Dame Shirley Bonds with M&S

Even dear old Marks and Spencer are getting in on the Bond action with their Christmas ad this year with a Bond theme and a Bond singer!
If anything, it proves that Dame Shirley can still belt out a song and I personally think she would have done a better job than Chris Cornell, but thats another thread ...
If you want to see the ad ....

(Though I'm sure us here in the UK will be pretty sick of it soon when its played about a 1000 times ) )

Like it, like it a lot! No doubt it will be on tonight during My Life With James Bond.
(Now, maybe a Bond villain type can dispatch that damn voice over woman cooing and aaahing at "not just food, M&S food" ) )
Works for me. Hearing Shirley Bassey reminds me of how inadequate every Bond theme song has been and probably will be since her "Goldfinger," to my ears anyway. If Bond has a "sound," it's her voice. Never mind Moneypenny and Q -- bring back Shirley.
Good, but it's all DAD imagery - all it was fit for, an advert!!
Roger Moore 1927-2017
Although her Moonraker is still one of my favourites ...
Mention of the M&S catchphrase reminds me of a business report a couple of weeks back on the BBC. The reporter started the piece:
"These are not just profits figures, these are M&S profit figures"
Wouldn't have been cheeky chappy Declan Currie who made that remark, Pred? It's got his buddum-tish humour all over it!
What complete Bollox !
What retro vibe is he talking about. Oh yeah, Ice Palaces, so 2002.
I suppose DAD was chosen as the basis of the ad, in the main, because of it's winter (ergo Christmas) connotations. I also like the small, but probably unnoticed detail of the silver Rolls-Royce, a la A View To A Kill.
And poor Noemie Lenoir. Apparently, even in an Ice Palace, she is contractually required to roll around in her undies.

I am one of the few who seem to like Chris Cornell's title song. Regardless, I certainly would be pleased if Dame Shirley was invited back. She still has a great singing voice.
She's probably reeling from losing out to Kate Moss for Model Of the Year at the British Fashion Awards.
But she remains totally gorgeous. She is stunning.
Note my complete lack of surprise
