Visnjic for Bond 22 Villain?

Lifted from another board:

"Apparently when auditioning for Bond in Casino Royale, Goran Visnjic did such a good job he burned into the minds of the EON psyche. So powerful was his performance that he single handly won the role of next Bond Baddie in the upcoming Bond22 film with Daniel Craig. It is rumoured that Goran's agent has confirmed the star is working on something massive and will be taking a well earned break from ER in late 2007. It is rumoured that Goran will be playing Vesper Lynds former love interest and that his role will be sizable, meanacing and significant to the plot of the upcoming Bond adventure. Bond 22 is continuation of Casino Royale and will be forming a trilogy story for Daniel Craig's rough and tough Bond.

According to a Croatian film magazine."

EDIT: Title changed to make it more specific. Besides, there are too many "Bond 22" titles! HB

It's only rumor until his mum goes public with it. :))

I think he would be a good choice. Can't really see him as a villain though. Still, more so than Bond. ;)

Is it only me thats bored with bond carbon copy villians though? If he is cast hopefully they won't write his part as a carbon copy of 007 just gone bad. giveh im more dimension than that.
The only actor to really seem credible in the role of what Bond could be if he turned bad was Christopher Lee in TMWTGG, however much I dislike the film I think Lee's performance in it was good.
Sean Bean wasn't bad in his role, but when watching him I was thinking "he would have made a good 007" and not "this is a good villian"

So if Visnjic is cast as the algerian boyfriend villian then make him different from what we have seen before and give him depth as a character.

A Croatian film magazine. . .why does this remind me of all the Indian news sources that were pretty well insisting until the day Casino Royale opened that Gushan Glover (or whatever his name is--no offense) would be playing the villain?

If true, the casting of him is fine with me. I like the guy in general, but like so many contemporary "leading man" types, he's got a predatory quality. He could easily play a cruel, selfish villain.

And 'French-Algerian' doesn't seem much of a stretch for him---less so, at any rate, than 'British' ;)

Yeah, this was posted at the CBn Forums: http://debrief.commanderbond.net/index.php?showtopic=39752

True or not, he could possibly make for an interesting villain.

Quite. I have no problem with him being a baddie. Infact, it could be a great choice. I like him generally, I just thought he would have been a rubbish bond.

I also have no problem with Goran being a baddie. Indeed, he could be a great choice. As for Bond, I would have put it more diplomatically, substituting rubbish for totally unsuitable.

I think he would be perfect.

It'll be an interesting character to cast/write, Vesper gave Bond a whole lot of crap before getting wooed by him, the BF character will have to have projected enough of something to Vesper to make her fall in love with him enough to betray her country--and Bond. Goran could indeed be a good choice for all that.

Following the storyline in the book, Vesper's previous boyfriend is being held captive to force Vesper to cooperate on the double cross. She then falls for Bond and sees no way out with the loss of one, or both lovers. When she kills herself, one would assume, although the book never says, that the boyfriend would be released. Assuming he was even alive to begin with. I think putting the character of the ex-boyfriend in the movie could be interesting. Why would he be a baddie, unless he was in on it to begin with hmmm, interesting. :D

Goran could be a good french-algerian villan. It could also be a good joke on what has passed to use someone with conventional bondian looks as a villan in a Daniel Craig Bond movie!
