfer movie entails Straczynski says it will cover the origin of the character. He said it will feature Galactus, noting that the latest Fantastic Four film held off on showing Galactus to reveal him for this film.
The Purple Death!
This wasn't a big issue for me when I went to see the FF2 movie but quite a few fans were turned off to the cloud thing. I thought the hints of him here & there was sufficient at the time...
It will be interesting to see how he'll end up looking in this upcoming project.

There are all kinds of conflicting reports on the live JLA. One story said that a new script was being commissioned that did away with Superman and Batman. I'd also read another recent, post-writers strike interview where Miller had said that the film was still in a very precarious position. There also seems to be some disagreement between WB and Miller over where JLA should film. Miller wants to do it in Australia, WB is pushing for a shoot in Canada. And there are reports out of WB that the Superman Returns sequel is once again gaining steam and several writers have been brought in to make pitches.
When taken together, all these rumors tell me that WB still isn't sure what it wants to do and it may all come down to who has the best and most filmable script. I also wouldn't be surprised if they drag their feet until they see how The Dark Knight does at the box office before making a decision on JLA. So keep the faith, we may yet be spared Baking Soda Man.

I understand why Tim Story went the route that he did; let's face it, a giant man with antlers can look silly if not done right.
The filmmakers need to be careful if they actually intend to show Galactus. The look can work, but you really have to pile on the detail, maybe make the helmet and other pieces of the costume look ancient and weathered to suggest how old he really is, and also shoot him from the right angles to really highlight his immense size. The voice will also be a big part of it. You need somebody of a James Earl Jones caliber to really sell it (and I'm talking timbre and presence, not implying that he should sound like Darth Vader).

Tony, this JLA business is more widespread than I thought...
I just came up from the breakroom from having my lunch and there were some other comic fans, perhaps from another floor/business, discussing this JLA film and their disdain for John Stewart being cast instead of Hal Jordan. One of them even had the audacity to say that Guy Gardner should have been cast instead.... They said that Stewart hurts in the continuity of the original JLA.
...apparently they saw my facial gestures after the Gardner comment and asked me what I thought of it all. As you know Gardner isn't my favorite GL at all... X-(
First I said that I wasn't fully onboard with the project seeing who the WB has cast...Then I just said that Stewart wasn't a big problem for me, although I have a soft spot for Jordan in the old school sense, and that it was more of a PC move not to disenfranchise many minority viewers/fans. I told them the same tactic was used 25 years ago with Challenge Of The Superfriends and it wasn't a hangup for me on that end...
Then the one who seemed to know all about comics, as if he had a degree, in his 25-28 years of life retorts to me that casting Stewart hurts the integrity of the original heroes who founded the group.
So I asked him that if that's his argument, why are they using Wally West as Flash instead of BARRY ALLEN? Wasn't he a founding member? West was Kid Flash at the time. He couldn't respond so I said, "Case closed". )
I said, "Hal's getting his own film soon so why are you guys getting your blood up over something like this? The whole project should be trashed anyway because some Dawson Creek kid is playing Batman." )
I think that I took "Comic Guru's" flock away because they came to my table to discuss comics further in detail clearly tired of his rhetoric. Now they want to meet for for lunch tomorrow, same place. Man, between this alliance and the Marvel twins...I don't know what I'm going to do. )

I'd watch my back if I were you though; Comics Guru might try to get back at you in some underhanded sort of way since you basically pwned him.
Even though Comics Guru was clearly a fraud, there are a lot of people who feel the same way about John Stewart he does. In perusing various boards I've found the response to Stewart being cast over Hal resoundingly negative - I'm talking almost 100%. So, if WB is determined to go that route, I just hope they realize that there are going to be a lot of angry fanboys out there who may choose to skip this movie.
For what it's worth, I'm something of a purist as well and if this JLA movie is an origin movie, then it should be Hal and Barry. Of course, there are other factors and its not a perfect world and we don't always get what we want. As long as it's a good movie, and as long as Hal gets his own film, they can have John Stewart ... even if he is a lame-ass loser who's always having his head handed to him. And besides, I saw the real JLA movie last night. :v
As far as Guy Gardner goes, he has become a much better character since Hal came back and the GL Corps was reformed. He also had a few pretty decent story arcs - there was one arc where he and Hal take on the insane Guardian who'd stayed behind after all the other Guardians had left our universe. It was collected as a trade paperback titled The Road Back and led to the reformation of the GL Corps and the creation of the Mosaic city. By the way, guess who was too weak willed and got his mind taken over by the evil Guardian in that one: yup, John Stewart. But, at the end of the day, Guy really serves as little more than comedy relief. He really can't carry a book (or movie for that matter) on his own.

Hey, buddy, I for one knows how it feels to stay legit under the umbrella but they were making the arguement too glaring in one direction that can easily be misconstrued.
Guru even brought up his hatred for Samuel L. Jackson being cast as Nick Fury in this summer's Iron Man flick which I think was a brilliant move on Favreau's part. He didn't feel that way.
I asked if he knew that Brian Michael Bendis asked Jackson if they could use his likeness for the comics and that Jackson gave Marvel his blessings...he didn't even know that.
It's almost like asking Clancy Brown to shave his head and be in Superman Returns 2 as Lex instead of Spacey. B-)
Yeah, he was pretty ticked off under the surface to say the least.
Now, saying that, I didn't like Duncan being cast as Kingpin in Daredevil but I certainly can live with it....the Director's Cut of course.

) Even I know that Nick Fury from the Ultimates line is based on Jackson. Sounds like your new best friend is stuck in the silver and bronze age and hasn't read anything since about 1988. The only problem with Jackson is that he's been in so many stinkers lately that he's wearing out his coolness factor. Hopefully, IM will start to reverse that trend for him.

Oh, of course. 8-) ) I thought Duncan did a good job as Kingpin; he was physically imposing and he caught the swagger and snobbiness that I remembered from when I used to read Marvel back in the 70's. Again, not 100% faithful but also not ruinous to the part.

Incredible Hulk movie pics! Hurt looks more like the classic Thunderbolt Ross than Sam Elliot did...and I loved Elliot's version.

Man, Ed Norton looks really constipated in that pic. Put some fiber in your diet dude. Given that Hulk is coming out in a few months, you'd think they'd be putting up some pics of the green monster.
Anyhow, there's another Superhero Movie coming out that looks really interesting. It may end up trouncing them all...

What?! The karate guy who loves to show off his designer underwear when he fights? I'm glad that never came to fruition...

The tribute to Aquaman was very moving. )
Man, between this alliance and the Marvel twins...I don't know what I'm going to do. )
Thought I'd share...
Batman: "The Hammer Of Justice is UNISEX!"
-Batman: The Brave & The Bold -
That gets my nomination for Post of the Day ) ) )
I'd watch my back if I were you though; Comics Guru might try to get back at you in some underhanded sort of way since you basically pwned him.
He really can't carry a book (or movie for that matter) on his own.
)
Man, this sounds like it would be a much more enjoyable debate to watch then anything we've seen in the presidential race. Why can't CNN air things like this?
Get in touch with your local cable company, Darenhat. Who knows? )

) Even I know that Nick Fury from the Ultimates line is based on Jackson.
Tonight on Public Access Television: Comic Book Geek Speak with RogueAgent and the Marvel Twins! ) I'd watch that over American Idol any day.
Ugh. Add on the Marvel fanboy in my home to the cast and I'd never survive that show...
