Did I miss the joke?

Thought I would start a thread to hopefully shine some light on some of the Bond jokes that may have flown over our heads over the years.

For instance,

Where is the humor in the line...

1.) "Named after your father perhaps," which Bond says to Plenty O'Toole after she introduces herself in DAF?

Where is the humor in the line...

2.) "But of course you are," which Bond says to Jenny Flex after she introduces herself in AVTAK?

    Well I read the first one to be taken as an abrreviation of 'Plenty 'of' Tool'. Tool being a reference to a mans member ( :D ).

    I'm sure he says the second one to another character as well. Just a
    Moore'ism I think. He can make anything sound suggestive! :))

    I believe that a tool is a slang word for the male organ, which is what Bond was referring to when he made that quip. I don't know what he meant by his comment to Jenny Flex. As for me, in GE, Bond tells Xenia that Ferraris have a certain number plate, including the stolen ones. It's not a joke, but I'm not exactly certain what he means by that. ;)

    I think he was just trying to pull off a convincing act that he worked for the Motors Vehicles Department. Similar to Bond pretending to be a Marine Biologist in TSWLM.

    The name "Jenny Flex" is a very poor pun on "genuflects", ie to kneel (as in church). This, of course, would put the lady in question in the perfect position for Goodhead :o! It's just another of the double-meaning names for characters.

    There's a difference between a bad pun (ie one that makes the listener groan) and a poor one, IMO. Basically, a bad pun still works while a poor one doesn't!

    I never got that Jenny Flex joke, just thought it was an oblique homage to the Plenty joke, where she says "I'm Plenty" and he says the same.

    I think it was a little joke informing her he new it was stolen. A sought of one upmanship because she hadn't put a genuine plate on.
