SPECTRE

I thought the guy who killed LeChiffre was nailed on to be a member of SPECTRE. In an age of global terrorism it seems a good idea to bring back SPECTRE for the next movie.

In a recent interview, Daniel Craig did not rule out that the organization behind Mr. White maybe SPECTRE. What an interesting twist that would be....

I agree. SPECTRE would fit well with the times and be very nostalgic. Been waiting for the return of SPECTRE for a long time.

Oh, lord. If they ever had an opportunity to bring back SPECTRE (and do it right), it's this reboot.

However, I'd say, I don't want them to bring back just any Blofeld. Remember the time when the character was truly frightening? The time when he was not only a mental but a PHYSICAL threat to anyone crossed his way, such as Bond. The time when he wasn't a whimsical "Dr. Evil" caricature, but a cold, teutonically cruel, deep-voiced character, shown only with his arms stroking a white cat (Yeah, I wouldn't mind the cat being brought back, lol, since it's just THAT signature of the character)
I love PLeasance as an actor but seriously, I think his being cast in YOLT brought about the beginning of Blofeld's decline. While Savalas made a step back in the right direction with his more "plain", but frankly much more imposing, dangerous Blofeld, I feel the character was killed and discredited by Gray's dressing up in drag in DAF.
Still, yeah, since it's a reboot, so maybe all the prejudices of the character can be killed, and since global terrorism is topical again, perhaps it really is time to bring back the character, at least, or actually, even PREFERABLY as a behind-the scenes threat, for 2008, god knows I'd love them if they did.

Now, if Eon can only 'make nice' with McClory somehow...slip him a bit of cash, perhaps...we can get Blofeld and SPECTRE back. It's a dream of mine... B-)

Hmmm, bring back Blofeld and offer Patrick Stewart the role.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

I agree that Blofeld should be a menacing physical threat. More Telly Savalas than Charles Gray. Terry O'Quinn who plays Locke in the TV series Lost would make a good Blofeld.

I would love to see SPECTRE return to the series, it would be good to see Bond up against an evil organisation again.

It wouldn't be something I would be opposed to. After all, Spectre came back in the Gardner novels, and this is supposed to be a reboot.

I don't think we've seen the end of Mr. White, though. It didn't show Bond killing him for a reason. Unlike the case in which he killed Mollaka when he was just supposed to bring him in, this time it's time to bring in the man for questioning.

It would make for a nice plot line if, in the course of being detained and questioned, White's boys busted him loose, and Bond is sent after him.

I'm starting to notice a horrible trend.

SPECTRE would make a lot of sense now it´s the beginning again. They could of course change it, but Le Chiffre worked for SMERSH in the book and SMERSH became SPECTRE in the movies so if the organization mentioned all throughout the movie had a name, everything would fall into its place nicely if the name was SPECTRE.

I think bringing back SPECTRE and Blofeld would be totaly wrong. That has been done, and at times very well. Now we need a new evil organization (possibly the Bush administration) and a new main villan (George W. Bush) and and some nr. 2's (Rumsfelt, Perle, Wolfowitz etc.)

OK, the part about Bush was a cheap joke (and very easy target), but the rest stands. Bush would of course be completely wrong because we need an evil GENIUS (this is much too easy).
