There is a free Bond DVD included with Sunday's 'News of the World' newspaper. Featured on the DVD is the Casino Royale trailer plus an exclusive behind the scenes sneak peak. Also featured, Bond Girls Are Forever - a 45 minute dedication to the most beautiful girls to ever grace the screen alongside James Bond himself.

That's understandable. Bond definitely is an institution, and in many ways informs how people think of Great Britain and the British, much like Western movie heroes have colored the way people think of the U.S. and Americans. How close either images are to reality is another story, of course (I can remember as a kid explaining to a school pal of mine in France that people in Arizona used cars rather than horses to get around ))
Britain without Bond is like the United States without -- Superman (actually, Mickey Mouse might be closer). )
I was just reading a piece in the Sunday Herald by the guy who wrote "The Man Who Saved Britain," which I'll post in its own thread if someone hasn't beaten me to it. It's about how Britain as changed since Fleming created Bond and how CR skillfully taps into that.
The DVD has
(1) Trailer (not the teaser).
(2) Bond Girls Are Forever- as stated above, Maryam d'Abo interviews various Bond alumni tying in with the book she wrote with John Cork.
(3) Behind The Scenes- Wilson, Campbell, Craig, etc talk about CR, we see some of the film being shot, etc. Heavy on the Venice scenes.
Edit- forced myself to look at the paper itself. There's a 5 page CR feature, including an interview with Mads and a very positive review of the film.
Looks like somebody went to Best Buy As for other stuff on the discs, I'm sure they'll be featured on the dvd when it comes out. At least I hope so. I wouldn't want to be left out on anything Bond.
Pretty much. You cant move here for CR publicity.
I didn't think that at all. If anything it was a homage to Connery. Still, I enjoyed the programme, even though there were no surprises. Those programmes are always like watching a little montage of your favourite bits.
Bring on the Bond Girls!.................
I agree; in fact I thought they downplayed Brosnan a bit!
@merseytart
The scary part was I left the programme thinking Walliams would make quite a funny Q !! )
Now, off to buy my News Of The World ....
Cheating pop stars stories: *yawn*
Vicars caught in love nests with mothers superior, on the other hand ... )
I just forced myself to flick through it- no naughty vicars this week, sorry . I'm not going to read through any more of the non-007 stuff!
I genuinely don't know what you mean- it was mostly Casino Royale and a fairly even balance for the rest.
I wouldn't say the disc was pretty rubbish, perhaps that's a little harsh, but it was certainly nothing special.
The behind the scenes "stuff" had one or two interesting moments, but it pales compared to a programme called 'James Bond - For Real' which I saw this afternoon. It featured the preparation, attention to detail, the stuntwork and special effects that were behind the major action sequences from the construction site chase, the MIA sequence, the Aston Martin car crash, and the collapsing building in Venice. Great stuff.
