You Only Live Twice has always been my favourite. On that Channel 4 thing at Christmas about the music of James Bond they revealed that a British singer (can't remember her name) originally recorded it but it just didn't work. Nancy Sinatra was suggested by Cubby Broccoli and was perfect. The British singer did say she was absolutely mortified to have missed out on a Bond theme.

Julie Rogers was the singer, but it was a different song. Same composer (John Barry), same lyricist (Leslie Bricusse), same title but not the song we now know (and love). On its release it was incorrectly billed as a "demo"; perhaps a better description would be "first draft".
They played some of the Julie Rogers version or demo and it did sound a bit weak and wobbly. I'm always suprised that Sandie Shaw never got a bash at a James Bond song in the sixties.
Apparently you only live twice is made from lots off different cuts from Nancy S as she couldn't get everything perfect in one take. Fair enough though as most stuff is recorded like that these days.
As for my favourites, vtak is great as is nobody does it better and you know my name. I also love Licence to Kill. I actually think Die another Day does fit well with the film (no not because they're both bad!) because it goes with all the overly techno gadgetry. I think the song is great but I hate all the talking (sigmund freud analyse this) etc.
I too think All time high is a fantastic song although its not very bond like. My dad made me watch the pts of Octopussy once and then pause it so he could come and listen to it as he likes it so much.
Greatest song of them all though has to be We Have All the Time in the World although its not an official theme.
It'd be great if you could check out my effort at a bond song which can be found with a little bond slideshow here:
The Spy Who Loved Me (Carly Simon - Nobody Does it Better) and The World Is Not Enough - Garbage.

Like.
1. My favourite, hands down, is TWINE.
2. There are others I love, including TND, "You know my name", "Nobody does it better" and the very sexy OHMSS instrumental tune.
3. I love the classic trend-setting songs like GF and the genuinely classy YOLT
Confused about it.
4. As for "All Time High", I'm ashamed to say that after I hear it I can never get it out of my head. I watched OP three weeks ago and kept humming the darn tune for about 6 days.
Dislike.
5. Not crazy about Madonna's DAD. I agree that it goes well with the robotics and gadgetry of the film. But it's simply not Bondian.
6. Moonraker leaves me cold, but I can't say I hate it. It just bores me.
7.Among the high rating ones I frankly dislike
LTK and GE
8. The only one I hate passionately is TMWTGG: an embarrassingly bad song
Comments
Honourable mentions go to Sheryl Crow (TND),
A-HA (TLD), Shirley Bassey (GF), Paul McCartney (LLD) and Carly Simon (Nobody does it better).
The one I hate with a purple passion is Lulu's TMWTGG.

Not exactly. Cubby asked his friend Frank Sinatra to do it. Blue eyes replied he would never do a Bond song and suggested Nancy to sing it.
Mine are AVTAK, GE, TWINE, LALD, FYEO, ATH, GF and... DAD!
