I watched GF today (before CR54) and loved every moment. Again. I'll probably watch OHMSS in the next couple of days and love every moment. Again. Maybe it's my age, but ALL of these films are classics and represent the essence of 007. The only reason I'm subtracting from OHMSS is that I can't bear to take points from the others. TB isn't the literal best of Bond but it shouldn't die without a fight. OHMSS is a fantastic film (not just a fantastic Bond film) BUT it lacks the presence of Sean Connery, and that's not a slight on George Lazenby just a fact.

Given Connery's physical shape and attitude towards Bond at the time OHMSS was made, this was probably a good thing (given that one of OHMSS' greatest strengths is the energy and physical presence of it's star). I know I'm in the minority with this, and Sir Sean is still my favorite Bond all things considered, but in my opinion Lazenby was perfect for OHMSS and, for me, the film succeeds /because/, not in spite of, his presence in it. I know, for example, that I would not have liked the movie nearly as much had Dalton or Moore (two other contenders) been cast in it.

I too consider OHMSS to be a superb film (as well as a superb Bond film) however IMO all of the 60's films (save for YOLT) were brilliant films as well as being great Bond films. I consider OHMSS, however, to be the weakest of these four films precisely due to the casting of Lazenby (and also due to a script which I felt was less than ideal.)

I would have preferred that Lazenby not have been cast, but IMO he had two things going for him; his amazing physiality and his handling of perhaps the greatest final scene in the history of the Bond films.

Goldfinger should be at 11. Number 24 gave it a point, but didn't add it in.

Actually Number24 gave his point to FRWL-- he just neglected to erase the scratchwork from the previous poster. (The standings are find as is, in other words.)
