Back to the important topic, Batman. I think Tony's idea of Deadshot might work well as a cinematic villian. For those of you not familiar with Deadshot, check the link. A villian that is proud of his skill, Deadshot could be a worthy adversary.
Not really sure that Deadshot can carry an entire film on his own. We already got Daredevil with Bullseye in a movie and he didn't carry that film on his own either... He's work for hire and not much else.

Deadshot may not be lead villain material; but he could be an excellent hired gun or second tier villain, much like Scarecrow in BB, especially if the mobs of Gotham continue to play a role in the next movie. You'd probably have to lose the fanciful red suit, although keeping the eyepiece might be an interesting touch.
I always though that the eyepiece was cool. The way he's drawn unmasked whether it was in a comic or cartoon, I always thought Jim Caviezel with a mustache.

Regarding Christian Bale, I could be wrong about this, and British law may be different. But I don't think actual physical contact has to be made to qualify as an assault here in the States. Just a threat or an attempt to hit someone is enough. Throwing something in someone's direction would qualify, I think. None of that is proper behavior, of course, but it's not beating up your mother or sister, either.

Latest: Batman star Christian Bale has denied assaulting his mother and sister after he was released from police custody on Tuesday.
Bale, 34, is alleged to have attacked his mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, at London's Dorchester Hotel on Sunday night.
In a statement issued shortly after Bale's release, a spokesperson for the star says: "Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister.
"Mr. Bale, who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale."
The actor's arrest came just hours after he attended the European premiere of his new Batman movie The Dark Knight in London's Leicester Square on Monday, alongside stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and Sir Michael Caine.
According to reports, authorities did not attempt to arrest the star until after the high-profile event because they were certain Bale would not flee the country to resist arrest, adding that the lack of severity in the case did not warrant an immediate response.
The actor has reportedly been ordered by police to make a court appearance in September.

Unfortunate news about the arrest, of course. I don't know how it happens in the U.K., but what happens during a court date becomes a matter of public record in the States---i.e., if a plea is entered (Guilty, Not Guilty, No Contest), charges brought or dropped, etc. Things should be somewhat more clear at that time. I can't imagine a worse filter for information than the local tabloids!
Whatever happened at the Dorchester, it's a regrettable situation for the family, and for Bale himself of course. If he's not a criminal who laid hands on his own family, he is---at the very least---in a bad family situation with untimely PR ramifications.
Hopefully a quick resolution is in the offing.

On a more positive note, The Dark Knight had a great past evening at the box office. It raked in $24,493,313 bringing its total so far to $182,904,796 in just four days of release.
If this pace keeps up, by this weekend the movie will bulldoze over 300 million and threaten Spider-Man 3's domestic box office of 336 million rather convincingly. B-)
I better put my co-worker on suicide watch after that last bit of news. )

I'm not going to comment on the assault allegations except to say that everyone are innocent until proven guilty (and this includes Radovan Karadzic JD :v), and also that I agree that unless Bale did something truly dreadful, it should have been kept in the family.

was a direct reference to Leatherface? It may not have been intended that way (those more knowledgable about Batman than I will know whether or not the Joker has done something similar in the comics), but it was certainly something I got from that scene.

"The Dark Knight" star Christian Bale confronted his mother on Sunday after she allegedly insulted his wife, the U.K.'s Daily Mail reported.
Sources close to the Batman actor, who was arrested on Tuesday on an assault claim, told the Mail that Bale "flew off the handle" at London's Dorchester hotel after Jenny Bale said "some outrageous things."
The Welsh-born actor, 34, was arrested and released on bail without being charged with assault, which he has denied.
Meanwhile, sources directly connected to the Bale case told TMZ.com that Bale pushed or brushed his mom out of the way during the alleged altercation, but she was not hurt and did not fall down.
There are also reports circulating that Bale was arrested for verbal assault. In England, there are two classes of verbal assault, Class 4 and Class 5. Class 4 is more aggravated than 5, with "an intent to cause alarm."
Bale is also said to have become depressed over the death of close friend and "Dark Knight" co-star Heath Ledger, the Mail reports.
"Christian was stressed, but he didn’t lay a finger on anyone. Instead, he flew off the handle and cussed his mother," a source said. "He just got very loud because his mother was saying some very outrageous things about him, and his wife.
"Christian's attitude is that this was his mother's fault because she became very provocative in an argument they were having," the source said, adding: "Things got out of control and he now says he wishes he just left the room.
The incident apparently comes at a time when his marriage to Sandra "Sibi" Blazic, a former model and makeup artist and the mother of the couple's young daughter, is enduring difficulties, according to the Mail.
"He has stresses in his marriage," the source said. "He can have a terrible temper. Instead of lashing out at his wife, he sometimes lashes out at people around him."
Bale's wife, who has been married to him for eight years, was by his side at the London premiere of "The Dark Knight," which was also attended by co-stars Sir Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart.
British media reported that Bale's mother and sister told police he assaulted them at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night, a day before attending the European premiere of "The Dark Knight." The Sun newspaper said the complaint was filed by sister Sharon Bale and mother Jenny Bale.
However, Bale's mother Jenny told the Daily Mail she was not the one who called police.
"Yes I was there and yes there was a family situation but the police are handling it and I cannot say any more at the moment. We didn't call the police to the scene. I can't say any more but we didn't call the police."
A woman thought to be Bale's sister, Sharon, told reporters, "it's a family matter," from her home in Corfe Mullen, 110 miles southwest of London.
Sharon initially denied any knowledge of an assault, but then admitted there was "an incident."
"There was an incident but the police are dealing with it. It is an extremely sensitive situation," she said, according to the Daily Mail.
Reports of Bale's arrest surfaced just days after "The Dark Knight," which co-stars Heath Ledger as Batman's nemesis the Joker, took a record $158.4 million at the box office in its opening weekend.
The Sun said police did not question the actor Monday because they did not want to interfere with the premiere of the movie. The next scheduled stops on the film's European premiere tour were Madrid on Wednesday and Tokyo on July 28.

