1) The Anti-Piracy adverts. "You wouldn't steal a car" Is it just me, or does anyone else find this patronising bile highly annoying? I've just spent the best part of £15 on the proper article, if you want to target the people that do buy these rubbish copies, then hang around in a London pub at any weekend. The biggest irritation is that this wonderful 'request' for me not to download or buy poor quality movies is that I can't even skip it!....
I HATE THESE! I don't download movies so it doesn't apply to me, but it's really just Hollywood whining about losing money. Their worst tactic was when they trotted out the 'laymen' like the carpenters and union people saying things like "don't download movies because you're stealing from us simple folk" Do you really expect me to believe that these people are really getting a cut of the ticket sales for these movies, or that Hollywood is going to stop hiring set crews when they make movies in order to cut costs? 8-)
As per Thunderpants rant...
I am surprised that there is no Insert to do with the film or chapters, or how Craig got be Bond - but some crappy leaflet from virgin and lastminute.com and something about blu ray titles.
This is really a dire presentation to the fans

I just feel a bit cheated. What could have been a very good DVD basically, wasn't.
Like I say, as a Bond fan, I'm pleased that I own the film, but disappointed that it comes in the format that it does.
The minute you put a Bond DVD into the player, it should scream 'Bond' at you. This didn't and my irritation is borne from the fact that it took me nearly five bloody minutes of circumnavigating around all the crap that they'd foisted on me to get the film started.
It really, really wound me up....
Perhaps I need to get out more....

Noticed that sometimes when characters are shooting guns, apparently nothing comes out at all....
I'm sure that Craig uses the Maruzen in a couple of scenes, from the lack of muzzle flare and the slow cycling rate, no shell ejected, plus the fact that he is pointing at the actor he is shooting (wouldn't be allowed with a PAK), it would make sense. All they needed to do to modify the airsoft to achieve this would be to block the mag spring half way down, this then allows the slide to fully cycle.
has anyone else noticed that the Chris Cornell YKMN video of the special fetures disc has been over dubbed with the version from the opening title sequence?
I feel it strange that they should do that, it also looks a bit weird because you have certain bits where cornell is strumming at his guitar and there is no guitar in the soundtrack.
I got my DVD two days ago and sat and watched both discs as soon as I got home. and I also aren't that happy with the special features. the documentray on Becoming Bond and Bond for real were interesting, even though I'd see nthem both before. but the Bond Girls's are forever documentary was terrible.
Firstly, they could have at least edited out the "Bond Girls are forever will return" bits, that come before adverts.
secondly, they skipped out certain Bond girls, I don't know if this is because there was never an interview with them or that they slagged off being a Bond girl too much, but it just seemed a little strange to have actresses spoken about, and then no interview.
and then i detest all the times that Whomever said, they are the first Bond girl to equal 007. I'm like shouting at the TV "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?" aswell as all the bits about "Bond Girl" not being politicaly correct.
Random Irritations about the Casino Royale DVD (UK Version)

2) Trailers for other films. By all means shove this rubbish on the copies meant for rental, but leave them off the copy that I've privately purchased for my own use, please. I have no desire to see clips from Emma Thompson's or Will Smith's latest DVD Offerings, nor am I the slightest bit interested in Spiderman Bloody III.
3) Special Features? My arse. No director commentary, no deleted scenes, just a couple of average documentaries that I'd seen before. And I'm sorry, but that Maryam D'Abo documentary on the Bond girls of the past is quite frankly, rubbish.
4) Product placement in my DVD cover. Leaflets from Virgin, some place in the Bahamas etc, all rammed in my copy, but no decent 'Bond' insert?
One sympathises, especially regarding points 1,2 & 4.
But I have no complaints regarding the quality of picture and sound. Thoroughly enjoyed watching Casino Royale, it has lost none of it's appeal from the cinema. In fact, I appreciated certain elements more. Examples being the construction site chase and David Arnold's score.

With that rant over, I saw the movie itself twice at the cinema in November and was looking forward to seeing it again. I wasn't disappointed. It's a teriffic Bond film and Daniel Craig is truly the real deal as 007.
Just a shame I feel slightly done with what's on offer on the DVD
Casino Royale the Movie - 8/10
Casino Royale the DVD - 3/10 Must try harder....
1) They are a bit of a joke. It's hardly going to stop people. Myself included sometimes.
2) I don't really mind this. Sometimes it's nice to see an ad before the films to get relaxed. And sometimes they are of interest to you. Skip them if you don't like them.
3) I agree.
4) I only got a couple of leaflets. A blu-ray one and a virgin one. My HMV copy came with a small bond on set booklet.
I would also say the title menu was pretty pathetic. Looked like something they knocked up on a PC in 5 minutes. Infact it looked like the sort of thing you would find on a copy.
Film quality was great though, picture and sound. Playing through my 360. Only sound blip, which I think someone else has mentioned was when Le Chiffre goes upto his room during the break in the game.
I have purchased a copy of Casino Royale on ebay double disk and watched it. I compared this to the Original with Barry Nelson that I have. Way beyond, no comparison. I had a problem seeing someone else playing the part but he is what the charcter is like in the Book.
I'm chuffed to bits that I have a copy of Casino Royale. Having said that, I'm pretty muched miffed about the so called special features, what's so speacial about them? Then I hear, there's to be another version, an ultimate I think. How can these people be allowed to get away with this. If they had said, we are releasing this pretty much bog standard DVD, but if you want to wait a few months, we'll be releasing another jammed packed with extra features, at least that would have given you an option to buy or wait. Just like LOTR movies. I think I might be putting in a complaint to the OFT, not that it will get be anywhere though, but at least I can say I've tried. There, that's my rant over too.

Sony Home Entertainment has issued a recall on several of their most recent top DVD releases. According to an imdb news story, the studio has discovered an update of their copy-protection system was causing the discs not to be played on some DVD players.
Affected titles include the Will Smith Oscar-nominated film The Pursuit of Happyness, the latest James Bond film Casino Royale, and the Will Ferrell comedy Stranger Than Fiction.
If you have one of these titles and have had problems playing the DVD in your player, contact Sony at 800-860-2878 to arrange for a replacement disc (at no charge, naturally).
