Actually Dan, Rogue AI is right. Look at the side by side poster and you'll see that Joker and Batman's face are slightly out of focus while Dent's is much sharper. Conversely, the playing card and batarang (and the hands holding them) are sharp while Dent's hand and pin are a little soft. It's subtle, but once you spot it, it becomes very obvious.
;% I see what you mean. It is indeed extremely subtle (at least for me it is.) ;)

The suspense for this movie is killing me. I've watched the trailer at least 20 times on youtube. It seems to be taking forever.

But, while searching through youtube today, I found this hilarious video where a man put on a Batman costume and walked through a grocery store buying random things. :))

    Take a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Snjh1hT853g

Is that the same trailer that was unofficially put up by jamesbondagent007 in his thread? ;)

I think it's a cool trailer (although Joker is just incredibly creepy :s) and I can not wait to see The Dark Knight. :D

    That's the same trailer.

Interestingly, we can see Eric Roberts's character (in the shot where the crime bosses are meeting with Joker) and a little bit of Two-Face (near the end of the trailer, where Dent is in a car and holds a gun). I've read elsewhere we can see Scarecrow as well (in the car on whose roof Batman lands), but I can't spot him.

I downloaded the extra large version of the trailer and did a frame by frame walk thru on it. It definitely looks like Scarecrow in the car that Batman drops down on. In that quick cut of Two-Face, it's a little out of focus but it also looks like the left side of Dent's suit is different from the right.

Speaking of Two-Face, there's a new interview with Aaron Eckhart over at the LA Times website where he talks extensively about Two-Face and The Dark Knight.

Be warned there are a few MAJOR SPOILERS in the piece so READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION. You have been warned.

{[] I am so delighted about that. :D One thing that annoyed me about BB is that we didn't find out what happened to Scarecrow. I so hope that Bats goes after him in DK.

My son picked up on the Two-Face comparison faster than I did when we saw this trailer yesterday. Panning slowly now I can see the same thing.

Batman gliding in that last shot leaves me giggling with excitement for this. July can't get here soon enough. B-)

BTW, many may not agree with Nolan's approach to the Joker cosmetic but just from these little snippets, Heath Ledger's portrayal just might put Jack Nicholson's to shame.

The article about Aaron Eckhart above mentions the contrast between the darker, psychological TDK as opposed to 'sunnier superhero fare' this summer...and I'm certainly glad for the difference.

IM was a dynamite start to the season, and IMRO set the bar fairly high...but I never bet against the Batman B-)

I've read the spoiler Eckhart allegedly mentions in that interview (allegedly, as there's a chance he could be lying) elsewhere and that scene seems to be included in the most recent trailer.

Personally, I hope that event doesn't happen and the movie won't be named THE DARK KNIGHT because of that. My 2 cents of an opinion is that I feel that Batman stories work better when such tragedies are only in the distant past (in his origin) and Batman successfully manages to prevent new ones; and not when he fails and terrible stuff might happen to people close to him. I prefer him as a kick-ass champion of good rather than a gloomy gus.

Now there's a face to give me nightmares! I don't know if it's real or not. . .it doesn't match the Two-Face action figure we saw earlier; but, then again, the toy might be toned down so the kiddies won't lose their lunches. Real or not, though, it's a big improvement over Tommy Lee Jones!

I'm sure we'll get some real pics from WB soon but I'm inclined to think it's legit if only because of things Aaron Eckhart has said recently in interviews when describing the makeup.

If it is legit, I'm kind of surprised it didn't push the movie to an "R" rating; maybe he's in the shadows most of the time.

It does look a little painted; not sure about that.

It also has grain on the picture, which is often something you apply in photoshop to make things look real.

It's a very nice job if it is fake- I'm not certain, though.

I think that this looks gruesomely awesome but I just can't see Nolan ok'ing something so "in your face" like that. Raimi maybe but not Nolan.

