Anyone see last night's episode? I thought that it was good but I'm even more confused as to where its plot is headed...

The writers are masking who's good and bad a little too well...

At least the action is picking up. B-)

It took a while to remember what was happening but it was a good first episode back. I loved the cliffhanger with Hiro at the end. Malcolm Mcdowall's apparent scheme was a clear nod to Watchmen.

Has anyone been watching an American show called Jericho? I thought the synopsis sounded interesting but I've never seen it. Is it worth getting into?

Great show last night! Two more to go and I'm still not certain who to trust.

I've suspected Petrelli of being crooked for some time now. So he's in-cahoots with Linderman? Maybe he's on the fence?

Have now seen all the episodes bar the finale. Apparently it only takes George Takei an evening to teach somebody to be a samurai. Wonder if he gives classes? :D For me the most remarkable moment has been Sylar returning home to his mother. That was quite an affecting sequence and it did give some idea of why he has become the way he is. Also liked the 5 years into the future episode. Bit dissapointed Eccleston hasn't returned.

You know, J.D., I was sort of mixed on the season finale because it felt so unfullfilled. I mean it lead up to the climax so well and I felt the last show came up short somehow.

Am I the only one who thought it was odd that New York City looked so deserted during the pre-bomb sequence? I mean I have taken night strolls there before and it was never like that... bare. ?:)

It would've looked cooler and more comic-bookish if they had a few normal onlookers during the altercation.

Sylar and his mother episode was very creepy and good.

No, Rogue....I thought the same thing. The streets were much TOO bare--this is NEW YORK CITY--the city that never sleeps. The empty streets reminded me of movies like The Last Man on Earth and When Worlds Collide, where it was really essential to the story that as few people as possible should be on the screen.

I actually liked seeing Nathan depart from the stereotypical role of the egotistical/crooked politician to become a hero himself, and use his unique ability to save others. He had to use that flying for something--why else have it?That Peter didn't fly(since he could)was strange.Nevertheless,I think the two brothers' sacrifice was well done and logical considering the storyline.

As for comic books,Kring's said more than once that he didn't derive any of his inspiration for this series from comics. He cites the old dependable Hero of a Thousand Faces and various world mythologies. He's even taken a few needless swipes at comics.Of course,he's never even looked at one.:v

Just once,it'd be nice if someone who creates or stars in a series or movie along the lines of Superman or Batman or X-Men or V For Vendetta or The Road to Perdition or Heroes,et al., would take a moment to acknowledge that the source of some of their production's inspiration actually came from comics.Just some of the inspiration--not all of it.It's really not as if the very mention of comics is akin to to saying that you're mentally deficient or that reading such things will make your brain explode.Even the now familiar code words "Graphic Novel" would be nice to hear occasionally.

Well, that's it till next time. I agree with Rogue that it was anti-climatic. Until the last ten minutes when things stepped up a gear and Nathan stepped in to avert the catastrophe. Interesting ending with Hiro in medieval Japan. I do hope that's Sho Kosugi under one of those helmets. :D (If you've never seen a ninja movie from the 1980's, you'll have no idea who I'm talking about.) One interesting development. The girl who can pinpoint other people with special abilities, mentioned there was somebody far worse than Sylar out there. New super-villain for next time I think.

Anybody else heard anything about the spin-off called Heroes: Origins. Empire is reporting that Eli Roth will be writing and directing an episode. This will no doubt involve a couple of the heroes going on vacation and getting brutally tortured and dismembered. Or something pathetic. Can somebody please stop this cretin? Here's the link though.

Man, I love some of the terms you use. All due respect to you, J.D., I haven't heard that word used since I read a FF comic at twelve yrs old. Doctor Doom or someone like that... Something clicked and I started laughing.

I have heard of the project and it's just milking a cashcow. Like you, I'm not thrilled about this either.

I believe season 2 premieres tonight. Not sure when it will in Europe though.

