Karin Dor one of the least attractive Bond girls of all time.
I don't agree. I have always found her to be extremely sexy and IMO she was one of the best things about YOLT. What I love about her is that she's a beautiful woman IMO who is every bit as dangerous as she is sexy. I don't think she's the most beautiful Bond girl of all time but she gives me quite a thrill every time I watch YOLT.
I completely agree. I don't understand why some people criticise Connery's performance. Was it Connery's best performance? No (IMO it was Connery's worst offical performance) but I think he was still quite good, and a weak performance from Connery is IMO better than a good performance from most other actors. Connery's performance in YOLT is in fact 11th on my 'greatest Bon performances' list (behind 5 other Connerys, 3 Moores and 2 Brosnans.)
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman

8-) ) Same... pot kettle I know, but that's taking lists a little too far... except who and what performance props up your list?
I can't help it. List-making is the one area in my life which I can't help but take to an extreme. ) My top ten Bond performances are: Connery's performance in GF, Connery's performance in TB, Connery's performance in FRWL, Connery's performance in DN, Brosnan's performance in TWINE, Connery's performance in in DAF, Moore's performance in TSWLM, Brosnan's performance in GE, Moore's performance in LALD and Moore's performance in FYEO.

I watched YOLT today. I really think it's a great film. I rank it high.
I think the storyline was strong, was kind of unique I thought. And you see Blofeld's face for the first time too, which is one of the most memorable things in Bond history.
Really liked Japan too, one of the coolest locations Bond has been to IMO.
Connery was good I thought. I agree with what people have said about the women being mediocre, but that doesn't put me off the film.
Little nellie was kind of cool too. The volcano lair was a unique idea, and I think the film flowed really well.
Ok I've taken an opportunity which presented itself today when my wife said she was going out for a meal with her 3 sisters. So I've just watched YOLT as I work my through the series in sequence. Now I know we have a wide range of Bond fan on here however I count myself as lucky, as this was the first Bond film I went to see at the cinema on it's original release. I went to the Odeon in Manchester with my brother and queued with 100's of other people to get in for the showing.
I watched spellbound at the spectacle that unfolded before my very eye. This was the height of the Cold War, the main story is about Nuclear War which I can tell you struck a chord or two back then in the day.
Now as an old sort of guy watching it back on DVD of course there are flaws. Henderson and the drink (I'm sure that must have been a practical joke). The first major flaw which I have only just picked on with this latest viewing, is Henderson asking Bond "You've never been to Japan before?" with Bond replying "no". Yet in FRWL Bond states that he'd been to Tokyo with M, so something is amiss there.
You hear the early chord pattern of what was to become the soundtrack in OHMSS. It's during the Kobi docks sequence when Aki jumps onto the rope, it jumped out at me and slapped me round the face, I'd never picked it up before. The music to the movie is sensational, I think with John barry at the top of his game.
The movie features loads of gadgets and an outlandish plot. I don't know why Blofeld doesn't just shoot Bond after killing Osasto. Why take him into the tunnel to kill him makes no sense.
Anyway I loved watching it again a bit like going to your favourite Aunties for tea and cake.
Bruce Lee actually states that this movie was the first mainstream film to feature the martial arts, and when watching this back I'm sure there's an actor or two that featured in those early Bruce Lee films of the early 70's in the ninja training school scenes.
If a new Bond fan who has seen the actions films since Die Hard then I can see why they would be underwhelmed with YOLT.
I grew up with this film and although not my favourite it does give me a nice warm feeling inside.
