Casino Royale Braces

For anyone thats interested the braces worn by Daniel Craig in Casino Royale were from Gieves & Hawkes in London I purchased a pair through Nina @ Gieves & Hawkes on +44 207 434 2001 they retail at 55 GBP plus shipping.

Interesting - is there evidence that these were the actual braces, rather than some that just look the same? After all, white braces aren't that difficult to get and I'd imagined that T&A supplied them.

Those braces are indeed a pair of "White Moire braces with soft leather joints and knitted tapes, by Gieves & Hawkes".
Moiré, as you may know, is the type of weave on the main fabric - that wavey effect on the length of the brace.
Should you be interested, they retail at £ 55.

I dont mind at all, I wall looking for your address after reading teh article so that I could tell you.

Here is a little update, the braces I got had silver clips on them and I was pretty sure the ones in the movie were gold so I asked my contact at gieves & Hawkes and here is what he had to say:

Hi Simon.

Thank you for letting me know.

You're absolutely right, the ones in the movie have a different metal on them. That is because we were told to produce the sample for that item, at the time, which came in gold plated finish. The final option was voted as the silver version (which made it to the final buy because it makes it more easily "matchable" with all tints of dresswear).
As you know, he may be James Bond but it's all about Silver, not Gold!

Interesting, because on the Albert Thurston website http://www.albertthurston.com/categoryfast2.cfm?catid=1, the Casino Royale braces are theirs...although they are/were available at Gieves and Hawkes. I wonder if Thurston make them for G&H and applies the G&H label to them if bought from that shop but leaves the Thurston label on if sold themselves.

Yes, Albert Thurston invented braces and sells to a huge number of clothing companies who just relabel and sell. I would imagine that would include G&H.

I seem to recall that when I bought mine from the Albert Thurston website about a year ago, shipping was free anywhere in the world.

Actually, the "stock" ones come with gold hardware. However, an email to Thurston indicates they used the nickel hardware for the movie. If you order direct from Thurston, you can request they ship them with the nickel hardware instead of the gold.
