I like that they're downplaying the "Bond Begins" angle (especially the dreadful "See How James Became Bond" line) and instead are saying that this film is indeed part of the series with "James Bond Is Back" and "Nobody Does It Better." Somehow it's all very comforting.
I agree. They finally got it right IMO in the last one. It FEELS like Bond. There's a sly sense of fun there, and Craig can actually...smile! Who knew?
{[] That's the first thing I noticed, too. I've always insisted that, the stills notwithstanding, Craig DOES smile in CR -- without realling knowing of course. So to see him grin not once but twice (and maybe even three times; he looks like he's smiling with Munro, which comes as no surprise) was a relief.

This iklipz site just kicks my computer's ass
As ever, I've gotten a semblance of an impression of the spots, and I think they all look great. They really seem to be 'dialing it in' now.
I really couldn't be more excited B-)

Bond is back!, the GF tagline, and Nobody does it better, from TSWLM. Now they´re obviously saying, "hey, this is the Bond you´ve always known after all". And yes, Craig´s smile is quite ironic a la Connery. He is Bond material. What was I thinking when I wanted them to cast that Clive Owen?
Has anyone else noticed that there is almost no dialogue what-so-ever in some of the CR TV commercials? One of them is almost entirely made up of people saying "Bond" over and over.
That might suggest two things? One being that their trying to force-feed everyone the idea that Daniel Craig is Bond. And the other being that there may not be very much good dialogue in the film?
I don't think that there is any doubt what-so-ever that their trying to force us to accept Craig as Bond! And we'll have to wait and see on the no good dialogue part.
You might be overthinking the promos. But if you're right and the early reviews are any indication, they've worked brilliantly.

Sorry eye, but with everything we've heard about the script, that just sounds silly. CR's an action/adventure film, we're lucky anyone mumbles anything remotely intelligible in the commercials for it, admidst all the gunplay and explosions and stunts and explosions and...I mean has there ever been a Bond film commercial--or an action film commercial--with more than 20 words of dialogue in it, lol?
That 8th spot was pretty sweet, and like the use of TSWLM's tagline, CR has about the same amount of looking-forward-to-it for me as that earlier film--and a bit more, I think. It's the something new vibe-thing...it's a topper alright.

a) If it's a Bond film then you will tend to mention that James Bond's in it.
b) Everyone who's read the script knows that the dialogue is good.

Well, they are selling Daniel Craig as Bond. That´s their job. And I don´t think a 30 second spot is representative of a 144 minute movie dialogue-wise. We won´t note the difference in more-less dialogue with other Bond movies. I would expect a bit more, if anything.
first of all:
IKlipz sucks, i know i have to be gratefull to see the tv spots (as a international reader than i am, but it sucks: you´ll see you get excited then it pauses, it sucks, seriously)
the latest spots are good, but something i don`t really like about the fifth one is than it look thak we`ll see Daniel Craig's face in the main titles, something not usual.
now, it really looks like a Bond movie, the titles, some scenes (i´m not the biggest aficionado of explosions, there are more than the only big one Campbell promised back in the conference) but it looks more than fine.
I´m excited, and jealous because the premiere over here will be in a month from tomorrow.

Whew! I thought I was the only one having trouble with Ikpliz.
do you agree with them saying 'Bond is Back' because in theory (going by the fact this is Bond's first outing) he isn't back... but then again he is back in another film:s??

From the point of view of the audience, he is. I don't have a problem with it. It's as good as anything else nine days before the opening, I suppose. What's really whetted my appetite are the images. To hell with the publicity -- I say, give us the movie! )

Force feed? My god, he's the STAR OF THE FILM. Of COURSE they want you to "accept" him as Bond.

How quickly we forget that they used the same tactic in the trailer for TWINE. I believe it's just done so everyone can quickly understand that it's a Bond movie.

Like the man says.."shoot first, ask questions later"...in this case its action first, dialogue later.

I've just noticed this potential gem tonight on ITV2 at 11.30pm.
Becoming Bond
In this programme, we follow Daniel from his screentest, through his first encounter with the world's press and onto the set to get a unique insight into how he has faced the criticism and approached the role. We travel down the Thames with him to his initial press conference, join him in his training sessions with the stunt team and discuss his genuine pride in taking on the world's most iconic movie role. This is Daniel Craig's own perspective on a year in the hot seat.

And what about us over on the other side of the pond? Are we chopped liver? Where is our schedule of fine CR-inspired hoopla???
I only recently noticed the countdown clock was set for the British opening. So instead of 8 days and counting, I have to deal with the crushing reality that it's an extra day here.
Seriously, I saw the listing for that "Becoming Bond" program, and I'd love to see it. It really does look like a gem. If anyone sees it listed on U.S. TV, give a brother a holler.
'Becoming Bond'- excellent; loads of new clips, surprising amount of candid stuff. we see the new gunbarrel (not the old one); we hear the film version of YKMN (not one we've heard before); we see the Aston crash going wrong.. and lots more besides. And Craig is a damned good laugh in it.
Comments
Anyone else think that Craig looks strikingly like Connery in the "You mind if I join you" shot?
The last shot of the spot is priceless and timeless.
Although saying how nobody does it better and then showing him crashing his car doesn't make it too convincing!

Have they no consideration for my weakened heart?!?!