I mean, even if it is real & I hope it is, you could scare alot of the kids planning on seeing this. That look is just a little too horrific for a comic book villian and it maintain a PG-13 rating... :s

I'm sure I've seen the nastier side of that face somewhere else. I could be wrong, but as with the Dahlia/Eckhart pics that went up last year, I think it's a fake. Otherwise there are going to be some seriously screwed up children in the summer. :o I can see some parent at the kiddie shrink, "Well it all started after I took little Johnny to see the film about the knife-wielding clown and the man with half his face burnt off."

Do you think that Jack could've pulled this off in '89? Of course his recent demise is fueling alot of this frenzy too...

    This from IMDB.com:

Ledger's Joker Action Figures Sell Out In Minutes

Batman fans have cleaned out New York toy stores' entire supply of Heath Ledger's Joker action figure, within minutes of them going on sale. Devotees of the comic book series lined up early to clear shelves of the $9.99 toy, which shows Ledger in his final completed role before his premature death in January from an accidental drug overdose, aged just 29. An employee of Times Square's Toys R Us store says, "There are none left in the warehouse. You will be waiting a while if you want one." Some fans are believed to be buying up stock, convinced the figure is a collector's item - others are selling them on auction site eBay for up to $55 each. Ledger will be seen as The Joker alongside Christian Bale's Batman in The Dark Knight - which hits movie theatres worldwide from July.

Yes Rogue, he could have pulled it off. In his heyday, Jack was a big seller. I need hardly remind you that my WB certified Kent Melton statue of him as the Joker is selling for mucho bucks, if you can even find one of course. Stop hating on the 1989 Batman so much Rogue, it's beneath you. ;) {:)

No, please don't misunderstand me, I'm far from hating the '89 version because it's one of my absolute favorites of all comic films. You're talking to a guy who camped outside the theatre opening day (like a geek) many hours before the place opened for business that Friday. I saw it three times that day. Never test my allegiance to The Bat, my friend. Like Bruce Timm, I am a fanboy. :v

I will say though that Jack's Joker schtick hasn't held up well over the years for me. Lately I'm finding more enjoyment in Romero's campiness from the 60s show. Even Mark Hamill's Joker scores higher with me than Jack's and it's a cartoon.

Well to be honest, Romero has always been my favorite Joker.

Despite Nolan's Maybelline approach with Ledger, his Joker may end up being the coolest of them all...

    We'll see.... ;)

My brother and I also did a little camping for the 1989 Batman; we went to one of the local theaters in Boston about 4 hours before the first showing and there were already a bunch of people in front of us.

Now, allow me to vent a bit: you know that my brother and I are very fond of (ie: hopelessly addicted to) movie collectables. And you saw that beautiful Iron Man statue that Kotobukiya is manufacturing: cold cast porcelain, metallic paint, working LED's in the eyes, palms and chest. And all for a relatively reasonable $175.

So far so good; now here comes the part that makes me mad. DC Direct decides to have Kotobukiya make a Batman statue as well. And the pose looks fantastic. But, in their infinite wisdom, they decide that instead of making it from porcelain or resin, they're going to go with cheap, hollow vinyl. And instead of being a one piece statue, it's going to be a "snap-together" kit. Oh, and they're going to charge $125. X-( X-( X-(

I went back and rewatched the new trailer for the movie. It shows Dent as Two-Face for a split second and if you pause it, you can see small marks showing from the mutilated side and it looked exactly like the picture that was just removed. It was grainy with a salt and pepper sort of color. I don't think that picture was a phony.

I truly feel your pain, Tony. :))

I like the statue but shouldn't it be cheaper seeing that you have to do the manual labor yourself? It should come out of the box intact and brand new. That's the criminal part to me.

That's the thing; I don't consider something that you snap together a "statue". And vinyl means its hollow, mass produced and not hand painted or anything like that.

To be fair, there is a proper Batman statue from TDK coming out for $150. Here's a pic; personally, I really don't like how the cape is also the base of the statue.

This film really is putting the Dark into The Dark Knight. That Two-Face look is like something out of an 18- certificate zombie film. It looks like Batman Returns is going to end up looking about as dark and twisted as an episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
