The Ford Edge from QoS is now available on eBay:

    IMG_0086.jpg

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250621154375

The diorama is that scene where Bond abandons the villain Dominic Greene in the desert, leaving him just a can of motor oil to survive on.

This was going to be issue N°91 according to the list we got about two months ago, but I suspect it has been bumped up to N°90 as we have seen nothing of the DAF Cadillac Hearse that was going to be N°88.

Horrid looking car, but nice model by the looks of it.

The Ford Edge looks good and about the DAF Hearse according to the wiki-list the Cadillac Hearse is now 91 en de Lasalle Hearse 92. I guess we just have to wait and see what happends.

if there are any newcomers to this collection looking to fill gaps in their collection, i have 21 issues on ebay currently, assorted between issue 1 and 35.

    Click

i stopped collecting after issue 43 as i had no more room to display them. plus it's a huge financial commitment to keep up (when originally it was meant to be just 40 issues), so i applaud those of you who are still collecting!

i'm not trying to make profit, i just want to sell them to clear space. they're all brand new, still sealed/unopened in their blister packaging.

if you're interested in multiple issues, mesage me and we sort something out.

That's an expensive model kit. Looks pretty good though!:))

Back to this collection though , the Ford Edge looks alright. I think the worst one so far has been the lightweight landrover. It just looks wrong. The figures look like children and if they were stood by the vehicle they would barely be able to climb in. Unfortunately don't like this one though out of 85 , 1 baddy is not bad.

Any other vehicles on the wish list for the final instalments upto 110

    cheers

    Hi Guys,
Have just rung my local newsagent regarding ordering this new part-work of the model 1:8th scale Aston Martin DB5 and he has told me that at the moment it is on "test" for 5 or 6 issues up in Dundee, Scotland. If there is a wider interest then I would imagine it will be released all over the country - so I will just have to wait for more info...

I suppose it wouldn't hurt subscribing to it on the internet!
  • Diecast007Diecast007 Posts: 576MI6 Agent
Some great suggestions, some of them are ideal candidates for specials. Assuming 110 is the last issue in the collection, it has to conclude with a bang, something special . Maybe two or three models together in a bigger diorama. The collection is obviously successful, how many subscribers are there world wide?. This is obviously a considerable income for de fabbri to lose on conclusion of the last issue. We have at least year to go of more models, it could well be extended again.

The 1/8th kit will fall into similar criticism as other kits in the past as it will only appeal to a small number of subscribers. This collections maintains an interest with every issue:)

I've jut subscribed to the DB5 also, so I will have to cancel this collection, can't really afford both! Wife will kill me!
I will carry on picking the best of the last so to speak.
Should there be any "Subscription freebies" near the end, Ill have to eBay them!

I must admit, its been a long drawn out collection with only a couple of crap ones, my only two moans is the lack of Rollers & the fact we have been badly informed of the contents.
They could at least put up on their Webb site information about extending the collection, that would have saved us all trawling through miss information & "iffy" Webb sites!
I've hung on this far, but the DB5 has got my attention now, but I will carry on reading this forum, love the banter from you regulars!

Why don't you finish this collection, then start the DB5??.even if you order the first one then get the others on back issue????

    Hi,

I've been reading this thread for a while now, but have joined to share my view regarding this collection.

Basically I wish it would finish! X-(

What I thought was going to be the cream of JB cars from the film series, what would be a reasonable cost to spend on a collection of this sort, what wouldn't be a problem displaying when finished has turned into a farce, and I've told GE Fabbri how I feel about the collection and said I wish I had never started it!

This collection isn't even about cars now, it isn't called the JB vehicle collection, it's car collection, so that should mean cars, not bikes, tanks, motor skis or anything else bond uses. This collection has lost all it's worth and collectability, it's as bad as Star Wars stuff for flooding the market.

This collection is about praying on collectors now, knowing a large percentage will collect to the end to have a full set, and that includes me, this is why I haven't stopped, I hoped 85 was it, but no, it's still keeps rolling on!! :#:(

I did stress to them that they have killed their own market because of it. I will never ever buy another weekly, fortnightly whatever magazine collection series again, ever. If it had been a nice figure under 50 then I would consider other collections, even from Fabbri, not now though, never again.

So for me what should have been an enjoyable collection to own has just turned into a giant dust collecting collection that can't be displayed anywhere as I don't have enough room to display them. And yes I supose I will continue, gone too far now to stop, should have done like some others and stoped at 40 or 50. Money isn't even the main issue for me, it's the fact that GEFabbri have basically taken me and others for a ride for their own gain, and not even a ride in a JB car! X-(

Can't agree with you here. I love the fact the series included the Q-Boat, Dragon Tank, Parahawk etc, vehicles which we would otherwise have never been able to buy in such a large scale. In fact, I would've preferred to have the series as 'Vehicles' with a mix of cars, boats, bikes etc, which hopefully would've got rid of many of the extraneous / background cars we received with this collection (eg. Die Another Day car in plane, GT40 etc)

Well how ever you look at it, personally it's not what I thought this collection was going to be, just good cars and a smaller number to collect.
  • Napoleon PluralNapoleon Plural LondonPosts: 10,468MI6 Agent
Well, the key is in the word 'collection'. When you have that word, or collector, it's always just a way of getting blokes to buy something that ordinarily they'd not look twice at, but because it 'completes the set' then you feel you have to. And it always is blokes, I'm susceptible myself, it just seems to trigger something off.

