Well Bond 22 is a direct follow on from Casino Royale, will we see what happens next with Mr White? maybe, maybe not.
The Reason Bond is there is to get infomation out of Mr White about the orginisation he worked for, M says "the trail's gone cold" Bond, after recieving Mr White's phone number from Vesper. goes to warm the trail up again and get some infomation.
After that Bond will either kill him, or leave him. I strongly suspect he will survive the encounter with Bond and turn up in Bond 22
You're not alone. We may not be confused per se, but we sure are aching to find out what happens next. The film closes leaving several questions unanswered: What organization is behind Mr. White and Le Chiffre? Is Mathis really bent? Hopefully some light will be shed on these questions in the next film. All I can say is be patient. The next film is due for release in November 2008.
Perhaps leaving us with an undeclared "To be continued..." was intentional on the part of the producers. Those who saw CR will most likely return for Bond 22 to iron out the remaining details. $ Cha-Ching! $ It just goes back to the old saying: "Give a wolf a taste and keep him hungry."
For this same reason I have a weakness for detective shows. I cannot start watching an episode of Columbo or Forensic Files for example without seeing it to the very end! X-(

P.S Was it just me or was the chase in the Aston hideously underplayed?
