What was the very first car that you owned?

I was 19 years old when I saved to make the down payment on this baby. I went to school during the day and worked my butt off at a decent job to get one of these:

1984 Cutlass Supreme Brougham

My chick magnet meter shot up tremendously after I was seen cruising the Brooklyn streets in this baby. B-)

Sorry to the younger AJBers still aspiring to relish in this feat but anybody want to share?

It was a very popular car then; mine had a t-top. Something not seen in autos nowadays, Night.

I remember me and a friend went and bought cars on the same day; I bought a brand new Cutlass & he bought an AMC Concorde. ?:)

Call my old car what you want- I got results. ;) :v

I've had several cars. My first car was a white 1994 Ford Aspire:

(not the actual car I owned)

    aspire.jpg

I then decided I needed more muscle, so I traded 'ol Whitey for this bad boy:

a 2001 Ford Mustang (not my car pictured)
    6043.jpg

But tragically I was in a rear end accident. I survived the Mustang (named Charlene) didn't.

And lastly, my current car is a Silver 2005 Honda Civic LX:
    (Again, not my carr pictured):

My first car was a rather boring Ford Escort, as were two of my later ones. In between I've had a VW Golf (my favourite, but it turned out not to be stronger than a double decker bus) and a VW Polo.
These days I've moved up slightly to a Rover. Bride Of Barbel has an Escort, but takes my Rover every chance she gets- like today, for example! Which means I have to pick Son Of Barbel up from school in the Escort :(.

    This was my first car:

1982 Ford Laser Ghia. It was a 1.5 litre four, five speed manual, and despite the fact that it was the top of the range "Ghia" model, it had no power steering, no air conditioning, manual window winders and mirrors ... oh, and manual pull-out choke. I had it for only one year, and I miss it heaps, despite its shortcomings.

I decided I wanted something bigger, so this was my second car:

    x1paQ--t5wXdxTV0Aox5frN3X0I0YV4wCrhS_ry4bz-hblgbjUWMQzohhsmXT3FT8i9-KC0Dhp05Lnz2IMGELWGxvNleyJGydbb796ij5QIL3M

It's a 1989 Ford Falcon GL, 3.9 litre in-line six with three speed auto, power steering and air conditioning. I still have it in my garage, but I'm trying to sell it at the moment. I've owned this car for six and a half years now.

I then decided I wanted something more than just a base model "GL", I wanted something more modern and upmarket, so this is my current car:

    x1paQ--t5wXdxTV0Aox5frN3ZChSzJkaStdU7fqSQfIw--MWN8uxHuagb8GuwfvPgcJvz4V-ww7YbegEL3GfcJEv_hcTAMJ2cSYcAS6NBOi4MM

2005 Ford Fairmont, 4.0 litre in-line six, four speed sequential auto, power windows/mirrors, dual zone climate control, four airbags, ABS, traction control ... list goes on! I bought it six months ago.

:)) The way you put this, with the addition of the pic, you make it sound like the car was an action star or something.

I don't know why this sounds funny to me. :))

The minute I moved into the city(Hell's Kitchen) my Cutlass got stolen and totaled and I got a 1989 Audi. This isn't my actual car but it's the same color as mine was.

Probably because it is far from being an action star :p. It did have quite a few dents, including one in the back which prevented the boot/trunk from being opened. Both windows didn't work. The door trims were missing and the sunroof leaked, a huge hole in the oil sump and the fact it couldn't do over 50 after being run without oil. Apart from that it's an all action hero.

A '74 Mini 1275GT, similar to this one but in black. Rebuilt from an insurance write-off and sold when it started using more oil than petrol and because the driver's door was threatening to fall off.

    Ah, those were the days...

    Ah, those were the days...

At least it was a real Mini, not one of these foreign imitations that are far from mini.

Prior to my first car I had first a Honda SS125 and a few years later a Honda CB250N Super (Wet) Dream, which served me well, but got too old for it, I started to creak and groan.

First car was a yellow Fiat 127, a great colour for finding in massive car parks at the likes of Mildenhall Air Show, I was amazed at how few yellow cars there were - I drove it round the clock. Towards the end I had frustrating problems with the distributor, one after the other, and the head gasket blew just as I was driving into the dealers car park where I had agreed a px.

Second was another Fiat, this time an Uno, I don't know what it was about Fiat distributors, but eventually had to give this one up too.

Third was/is a Citroen Saxo, great fun.

A dark green Chevy Nova. I learned to drive with this behemoth. (it seemed big at the time) This was a gift of inheritance from my dad. So technically not my first lesson in payments.

I don't remember the year, all I recall is becoming of age and driving that rumbling beast through the snow.

    Well, I've finally gotten my first car! It's not really a lesson in payments because it was only $600! A real bargain IMO! -{

Introducing the 1985 Nissan Stanza. Here are some actual pictures of the car, taken by yours truly.

That wire's a CD player to cassette adapter--it just wouldn't be right to put a CD player in the dash... :D ) I love this car. It's fully loaded: power everything, automatic transmission, air conditioning, a sunroof, even a cassette deck--and it all works, too! I actually find that quite amazing for an '85 because I've seen some cassette decks freeze up after just a year or two... It looks so different from most cars you see today. I happened to park it next to a '07 Maxima today... The only way you could tell they came from the same automaker was the badge! I'm not really sure if this car has the same Chick Magnet factor that RogueAgent's Olds had, but cars like this have a certain "retro" factor that seems to be pretty rare today. Not to mention I'm a sucker for '80s stuff, anyway. :P[/img]

Power everything? I could've sworn I can see manual wing mirror adjusters in the picture ... although it does look like you have power windows, which is unusual for a car its age. Perhaps it was the top-line luxury model?

You forgot the stinger missiles and the invisibility cloaker I had installed... :v

Really though, it's almost power everything. ;) The only things I can think of that aren't powered are the mirrors--which I do believe is kind of a rare feature for an '85. It appears to have been a top-of-the-line model, because it does have just about everything that a luxury car has, and a few other things. For example, an oil pressure gauge, rear door child locks... The only thing it's missing is a third brake light... ?:) :s

After doing a bit of research, I found that the Stanza was replaced by the Altima, which is a higher-end model. This would lead me to believe this was at least close to top-line. In any case, it was only $9000 brand new (I wonder what the cheaper Sentra was). :O Amazing what they sold cars for 22 years ago, isn't it?