Personally I couldn't consider buying most of the stuff in this collection, it's just way too obscure. I'm not put out by the stuff that isn't cars, I mean that's a bonus imo esp the Dragon Tank. But I cherry picked the best ones retrospectively, personally the early TWINE BMW stuff and obvious ones early on put me off from subscribing early on, and just as well.

It's funny too, had I wandered into some antique shop and seen the Dragon Tank for sale, mint condition, I'd have been desperate to snap it up even at four times the price. Now I can buy it, no hassle, it's available, I can't quite be bothered. I've bought the Dr No Sunbeam Alpine and it's nice, but it's v much a case of, okay, I've got it, it's there, so what? It's like the purchase on eBay that gives you that little flourish, little jingle and then it arrives in the post, you forget about it and move onto the next little jingle and accessing the paypal account... consumerism in action. :(

I think for some collectors the real buzz can often be in the anticipation of what is to come and 'the hunt', not what is hoarded away which might even end up seeming a bit unrewarding .

For me it's been fascinating checking out this forum and 'Kingsmodel' on eBay for news of what's coming up (and I shall miss it when the series ends) plus I've enjoyed receiving the models as and when, especially the unusual ones like the Q-Boat or the really well crafted presentations like the Lotus-sub.

There's also some comfort in the fact that some of the money spent on these can be recovered if necessary by selling on ebay – maybe not the whole amount paid but part of it at least. The interest in Bond model vehicles seems to be perennial. In contrast, some part works end up being worthless. A while ago, my son collected 'Star Trek Fact Files', which was originally advertised as 96 issues, but ran on and on until he eventually gave up at issue 200, costing him £400 in total. Hardly anybody is interested in these items now and he'd be lucky to get £10 for the lot.

Overall, I think the JBCC set is remarkable and don't regret buying any of them. After years of mediocrity from other JB die-cast manufacturers these seem like the makers are really interested in the models, and it's amazed me just how quickly each of the JB cars have been produced, bearing in mind the inclusion of figures, fine detailing and dioramas.

Like Hummerth2 I also haven't liked all of the releases, but understand that other collectors feel differently. The first one that I disliked was the Moon Buggy, but clearly I was in the minority on that one ...

I also will not be rushing into another partwork collection once this one is done, if ever again. 40 x £8 is a whack different from 110 x £8 ... the total investment required to have all the issues is quite high when one adds it up!! This is one reason I won't be signing up for the new 1/8th DB5 partwork when it eventually launches in my country.

On the positive side, like MovieCarFan, I have greatly enjoyed the experience of this collection. I probably would not have joined this forum if it weren't for the JBCC, as beyond the Fleming book set and the Ultimate DVD set I have not before had much of a Bond-collecting mindset. I too will miss the anticipation of the next model "reveal" from KingsModel :)

Despite some misgivings, I am commited to seeing the JBCC through to N°110 ..... assuming my local distributor doesn't decide to do as the French one has just done and end the series early (they have stopped on N°84, the Dragon Tank - and those poor guys on the French forums are now scrambling to find a British source from which to buy the remaing issues!!).

I am very sad to read comments from guys like Hummerth2. They are obviously not Bond fans and obviously not fans of this great, amazing collection!! What a whiner!

I can't believe people complaining about 8 pounds for the model, you should try paying what the collection costs me to get to Canada! Get over it!

Lets hear more from the rear fans of the real fans

I hope Fabbri keeps the collection going as long as possible and please bring on the weird stuff...flying Matadors and everything!!!!

I myself like FACT, have never collected any models(more records, than anything!!) but I have enjoyed the collection,& overall found the model super(apart from 1 or 2!!) but like Canuck007, £8 is not a lot to pay(less than a take-away!) and I also have my up & down moments during the collection..so I say keep em comin'..I have aslo subcribed to the new DB5 & can't wait to see a 2ft model car complete. -{ :007)

I also have never ever collectect anything else than this collection. And i like the collection oke in the beginning it was to be 40 now it´s 110. Meaning that at the end of this collection i will have spend 1420,90 (euro´s) about 909,30 euro´s more than when it would have stopt at 40 but so what. And yes some models i like more than others but that normal i guess. I´am now half way i got nr 55 (dodge monaco-avtak) last wednesday. I go to store every 2 weaks to pick-up my new model. So it looks like it will take me another 2years i think to get them all if they don´t extent again. I will go on with this collection even if it mean more than 110 models. I do hope fabri update´s it 110 list soon so we now what´s still comming.
