New gunbarrel look?

Have you noticed in "Becoming Bond" what looks like a new gunbarrel (the actual image of the gunbarrel), with more lines around the circle and and just a few small dark zones in the centre? The one of the teasers and ads is the usual one. I don´t think this new one works as well. Hopefully it was just for the documentary because they couldn´t use the real one.

Nah- it's definitely from the film. The 'dark zones' are reflections of Bond which you can see when it's moving. It looks good; nice and hard with sharp-looking metal where the rifling ends. Works for me.

Yeah, I doubt they'd go to so much expense and effort to create a "special" gunbarrel just for that documentary. It's most definitely a revised design. Basically all silver/gunmetal with tighter 'swirls'. Considering that the traditional gunbarrel is being heavily used on merchandising and in the trailers and TV spots themselves, I reckon this is just a one off for CR, like the placing of it itself, just like the bullet in DAD. All will probably return to normal in Bond 22.

It does look very good, I have to add.

I don´t know...Just like others were upset about Q or Monneypenny not appearing or the reboot (I wasn´t), with this one change I´m not happy. The 3D from GE onwards was all right (the bullet in DAD wasn´t), but this complete change of look in the gunbarrel has left me cold. I actually think if would be better also with the old one to visually say, "hey, this guy in the middle of this circle IS Bond, as Connery was". Cleverly, they use the old logo in the ads.

Like many of the other changes, I'm quite pleased with this one. It's about time Klienman emerged from Binder's shadow and made hiw own unique mark on the series.
