I thought I would post this link for those members with big bucks to spend on collectables:
http://www.antiquorum.com/omegamania/home2.html
Click on the link, then click on "Catalog in English", then in the upper left hand corner in the "skip to lot #" box type 300 and click go.
This is the actual watch worn by DC during filming.
I tried to post a direct link but it would not work.:#

I suppose you could get it refurbished, but then that seems like a bad thing to do to that watch.
If its in the same condition as it was at the end of fiming it is most likely going to be mud. Bahamas covering as madagascar Mud.
was bond on the ground, to get sand in his watch during the building site section of the chase?
Stainless steel does not rust, and rubber doesn't either.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
If I have a screen-seen wardrobe from a movie, I don't wash and iron it, or am I wrong?

It is stuck on hard, you would have to use a chisel and hammer to get it off. I'd say that they applied epoxy then dropped sand on it, when it was set they just brushed the excess sand off.

I know someone who is actually considering doing that

Lot # 296 LE CR Planet Ocean Serial #1
Lot # 297 LE CR Seamaster Pro. Serial #1
Lot # 298 Seamaster Pro. worn by Brosnan in TND
Lot # 299 Seamaster Pro. worn by Craig in CR
If I only had the money for Lots 299 and 300!
The german representative had the watch in hands (after my request) and told me, that it is "only" real dirt, so, no clued-on sand for this one.
They probably prepared another one in the way, ASP9mm described it for continuity reasons.
By the way, the auction catalogue is absolutely amazing, a great shot of the CR watch on page 2.

It seems that there are a few of us going for this watch. Unfortunately a huge collector friend of mine has now shown an interest and he really does have more money than God. With three Astons under his belt, ther is no competition X-(
will you also be bidding on the watch? Maybe, we do 50-50, you get the bracelet, I get the rest. Just kiddin' )
By the way, if your friend has so much money, why did he not go for the modified Subby on Christie's some years ago?
But 3 Astons don't impress me much, I can cope with that! I don't have any idea, how many DB5 Corgi versions I am hording in my collection.

the ring watch owned by Ursula Andress just went for over SF260k...

That is more than 205.000 US$, I wonder, if your friend has gotten it, ASP9mm.