Monday night I had to record the premiere 2nd season episode because of getting in too late so I watched it and it seems to be setting up like last year.

Very good out of the gate with a couple of surprises.

Last night's episode was really good-as a matter of fact, the last two eps or so have been entertaining with The Nightmare Man.

Unfortunately with the beginning of the writers' strike, we may have a rushed season:

TV Guide reports that with the writers strike confirmed to start on Monday, "Heroes" is going back and shooting an alternate ending to the Dec. 3 episode that, if used, would allow the episode to function as a season finale.

The magazine says that originally, the episode was only supposed to serve as the conclusion of the current "Generations" arc.

That sucks. I do wish they would sort this out sooner or later. Before irate fans of TV shows start hanging writers from trees.

Season 2 has picked up. I'm at 2:5 now. I thought this year got off to a slow start. But the Nightmare Man plot has kicked in, and Kristen Bell has turned up as a villain
with the power of frying pub owners who also deal in stolen goods. I'm surprised they killed the big Irish fella, that is presuming that the body is his, as he seemed to be a developing character.

All we need now is for Eccleston to return.

I liked his character last season but I'm afraid that we'll never know if he returns...over here, there are only 3 episodes left under the circumstances.

I have a feeling that they'll feel rushed too. :#

This strike could go on for months.

It's a shame. Heroes is just kicking into gear. It would be sad if what looks like a very promising season is curtailed. And there may be more strikes next year, if the Director's guild and the Actor's guild can't come to an agreement with the powers-that-be either.

If you only knew how much of an understatement that is right now, J.D.

After last Monday's episode, H.R.G. is the man. You'll have to see it, it's that good. {[]

I've never really warmed to his role in it all but he's really gaining my respect lately. I won't spoil it for you. ;)

I like HRG. But then I used to love Dynasty, and Jack Coleman seems to be the only actor who was in that who still has a career. :))

I'm watching the UK airing and have just seen the '5 years in the future' episode.

One thing that's niggling me: if this is supposed to be what happens if the heroes didn't save the cheerleader (i.e, Sylar caught and killed her, absorbed her powers, bomb goes off etc), why is Clair still alive?

Or are we supposed to believe that she can even survive her brain being removed? And if she survived, why was there a newspaper cutting that future-Hiro reads that tips him off to go back and save her?

Oh, and not too many spoilers... I'm finding it hard enough not to read all of this thread.

I saw the repeat episode last night and I'm even more confused...

I understand why Clair is still alive: Sylar/President plainly states that he's only just meeting her for the first time, lops off her skull (whether she survives or not seems irrelevant), absorbs her powers etc.

But I still don't understand how future-Hiro finds a newspaper cutting of an incident that didn't take place 5 years previously. Why does he nip back in time to warn everyone to save the cheerleader? Nothing happened to her 5 years ago... did it?

Or am I missing something obvious?

Okay, are you still viewing the first season right?

Last night's show was good thanks to the last 30 minutes or so. It concludes for the chapter next week and it looks good from the previews. ;)

Anyone ready for Season 3? I hope that it makes up for the strike-shortened arc of last year where HRG was the only bright spot from it.

Anyway, a few promo shots are online for fans to check out here:

Interesting that Ali Larter is pictured. I thought maybe they had killed Nikki off. But given the 3rd season is sub-titled Villians, maybe they only killed one of her personalities.

That's what I was thinking too. If Nathan Petrelli's coming back in the third season after what happened to him last year, you know her character had to be somewhere in the mix.

So far the season 3 premiere is a mixed bag. The writers have made it a little too confusing to follow and why can't some characters just stay dead?

What really made me sigh so far:
    Mohinder is a poor man's Spider-Man or Goldblum's The Fly now. 8-)

Man, I wanted him killed off by now. I can't stand him. :))

I'm seriously not impressed with this episode much.

I still think that the writer's are cramming a bit too much in an hour show.
