I dont know if this has been discussed but Ted Baker was credited in the titles so they must have had some involvement in tthe movie.

Never noticed....good eye. So, I have seen their site but no sign of linen suits...Links?

Just want to put out there that Charles Tyrwhitt has some really nice brown suede chukka boots that look the part. They were recently on sale for $115, originally $295. I just received my pair, and they are really nice. I urge anyone looking for a slightly more high end shoe choice to go for these from CT, they cost more than the Hush Puppies, but are very well made and look great. Right now, all they have on their website is the wide version, but hopefully they'll sell their regular version again soon. http://www.ctshirts.co.uk/productMSB.aspx?DepGrpCode=&DepCode=&ProCode=MBGDBC

Hmm... you're right; I took a look at their .com and .co.uk sites and it seems you can buy anything but suits. Not to worry, buying a suit on-line is never a very good idea, always try before you buy. Ted Baker (and many other alternative brands of linen suit) are readily available from the high street, especially with summer on the way.

Is Ted Baker definitely mentioned in the titles? I hadn't noticed, but it's an interesting find. I think someone mentioned that Hugo Boss were in there somewhere as well.

Charles Tyrwhitt is an excellent source for very well made Bondian clothing. The Chukkas NS mentions are great, as are their Chelsea boots. Their Premium Oxfords have lasted me longer than my Church's Oxfords after 3 resoles each. Excellent value for money, and from Jermyn St. too {[]

I didn't know they did shoes, but I've been into the Jermyn Street shop a couple of times and the shirts seem very well made and a good value alternative to the T&A equivalents.

Just a thought on the Armani leather jacket: wouldn't it be possible to have something in a similar style made from scratch for less than $4000? There are a few specialist clothing firms floating around on the 'net... does Indy Margolis do anything in leather? Or the people who did the Indiana Jones jacket (name escapes me - I'm sure many of you will know).

I love the Sea Island CT shirts...most of my shirts have been replaced with CT shirts over the last two years and their slim fit line is wonderful.

CT shirts are top notch quality, I prefer them to Turnbull and Asser shirts as they iron much easier without creasing, they last for years of washing too and I wear them everyday.

Wested makes the Indy jacket and they would probably make a decent CR replica jacket too if supplied with the details. As would Indy Magnoli Clothiers, who makes the excellent Goldfinger suit and turnback T&A style cuffed shirts, which I highly recommend to the purists. Just send Indy(Tony) one of your old fitted shirts and he will make them for you with a perfect tailored fit.

You like CT's Chelsea Boots, ASP? My first CT purchase was a pair of brown Chelsea Boots, actually to match Craig's in Layer Cake, as they look quite similar. I beat them up, but they are fantastic.

Thank you Mantis for your excellent article on Bond's Clothes.

This is an example of the coat that Craig wears in the b/w office scene.
Its the same style, just not the right colour, BTW

This is most likely because in TND, Brioni supplied the Double Breasted light brown coat that Brosnan wears at the airport and while receiving his new car

This is not to say, however that your initial recommendation is completely false, that was a very good coat and I considered ordering one, but it was too expensive. i only found this jacket while looking for a Brioni Tie on eBay, accidents can be a good thing you know!

I was told, by somebody in the know, that it was a dark navy (almost black) standard pea coat....that jacket does look great but the weave looks wrong...I think. Anyway, we will know better when the blue ray comes out...;)

When will part to part two be released?

    Hi Mantis,

Have you find an alternative cheaper tuxedo?
I saw the original at Neiman Marcus at around $5,400 and the closest one least expensive was a
Zegna which is about $2,000. But was just wondering if you have found something else?

    Thanks

    Chris

Nothing really close BUT I did place a link in the article with ridiculously affordable tuxes...I ordered one of these for a Bond mannequin I am doing and I was happily surprised with the quality.

    Thanks Mantis!

How about something similar to the John Lobb's shoes?

    Cheers,

    Christian

The collaer on the Brioni Jacket looks very close to the collaron the one worn by bond, look at the nottvhed lapel:

Yes, but the Brioni is a sharp notched collar (internally speaking) where as Craig's is blocked notched collar (like the Pea Coat)...the Brioni looks like it is because the collar is somewhat raised in the auction photo. Not saying I am right here but it is becoming VERY evident that Brioni did less in this movie than people thought....quite a bit less.

Not sure I understand what you're both talking about above - are you comparing a Brioni notched suit collar with the collar on the Pea Coat? I don't follow...

Regarding how much Brioni did on CR - did they do any less than usual? I counted around 4 or 5 suits (train, hotel, meeting Mathis, Tux & meeting Mr. White) which all seemed to be their product. Is that any fewer than they usually supplied for a Brosnan production? Brioni didn't usually supply any of the subsidiary clothing (though they supplied their formal shirts for DAD).

Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick here?

Ok, so I am late to this thread, but forget what Craig is wearing - where did she come from? Woah. I don't recall seeing her in CR?! :s :o

well if she wore that bikini, you'd surely recognized her in the movie :)).
As far as I know, she's playing a tennis-player, who walks in the camera in the front of 007s Bahamas hotel, when 007 is receiving the keys for the Range Rover.
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

Sorry, Bill Tanner...I was referring to the Brioni COAT that was listed in an auction about, not a suit. It is probably just me not wanting to come to the realization that he wore a $5000 coat in that scene..:))

Part 2 will be coming out this weekend. To be quite frank I have been holding it up a bit to see if it could be placed with part 1 as a larger article. I think everyone will get a kick out of the accessorie discussion.
