Holy costume design Batman, that is one busy look.

As for Joker the more I see it, the less it offends me.

I'm starting to get used to this new Joker as well, even though I shouldn't have to.

As to the Batpod, I'm pretty sure it looks the way it does because it comes out of the tumbler.

And as for the Batsuit, the shape of the cowl and neck makes the latter look scrawny and the former look too large. Also, the two lighter breastplates on the chest look like a pair of eyes staring out at you. It's a really busy suit and I hope the shadows end up obscuring most of the detail. And I'd gladly give up a month's salary if they'd go with the black bat on the yellow oval instead of the nearly invisible logo they have now.

I like it. I didn't much at first but like all of Nolan's complicated & odd designs, it too serves a purpose I suppose.

It would look very cool if this bike indeed emerges from the Tumbler. B-)

This will be the first Batman movie in which he rides a cycle since the '66 one.

According to IGN, the BB/TDK producer Charles Roven said that Bale himself performed a stunt where he jumped off the side of a skyscraper.

Holy crap, even when playing in an escapist adventure (especially one that happens to be a superhero film), the guy is 100% committed! Kudos to him! I would really love to have seen him as Fleming's Bond. Oh, well...

As for the Batpod, that photo is cool, but having seen the Incredibles, I really can't buy that a superhero with a long, flowing, preposterous cape like that would survive for long, especially riding such a bike. Theatrical yes, practical no.
Although I can't find the link to it, I believe I've read a recent interview with Bale on that subject where he stated his pleasure over the changes in the suit (lighter, more agile etc), but added that the cape always remained a hassle and would never work "in real life."

yeah the batpod does come out of the front of the tumbler, that was why it was designed without a front axel in the first place, and why when using the weapons batman slides forward and down. Although how you explain a military vehicle with a bike hidden in the middle I dont know

Because everything should be tailored to your tastes? Everyone has a different point of view, and we've already seen how exacting yours are; I'm surprised that you expect others' artistic interpretations to exactly match your desires (and those are based solely around what you've already seen rather than anything original).
It's just a fun film with some new ideas being thrown in, and I haven't seen anything that contradicts any previous versions in any significant way so far. As others have said; if they weren't sticking close to the source material and playing it for real, he wouldn't have a cape! :)

The design doesn't do much for me but seeing as it comes out of the tumbler there's probably no way it could have been anything more than the skeleton of a bike. It'll be interesting to see how it maneuvers with those massive tires; I'm not a motorcycle expert but with tires that big I'd imagine it would be hard to turn.

There's a neat little website with lots of pics of the old 1966 Batcycle and a custom copy that was made a few years back. Here's a link...

The old bike still looks good on its own...I could do without the side-saddle harness though... I don't remember it looking that gaudy with it. ?:)

It's definitely a sharp bike; it they changed the color scheme a bit (especially the white parts) it wouldn't look that out of place even today.

From looking at some of the other pictures, I'm pretty sure the entire sidecar assembly could be removed pretty easily.

BTW, Hot Wheels is supposed to be releasing a 1:18 version of the old Futura Batmobile from the TV show any day now. It will come in several levels of trim including a pretty expensive "Elite" edition. It's fully licensed and 100% based on the TV show version(unlike the Danbury mint version). Needless to say, it's as good as bought as soon as I see one available on Ebay.

That's not very nice. Apologies if I came across as unpleasant, but I was being genuine- I don't understand why so many expect their exact individual vision to be the same as everybody else's. As I've said, Batman's design here isn't how I'd do it, but that doesn't mean that I can't approach someone else's interpretation with an open mind.
I'm not sure why that's more unpleasant that saying that one shouldn't have to get used to someone's hard creative work...?

That's very cool. I've been loving the various comic book Batmobiles that have been coming out for the last couple of years; the TV one will be the icing on the cake.
I went to the Cars of the Stars museum earlier in the year- I was amazed that they actually have three proper Batmobiles in the tiny little museum: the Keaton, the Kilmer and the Futura (although I don't think the Futura is a screen-used one, it was absolutely perfect to my eye- it didn't appear to be a dodgy replica). Fantastic place!

You were basically saying that Tony has no right to not believe in Nolan's vision, which he most certainly does. Of course Tony doesn't believe that his vision and Nolan's will be the same, but that doesn't mean that if he doesn't like Nolan's vision he has to support it. He has every right to disagree with Nolan, just as you have a right to agree with him (and I agree with him, too, except on that awful Bat costume).

Just a little more respect in your posts towards other members would allow them to respect you more. Just because you end your post with a smiley face, doesn't make your combative first sentence any easier to swallow. Don't be so accusatory.

Guys, let's please not fight. As earlier noted, not everyone agrees with Christopher Nolan's version of The Joker's image or the new look of Batman's costume, but hopefully The Dark Knight will be turn out to be an enjoyable motion picture regardless(or maybe even because)of these changes.

We all have our opinions--and some of them are pretty darn entrenched(to put it mildly)--but that doesn't mean that we can't still respect each other and try to disagree agreeably.

    Carry on....:)

B-) If TDK matches the publicity campaign, posters, previews, etc, then it should be something special.

    I HATE IT! X-( X-( X-(

    Just kidding. :)) :p

Things look MUCH better after that trailer; I'll look forward to seeing an official release as some stuff was hard to make out.

Also, I like that international poster way more than the teaser; although Gotham looks a little too much like Metropolis; way too clean.

I figured you'd warm to it some. As will many others not sure about this. ;)

As for that poster, it looks great but the cityscape looks a little too "cheer-y". Nothing gothic about it at all. Something more dismal would have been perfect.

That's what I meant; but Nolan pretty much ditched the gothic look even in Batman Begins, so it's hardly unexpected.

BTW, the link to the poster now points to another teaser poster featuring the Joker; again, much better than the American teaser poster.

And Rogue, lose that signature image; it's way too disturbing. Bring back the Batusi :))

loving the trailer. Strange accent but hey it seems to work. I'm still a little upset about it being make-up and not bleached skin but WTF I trust Nolan it looks as if this could be a up there with X2 as a comic sequel thats bigger and better than the first

I've got a feeling that you may not like her outcome in this picture though. It's just a feeling; I know nothing for certain.

My luck with YouTube is very spotty; your link just takes me to the home page, with no sign of a Batman trailer anywhere. Do you know what it's called, so I can do a search?
