Bond's Shades? (Casino Royale)

I was wondering if anyone had the name of the shades that Bond wears when he get off the plane in Nassua? Or if anyone had a picture of them. Not neccesarily looking for the actually pair because I'm sure they are somewhat expensive (I work for a living).

Just a picture would be nice, hoping to find a budget look alike somewhere. I need a decent pair of shades for my drive back to Az and was *ahem* compeled to look for these.

Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated, hope this hasn't been discussed before.

The more I get to looking at those pics the more I realize those are not the shades I'm talking about. Allow me to be more specific.

The shades I am talking about are the ones he has on the very second he steps off the plane in Nassua. No other scene. Those shades are the ones I am talking about. They are lightly brown shaded (the lenses) and the legs aren't very thick (thin metalic look?). Also the lenses had no edge to them, ie the frame did not extend doen to the bottom of the lenses just the sides and top. None of the shades on either of the sites looked like those.

Does anyone know which ones I am talking about? He only wears them in that paticular scene.

You're wrong, actually. Those are the same glasses as on the website (Persol 2244-s, color: gunmetal), and he does wear those at other times in the film. However, the color of the glasses in the photo on the website is wrong, which is why you may have been confused.

Also, the frames do extend to the bottom of the lens, I'm looking at a photo right now.

I concur...to Nightshooter you should listen. Yep. Same ones.

    BAH!

Ok I'll take your word for it. I'll have to look into them more detailed. They certianly don't look like them, but if the website has the wrong then that would be why I'm confused.

I've looked for pictures and can't find any. Would like to get a "budget" look alike if possible.

What color are the lenses supposed to be with the Gunmetal Persol's (2244), brown or grey? Some people have been saying that the lenses look brown in the movie.?:)

I have been asking around regarding the color of the lenses in the Persol 2244-S in gunmetal and still am receiving mixed responses as to whether they're grey/green or brown. I have a pair of them on back order with the grey/green lenses, but want to confirm 100% that these are indeed the same as worn by Daniel Craig. Is there anyone here who can confirm the color of the lenses in these peticuliar glasses? Any help would be greatly appreciated.?:)

My mistake - we have since come to the conclusion that it is indeed 834/33 - Satin Gunmetal with a brown lense. I saw a still shot of Craig geting off the plane in the Bahamas and the lenses are clearly brown.

Hello, I'm new to the forum, but have been lurking here for awhile. As my first post I thought I would let everyone know what I found out about the Persol 2244-S sunglasses from CR. According to the press release on the www.persol.com website, Bond wears the 2244-S, style number 834/33, or brown lenses with gunmetal frames, in CR. I was unsure of this myself, so I originally bought style number 505/58, the green lenses with gunmetal frames. Then after looking at this photo: http://outnow.ch/media/img/2006/jamesbond-casinoroyale/movie.fs/10?w=1400&h=929 , and zooming in on the sunglasses, they appear to have brown lenses with clear dark brown temples. If you zoom in on the temples you can see the metal frames inside. I decided to purchase the 834/33 frames, and sure enough, brown lenses, gunmetal frames, and clear dark brown temples with the interior frames visible. By the way, do not go by the internet photos of these sunglasses if you want to order then, because the frames look brown, not gunmetal in the photos. I ordered both my 2244-S sunglasses from this site: http://www.framesdirect.com/framesfp/Persol-tcpcsd/lb.html ,if anybody is interested. I'm interested to see what everyone else's opinion is on this. Thanks

P.S. I wish I had some actual photos for comparision, but I haven't taken any. If I can take some good ones, I'll post them for everyone.

    Mantis,

I thought you owened a pair, what tsyle number do you have? I cant imagine why Persol would get it wrong in teh press release but stranger things have happened.

I didn't even know they had a model with brown lenses, but if they do, I'd say that Bond wears those. In all the pictures, the lenses are clearly brown, but I assumed it had to do with the light or something, making the only available option, grey/green, look brown. But if brown lenses are indeed available, I think those must be Bond's.

But are they?... :) There's major-league confusion over this. Are the ones you modelled not brown?

From my limited reserach, he wears the steel framed model in (Nassau?) 2244-S. It's now looking like the lenses are in fact the brown ones but I bought the grey/green (as I wouldn't wear brown anyway)... It'd be interesting to find out the definitive answer but I think the screen capture here is pretty conclusive...

There are numerous people selling grey/green as canon though (they may be right). I can see why people are getting confused.

The second pair he wears (in the movie) is the tortoiseshell with green lenses 2720

There's a Limited edition of these too so I'm not sure what's accurate there.

    :)

Stop the world, I want to get off! I indeed bought the ones with the brown lenses and bought them WAY before the movie and WAY before the press release. All this time I had thought I ordered the wrong ones because everyone and their mother said the green ones were correct. Now that we have better evidence and I took a look at the movie I think the original ones I purchased are the correct ones. So, I need to go back and edit all those posts...

Well; straight from the Persol website...
The shade wore by James Bond is option 834/33 which particularly sets off the personality of this model, with brown lenses and a gunmetal grey satin metal frame.

So there you have it. B-)
  • DEVONKNIGHTDEVONKNIGHT CanadaPosts: 100MI6 Agent
Thanks for everyone's input on this. So it definitely looks like the consensus is brown lenses. Looks like I'm going to have to change my order. Works out better anyways as the brown lenses are about $50 cheaper. Don't mind saving money.:007)

I just received my new 2244-S 834/33 Persols in and just to confirm, thay are supposed to have brown arms, correct? I know the lenses are supposed to be brown but the arms are brown as well.
  • NightshooterNightshooter In bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
Really? Brown arms?? That is... unexpected. But then again, I don't quite remember in the film what they were.
  • BluetoneBluetone Posts: 31MI6 Agent
I've ordered the 834/33, they're the only ones that seemed to match up to the pictures I could find. I went with the theory that he was wearing brown belt and brown shoes... gotta have brown specs to match.

I got a pair of the tortoise shell ones, size small, but my head must be TOO small, they keep slowly falling off!

    David,

The arms are indeed brown, I got the same pair recently. I watched the film closely and you can tell the arms are brown. Particularly when he's driving the Mondeo, and his subsequent arrival at the Ocean Club. Funny how I missed this FOUR times in the theatre and thought they were the grey/green lensed ones! The DVD will help clear this up!
  • The Bond ExperienceThe Bond Experience Newtown, PAPosts: 5,490Quartermasters
WOW, that is a BIG difference....guess I will have my black armed ones as every day glasses....in addition it seems these are a true brown lense where my other ones are more a grey/brown at best. Live and learn.
  • JB1962JB1962 USAPosts: 194MI6 Agent
They definitely have brown arms, see the Out Now link on my post on page 1. If you use a photo editor to zoom in on the sunglasses in the picture, you'll see the clear, dark brown arms. When I first bought them, I wasn't sure either, but this photo confirmed it for me. Hope this clears it up for everyone.

I think they may have gotten mixed up with their shades. I'm certain they've got the correct model number, but they're brown frames and lenses.

EDIT: I also noticed they're described as just Satin Gun Metal on some sites.

The brown framed ones are the OTHER model he wears...I know, I know, like a very aggressive merry go round...:)
