IMO, $300 dollars for an Alden shoe, which is not worth the price, which also doesn't resemble the John Lobb styling, is not worth it, if you must have a higher end shoe, I'd recommend that you take a gander at the range from Loake, or if you do not find what you are looking for, look at the Dress Boot range from R.M Williams.
I will look into the Clark's.. And I know that the title of the thread says on a budget, but since I haven't been able to find the hush puppies alternative at the local DSW, I am trying
to get some other alternative... I saw some Hugo Boss that were a hundread bucks cheaper than the Alden's but they don't look screen accurate..
before any major debates start, i want to ask what maybe a rather ignorant question,
are we all talking about the boots from the bathroom fight part of the PTS?

We are trying to figure out what shoes is Bond wearing in the Bahamas arrival? We know that he is using some dark brown shoes, and to some they
appear to be the same that he uses in the bathroom scene.
I am positive that other members have verified that Bond's shoes in these two scenes are clearly different, in case this has not been proven, I have found the following still that indicates that he is wearing his JL Luffield or Becketts, we have previously believed that the shoe was in dark brown suede, but in this photo, we can see that they are black leather, as there is a shine to them. Also note, that the edge of the sole is black, and not brown/yellowy like in the photos we have seen from filming at Eton (where DC meets his public.
***By press-together I mean those fasteners you get on doll clothes, the things that u push together and pull apart***
Elasticated waist, short cut
SILVER/Stainless Steel zip NOT brass or anything yellowy
Choose a dark brown leather, with minimal shine, cowhide, but not very thick hide to keep it light, and definitely not lambskin, as there isn't enough grain to accurately replicate the film version.
Black lining of your choice
Slightly gathered cuffs, the cuffs should be just a little larger than required to accommodate your wrist and Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean (or similar thickness watch)
I also notice that in some places custom made clothing is very expensive, but I doubt in the USA, the price of custom leather jackets would be dear. My friend has had his made in Bombay (Mumbai),India, and is rather happy with his result, and payed 2200 rupees for it, less than 60USD.
I've gone backwards and forwards on the sequence where Bond arrives on the plane and then arrives at the Ocean Club. I think there's just a continuity error with the shoes.
On the plane he's wearing black leather shoes, when he arrives at the club and kneels down to tie his lace he's wearing brown suede.
I agree with you Blue. Like Mr. Big mentions, the ones that he uses when he is getting out of the plane look like the Beckets. But when he is front of the Ocean club it looks like he is tying brown suede shoes.
This may be a continuity flaw, but it may also be deliberate. Considering that Bond is a savvy traveler, he might have had a spare pair of shoes due to the fact that your feet swell when flying, so he may have changed his shoes to a larger size.
Bond uses different variants of the John Lobb Luffield throughout the film. Whilst at Casino Royale, he wears his Luffield in a well polished black colour, whilst receiving his briefing after the airport scene, a pair in dark brown, and I feel that Bond has only 1 type of 'dress' shoes, but in different colours and leathers, I also believe that the information that suggests that Bond also wears the JL Becketts, is incorrect.
Whilst at M's Appartment, he does, however wear the John Lobb Romsey boots, which can be verified if you watch the documentaries on the DVD or find a still of the scene, you can see that is boots have 2 sets of laces, and seeing as they are leather dress boots, would lead us to infer that they were made by John Lobb.
It seems that most of you are struggling to find a suitable alternative to these shoes, at a more reasonable price. I have your answer right here
Today, I went shopping and tryed the clark's boots and to me they don't look accurate and don't fit right... However, a local store in the DC area called Soulier, had a nice pair of shoes very similar to the JL Luffeld at 165 dlls and went for them... They also had a good pair of suede shoes like at 130 dlls but they were no accurate enough..
There is only one store in DC. They made their shoes with the same manufacturing company that makes the Bally's, but they put their name on it..I took the shoes to the repair to add some
caps and rubber sole to protect the original leather. After that I will post a picture...
IMO the Loakes Ritz look closer to the JL.. However, these were at a good price and close enought to the JL..
Today I recived my suit from the Baron's Boutique Store in Nepal and as Nightshooter mentioned, it fits quite nice. The weakest part is the shirt because it doesn't have the same pattern as the movie. To me the sleeves don't look as big as the guy in the website pictures but they are just a bit larger so I guess that a local taylor could fix that quickly..
But in general, I do recommend the suit...

I totally agree with Mr Big. There are 2 sets of shoes when Bond arrives iniitally to the Bahamas. Black off the plane and brown suade at the Ocean Club. I have another shoe question. The return to Bahamas after the Miami chase scene, what shoes is he wearing there? I think it is the brown suade shoes worn earlier. Ideas?
when you watch the film, as Bond and M are coming out onto that walkway type thing (to see Solange),you can see Bond's shoes shine in the Bahamian sun. This tells us that he's wearing brown, leather shoes, probably John Lobb Becketts, as this brown is JL's featured colour on their website.
If you mean the white linen one he wears when arriving at the Bahamas... I am almost certain that it is specifically made by the costume dept. The blue linen shirt worn in the bog fight has wide hems on the sleeve, very similar in size to the white shirt. Also the cut is very similar. My money is on it being a custom made shirt, but I could be wrong.
I'm pretty sure that Eagle was talking about the Madagascar shirt, hopefully ill get a PS3 and a bluray copy of CR to do a good screenshot to replicate the pattern
If anyone wanted the shirt that DC wears upon arriving in the Bahamas (with grey suit), click on the link below for the only (as far as I know) replica.
Sorry, I have been slow to post Part 3....to be quite frank there were one or two mean-spirited folk that posted on a different collector site how I had apparently "no life" to take the time to write an article like this. It momentarily took the wind from my sails but so many people have enjoyed and USED the articles that it re-invigorated me and I chalked up the comments to keyboard bullies. I also realize that not everyone can afford the costs associated with some of the Bond clothing but still want to have that "look" so the articles will continue...

May I also suggest a pair of Converse Jumbo's to substitute the Nike Air Articulate II's that may be worn during the Venice chase?
Concerns on the Leather Jacket (not intended to offend anyone, apologies if this does)
I believe that the following specifications could be given to a custom jacket maker
Short standard collar, unfinished (i.e. no shirt collar like stitching, fine wool/flannel underlining
4 Pockets;
2 Breast pockets, leather slightly gathered, with brown press-together fasteners.
2 waist pockets, slightly gathered, press-together fasteners.

Loake Arundel 2 in brown suede
Loake Ritz in black/brown
For your pairs in leather go for the Ritz, and for your pair in suede, go for the Arundel 2.
