Theory about James Bond's (Craig's) identity

Hear me out on this one.

The 007's age of all the previous films remains a mystery, as he never seemed to grow old (accept in Roger Moore's case). Now we can all accept that the Bond from the new Casino Royale film is NOT the 007 from the 20 films we've all seen before. It is quite clearly set in 2006 and sees Bond getting a Double O licence in modern day times.

But, is it outside the realm of possibility, that Casino Royale and Dr. No-Die Another Day could somehow be part of the same continuity?

As I said before its unclear as to when the 1962-2002 Bond was born, Ian Fleming's You Only Live Twice puts his birthday in the year 1924, if this was likewise in the films, in Dr. No he would be about 38 and by Die Another Day he'd be 78 (he must recommend me his plastic surgien!).

I know as I'm writing this it'll probably spark riots, so I ask if you could please just hear me out before you start attacking the message

The James Bond television series, came out and is clearly set in 1991, the character of James Bond Jr (007's nephew) was aged 17 in that series, which would make his birthday 1974, when his uncle was 50.
I know a lot of you will try to keep the 007 and JBJr franchises seperate, but there is no denying that the two series are married to one another; for starters, Ourumov was in it. In fact the episode he appeared in bridges the gap between the 1986 and 1995 segments of GoldenEye, and his character is the same as it was in the film!

Moving on, in the John Vincent novelistion of the episode Live And Let's Dance, on page 3 of the book he writes.
James [Junior] dashed out of the planetarium. The quickest route to join the others at the zoo was through the park. To get there, the best way was through the back streets. James sprinted by a nearby building with a sign that said UNIVERSAL EXPORTS. James knew it was really the headquarters of the British Secret Service. His uncle, the James Bond he was named after, worked there, along with IQ's grandfather, Major Boothroyd. One of these days, James thought, he'd work there, too.

Plus the theme song goes "He learned the game from his Uncle James now he's heir too the name"

Here's the theory, what if Daniel Craig's Bond is in fact the nephew of a James Bond who retired shortly after 2002? After all he fits the right age; if he was seventeen in 1991, in 2006 he'd be about thirty-two.

This would certainly tie the 20 previous films to the new one, and if it was Bond Junior getting the Double-O after his uncle, then it technically wouldn't be contradictory.

However there is one kink in the armour to this theory: Felix Leiter. In the Casino Royale film, whoever Craig's Bond is, when they meet up there is no evidence of Leiter having a missing leg (Licence to Kill), yes, it could be a prosthetic legs, but again both characters appear to be around the same age. Then again, none of the lead characters ever did seem to age at all, but certainly there is something different about this Felix that seems to drive a wedge between this theory; the guy is black, the Felix of the previous films was obviously white, so was his son Gordo in the TVseries.

At the end of the day that is the possibility I have come to consider, you are welcome to disagree with it but I believe this is a thought to be considered...

This isn't an attack, 0017, but why would anyone want to spend so much as 10 minutes considering how to shoehorn CR into some Rube Goldberg-like continuity? Wouldn't the time be better spent enjoying the movies?

Well I must say you obviously put quite alot of thought into that post, good show.

I didn't even know there was a JB TV series or JBJr, so this is news to me.

Though I don't agree with your theory, or at least in part; I do agree this isn't your father's James Bond, it is still a well thought out and interesting idea!

It is a good theory and it seems you have spend your time around this... it will destroy the theory about James Bond 007 being a code (which isn't Campbell's theory, he pulled away from Charles Fedeman's(?) Casino Royale) because the guy is named James Bond.

I refuse to think that way, i think this is a new Bond, a 2.0 Bond, a 2006 Bond, a S.XXI Bond, a Super Saiyan Bond... but no way James Bond Jr.

Besides, Fleming always Toyed with Bond's birth date, he seems to always be 35...

    Yet is a Good theory...

    Look people,

Fictional heroes dont get old. It's as simple as that.

    For Example:

I watched spider-man on TV when I was 9 and he was a high school student. When Toby MacGuire starting playing Spider-man, my immediate response wasnt, "Wait a minute, he's not 50 years old how can he be spiderman -oh, maybe Spidermans son got bit by a spider too."

We get old, fictional heroes dont -it's that simple. (Unless your the James Bond in a John Gardner novel.)

Occasionally, we're very unlucky and we get to see our fictional heroes get older and historically we dont like it one bit, see DAF and VTAK for further evidence.
