James Bond theme and 007 theme

this might sound like a stupid question, but bear with me: I've variously heard references to the James Bond theme and also the 007 theme as musical themes for the James Bond films. Are these the same pieces of music? If not, can someone give me an example of each version? Someone said that the 007 theme is only heard in 5 movies, including Moonraker (this is apparently the only Roger Moore film in which it appeared). I am sure there must be a difference but I had always assumed that there is just the "usual James Bond music", I never distinguished between the two. I've never seen a Bind film, except for the imposter NSNA, which lacks such incidental music.
Thanks in advance

You've never seen a Bond film? surely that can't be true !! I thought 2/3 of everyone on the planet had seen one. Unless you are the 1/3
Yes- two different themes. The James Bond theme is the one we all know best, whereas 007 is only occasionally heard- most notably in the sequence where Bond nabs the decoder in From Russia With Love; in the underwater battle in Thunderball; when Little Nellie is assembled in You Only Live Twice; and during the gadget boat sequence in Moonraker. Is it played over the Oil Rig assault in Diamonds Are Forver too? I've forgotten.
The "James Bond Theme" first appeared in DN- it's the first piece of actual music heard in a Bond film (there are some strange electronic noises heard just before it during the gunbarrel) and is repeated often in that film (most notably when Connery introduces himself) and in all subsequent EON Bond films to a greater or lesser degree, frequently rearranged to feature different instruments.
As emtiem says, "007" is heard less often. It was introduced in FRWL and is heard in the sequences he mentions and, yes, also during the oil rig assault in DAF.
There are various topics in the music forum where more information can be found- if you want more detail then probably The Cat or ;% myself are the ones to ask.
Really? You've been involved in discussions about them numerous times, and you do have 69 posts! ?:)
Uh, re-read the sentence: Other than NSNA, he's never seen a Bond film that didn't include the Bond Theme. He's wondering how that could be if, for example, he's being told that the 007 Theme is only heard in one Moore movie ... assuming that those are two titles for the same piece of music (which they aren't ... as we've demonstrated).
Ah, right, yep - silly me. Sorry, crawfordboon