Aaron Eckhart would reprise his role from The Dark Knight - because working with Christian Bale is "phenomenal".
Eckhart, who plays District Attorney Harvey Dent in the sequel, confesses he "absolutely" would star in a third Batman film.
He tells WENN, "To work with Christian (Bale) all over again, and the cast, would be phenomenal. I think this movie is a movie of a lifetime."
Well, in all fairness all that says is that he'd like to be in a 3rd film, not that he's signed. Dent's final fate in TDK is suitably vague enough that it could go either way ... and I've seen many mutually exclusive summaries and spoliers of the movie that disagree with one another as to what actually happens to him at the end. Ultimately, it will come down to what story Nolan decides to tell.
By the way, not sure if you're aware of this or not, but there are persistent rumors that he's been offered the lead in ... Captain America He's been coy and evasive in his answers, saying that at 40 he might be too old and that his favorite comic book character was actually Green Lantern (!!) but he still hasn't definitively said he won't do it.

SpectreIsland is very fond of vodka & tonic (I'm pretty sure he downed a few to console himself after Italy was ousted from Euro 2008).
Actually John, I think he snookered you; we both work for the courts and have seen this sort of thing more often that we can count. Knowing my brother, he was probably playing the percentages; although I'm also sure his rabid love of the Batman also had something to do with his coming to Bale's defense.

I thought that Aquaman had some sort of facial hair from the previous smaller image that I had posted; he looks like a porn star with that haircut and beard.
I still like the style of the animation (from the few shots that I've seen) but I can't wait to see it in motion to really critique it.

a little vague. Even though the car crashes it doesn't catch fire and we don't see any bodies.
I think he's dead because if I understood the plot correctly at one point Gordon tells Batman that there were five murders committed by Dent, including two cops; I assume those to be Maroni, his driver, Wurz (the crooked cop he killed in the bar) and two other bodies that, unless I missed something, the film does not account for.
It could also be that some scenes that explain this stuff in more detail were cut for time or to lock the film into getting a PG-13 rating.

I really give up with Nolan. BB's emo-boy excesses are missed in TDK, as Bale without angst is... well, boring. And how could the filmmakers set us up with "Gotham needs a hero/savior/Dark Knight" for 2+ hours then totally ignore it in the climax: I guess those two boatloads of Gothamites don't need anyone but themselves to work through tough "hero" choices and come out on the side of good and right. Guess the Caped Crusader is out of a job then. That ending would be like Bond offing himself at the end of CR out of despair.

Well, in all fairness all that says is that he'd like to be in a 3rd film, not that he's signed. Dent's final fate in TDK is suitably vague enough that it could go either way ... and I've seen many mutually exclusive summaries and spoliers of the movie that disagree with one another as to what actually happens to him at the end. Ultimately, it will come down to what story Nolan decides to tell.
By the way, not sure if you're aware of this or not, but there are persistent rumors that he's been offered the lead in ... Captain America

Actually John, I think he snookered you; we both work for the courts and have seen this sort of thing more often that we can count. Knowing my brother, he was probably playing the percentages; although I'm also sure his rabid love of the Batman also had something to do with his coming to Bale's defense.
Now that's a stereotype about Scotland that I just refused to lump all people in one basket with.

I thought that Aquaman had some sort of facial hair from the previous smaller image that I had posted; he looks like a porn star with that haircut and beard.
I still like the style of the animation (from the few shots that I've seen) but I can't wait to see it in motion to really critique it.

Maroni's final fate is...
I think he's dead because if I understood the plot correctly at one point Gordon tells Batman that there were five murders committed by Dent, including two cops; I assume those to be Maroni, his driver, Wurz (the crooked cop he killed in the bar) and two other bodies that, unless I missed something, the film does not account for.
It could also be that some scenes that explain this stuff in more detail were cut for time or to lock the film into getting a PG-13 rating.

I really give up with Nolan. BB's emo-boy excesses are missed in TDK, as Bale without angst is... well, boring. And how could the filmmakers set us up with "Gotham needs a hero/savior/Dark Knight" for 2+ hours then totally ignore it in the climax: I guess those two boatloads of Gothamites don't need anyone but themselves to work through tough "hero" choices and come out on the side of good and right. Guess the Caped Crusader is out of a job then. That ending would be like Bond offing himself at the end of CR out of despair.
Ledger was awesome, the rest of the film sucked.
