i've recently became a big fan of Clive Owen, and it's probably cause he completely reminds me of the literary bond (fleming, gardner, and benson) I think we should write a petition and have it ready for when Daniel's done his four movies! Clive would really bring alot to the character

Clive Owen turns 45 this fall. By the time Daniel Craig is done with Bond Owen will be in his 50's. Do we really need to see that again? I do like him as an actor and maybe he could have made an interesting Bond, but he missed the boat and is too old to take over for the younger Craig IMO.

not at all, Craig would be wwaayy too old then. and I would most likely want to see a new Face as 007.

Hyperbole, served at the right temperature, is delicious :D

I'll settle for seven films, thanks...at two a year, he'd be hanging it up around the same age as Brozzer :007)

Do you think an unknown American actor could ever play James Bond? I certainly hope so because if an Englishman could play Batman then why not?

Personally, I'd rather Bond never be played by a Yank. It's just an idiosyncracy of mine.

Sure, accents can be affected, but...for whatever reason, I prefer Bond to be at least from the extended colonies---Sam Neill (New Zealand), for instance, could have done a very creditable job if he'd won the role over Timothy Dalton in the Eighties.

If I knew the actor was an American, the hurdle for suspension of disbelief might be insurmountable.

What if this "yank" was born in Lordon but he grew up in the states?

I wonder if the American actor Barry Nelson, the very first Bond actor did more than one Bond film before Sean Connery's debut. Casino Royale is his first film, probably his second might be Risico which would probably be released in 1956, his third might be The Hildebrand Rarity which would be released around 1957-1958 and his final film might be 007 in New York which would be released in 1960, two years before Connery's debut. So the James Bond timeline would extend from 1954! B-)

But Nelson's films might be shown only in black and white!

An autobiographically-based question? ;) I don't know; it's the growing up in the States that's most relevant. The dialect would have to be 100% authentic---merely being born in London probably wouldn't be enough, especially if the formative years were essetially American.

I'd have to see the screen test... ;) ...but then, I'm not part of that particular decision making process! :D

If they keep making them like QoS, then Jason Statham will be Bond soon

I think it would be hard to follow in Craig's footsteps, but if it had to be done......

I think it depends on the what film is made. If it is continuing on after QOS it has to be someone similar to Craig but less raw, and brutal killer. I love where Bond is currently, but in order to bring the plot further it has to be a actor that portrays Connery and Craig like attributes to the role.

My suggestions would be(keeping it UK Bond-as you cannot have an American being an MI6 Operative.)

    1. Rupert Everett-Little experience in action films which will be good as I would hate to see a well known actor play Bond and associate him with another film-that is why Craig works so well, looks like a mix between Clive Owen and Pierce. He is from Norfolk, England, UK.

    2.Jonny Lee Miller

He is 37 ideal for taking over Craig. He looks good in a suit, and looks a just a bit older then Craig.[Refer to image]. Check this, he is the grandson of Bernard Lee (M in the early Bond films).

    3. Callum Keith Rennie [My pic for future movement].

-If Bond was to progress and make Craig character age this would so be my choice for appearance. He looks quite similar to Craig watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kP74UHnVvrc&feature=related

I thought about it...and I agree: Henry Cavill is a shoe in for the next Bond.

Which means he probably won't get it. :007)

He looks to much younger then Craig and he would be a good candidate for before CR such as Bonds life before.

You know it's too bad that Welsh actor Christian Bale didn't accept the role of James Bond after Pierce Brosnan stepped down because he would've been a great Bond. But now it's too late because Bale is only six years younger than Daniel Craig and once Craig steps down he'll be too old.

Bale would just be too associated with his success with Batman. I am not sure if I am like most people but when an actor has a big break or is a success in a role e.g.:

    Bale: Batman
    Craig: Bond
    Damon: Bourne
    Jason S: Transporter
    Radcliffe: Harry Potter.

It is difficult to see others replace these.
  • LoeffelholzLoeffelholz The United States, With LovePosts: 8,998Quartermasters
But replace Craig someone most assuredly will...

As for Bale, I think he'd be a fine Bond...and he won't be too old if Craig only does one or two more, which is a very real possibility. The only issue for Bale, at that point, would be whether or not he's still tangled up with Batman by then. If so, I think one iconic franchise at a time is enough.*

    * Harrison Ford being the natural exception to the rule (SW and Indy) B-)

If Christian Bale was James Bond how would he speak? I think Bale would sound somewhat like Alfred Borden from The Prestige.

Robert Pattinson might take over the Bond role when Craig retires. He might be the next Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan. He might possibly be younger than Lazenby's debut age.

So you want Craig to be replaced in 10 years time by someone who is significantly older than Daniel ....

I was just stating that if Bond's character was going to progress and maintain a similar appearance to Craig but older looking then it would be ideal.

If I had it my way Daniel Craig would sign on for additional films as in my opinion he has been such a good Bond for his part in Bond as a whole(Pre-Suave/Sophisticated Bond)-Raw Bond.

henry cavill in say 4 years time after dc makes 23 and 24 then steps down. henry will be 30 then and gl was only 29 in ohmss. i also think that if for some reason dc quit not that i want him to [these things do happen] rupert penry-jones would be a good replacement untill henrys ready.
