It was an interesting programme, though I am astonished that NSNA managed to beat MR - I mean, come on! It's true what they say; the public are idiots.

Yes me too. He's a big fan of Jacques Brel-type music which is bang on for Bond, and has a good ear for melodramatic music. His voice is very clear too- I'd be intrigued to hear that one.

It was an interesting programme, especially some of the old archive footage and the artists/records featured that were rejected for the title song. And I am astonished that NSNA managed to beat anything. Disappointed that TB was so low down. My favourite of all OHMSS only 12th. Yes, the public are idiots.
Would have like a tad more clips of Alice's Golden Gun, is available anywhere? How about a youtube clip of the film with his song? Not to mention all the others. Why not include Pulp's TND? We saw Jarvis but didn't hear it...

Or the original FYEO before Binder stepped in!
I've supplied lots of rare demos from my personal collection to the program (which included 2 different FYEO demos by Easton - one before and one after the rewrite). I also sent them the orignal Cooper demo, the one he submitted to United Artists' music department. The song now known as Alice Cooper's TMWTTG was composed AFTER the movie came out. But there is always a thing called copyright. They couldn't use some of the things I sent them because they couldn't locate the copyright holder in time, and also you have to pay a certain ammount of money after playing the songs. And clips that would have been even a few seconds longer could have doubled or tripled the costs. I don't know whether it will be repeated, but if you want to see it again... Perhaps I can tell you where you can see it...

23:40 to 01:40 James Bond's Greatest Hits
Coinciding with the release of the new James Bond film Casino Royale, this programme celebrates the music that has always been central to the mystique and glamour of the Bond phenomenon.
Can't find anything regarding this show, which sounds absolutely fascinating, coming to television in the USA.
Any chance someone recorded it and can make a 'no region' dvd copy?
Thanks!

Hi,
I got myself a DVD Hard-drive recorder over xmas and downloaded this program. I will burn to DVD as part of my collection.
If anyone missed this or would like a copy, here or abroad, I will supply with a DVD
- I don't mind sending the odd copy free to the UK, but if I get loads of requests, I would appreciate if postage costs could be met, should be about 65p in the UK.
I can find actual postage to rest of the world.
PM me if u want a DVD of the Programme.
thanx
A7ce

Hi A7ce,
I realise this is a shot in the dark, given that it's ages since this topic was discussed, and since you made your incredibly generous offer, but:
Are you still willing and able to send a DVD of Channel 4's "James Bond's Greatest Hits"?
I'm writing a postgraduate thesis that would benefit greatly from being able to quote from that documentary. Beyond paying expenses I would thank you in the thesis's acknowledgements, and if there's anything else I could do to demonstrate my gratitude, just name it.
Yours hopefully,
MrLix
PS Apologies for posting what is essentially an email: I wasn't able to PM you

What's all this about 'The Cat' appearing on the end credits and writing a book?

Alice Cooper and Blondie's rejected songs were quite good.

If you look under "The James Bond Films" on this site, then click "Song Lyrics", the chart positions are listed there.
"Licence To Kill".

Keep an eye on E4, especially at weekends; these countdown shows are often shown on Saturday/Sunday nights there.

The disc was recieved today and i must admit i didn't expect the quality and the layout to be so good.
I like the way you did the menu.
Thank you very much Frankie for your time. This is very much appreciated.
I hope everyone else appreciates it as much as me.
Kind regards
Scott
Just thought i'd post this on the board.
