It's the end of the year, so I thought it would be interesting to find out what films AJB users thought stood out in 2006. For me there was

A Scanner Darkly, Brick, Munich, The Proposition and of course Casino Royale.

I didn't see too many movies in the theater, but for the ones that came out in 2006 that I enjoyed (theater or DVD) are Cars, United 93, (I think this came out in '06) Superman Returns, X-Men 3, and of course Casino Royale . B-)
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

Haven't seen too many at the cinema, but from what I did see, three stand out, Pirates of the Carribean 2 (sheer fun), Cars (great message and fun time), and Blood Diamond, which I think is the best movie I saw.

Best films of 2006 aside from CR?

    1) The Prestige - Brilliant performances and an amazing story.
    2) Inside Man - Clive Owen was amazing.
    3) V for Vendetta - Great fun, and a film that makes you think.

There are some films that are supposed to be great that I haven't seen yet, like Pan's labirynth, the Prestige, Totsi (South Africa), Brick and Three burialals of .... (By Tommy Lee Jones)
Of the movies I have seen I must mention Brokeback mountain, Oldboy, Good night and good luck and United 93. But my vote goes to "The Departed" by Scorsese himself. Master in (nearly)top form, and for the first time exloring the police community in addition to organized crime.

I loved Superman Returns, Munich and The Departed

    In a near level Cars...

i want to think that Rocky Balboa, Flag of or Fathers and Letters From Iwo Yima could make that list, but they haven't opened here yet.

    Casino Royale Rules

Do you think Stallone is up for another Rocky? I certainly can't see him in the role of Rambo again. It's like Roger Moore coming back for the next bond film.

I forgot "V for Vendetta" in my list. I have seen "Brick" and "Tsotsi" now. They won't make my list, but they are highly recomended!

Top of the pile - Casino Royale (Duh!)

I also liked Munich and Tsotsi (of course, being South African!) I haven't seen all that many films this year unfortunately. I would really have liked to see 'flyboys' but it wasn't released in any cinemas near where I live. In fact, as far as I can tell it wasn't released in the UK at all - anyone know??

Casino Royale and Munich. Brick was good but I couldn't understand most of the dialogue due to a crappy center channel speaker, so I'll have to rewatch it at some point and judge.

I'm not saying that i want to see Rocky because i want to see Rocky (age 60 something) fight again... i just saw the trailers and i see it as a drama, i mean, Rocky at his worst, and i would like to see the development of that (not the Fight itself)

About Brick: Amazing, i like it (even when i had to see it again to realize some things) i loved that the main character looked like John Lennon :D

And More Bond Moore, for wath i understand, there are some fellows that want a 55 plus Brosnan to make another Bond. :D
