Charles Tyrwhitt - opinions?

It appears that at the moment (they see to have this frequently though) Charles Tyrwhitt is offering 50% off all its stuff. I've never bought from them but they do have some nice stuff, and of course a shop on Jermyn Street. However all thet glitters is not gold (and other suitable cliches), so I was wondering has anyone bought anything from them before? They have a 3-month no-questions asked return guarantee which is good, but anyone know what the quality is like? Are there items going to fall apart after a few months?

Since summer is coming up I need some new shirts, so I was looking at their Sea Island Cotton range and the Cotton/Linen blends. Any advice?

I own a number of their shoes, which are of top notch quality. I love the chelsea boots I bought from them to death, and are in amazing shape even after all the wear and tear I've put through them the last year or two. I also own a lovely pink sea island shirt from there, which is fantastic. I highly recommend them, especially for the price!

In the Memorabilia section of this site, CT is often discussed because of its Bond-like clothing and its great quality.

I just took advantage of their 4 for $200 shirt offer and placed my order a couple of days ago. From what I can tell by the pics and descriptions on their website, I think I'll be pleased. Nice selection of neck ties, too.

I have several of their shirts and they are very nice. They used to be made in England but now they are being outsourced. The quality though is still very good.

Here's another vote for CT. They outlast my T&A shirts and look great. In fact they are slowly replacing all of my T&A shirts apart from the turnback-cuffs which I can only get from them. The shoes are also very nice. In fact all of their stuff is top-notch and a bargain. The ties keep their looks and do not pull like T&A's.

I know this thread is about CT but having seen T&A shirts mentioned with their turned back cuffs that 007 used to favour I thought I'd let you guys know of a budget way to get a white shirt with said cuffs. Amazingly Marks and Spencers offer an online Made to Measure shirt service which start off at around the £30 mark and go upto just over £50.

You get a choice of fabrics, collars, plackets (How the front of the shirt looks) Hems, monograms but more importantly they offer different cuffs including The "cocktail" cuff which is the foldback cuff favoured by T&A

So if you want the look but can't afford a T&A shirt I'd say go for one of these.

I'll be ordering one of the afore mentioned shirts soon -they take about 21days to be made up and delivered -when it arrives I'll let you know what I think of it. Obviously I'd rather have a T&A as 007 is unlikely to get clothes from M&S!

I'm ordering one on the 28th -so hopefully it will be here whilst you are down here mate! However although I will get a white shirt eventually -for my first designed shirt I've gone for a "Mod" look with a button down collar -however I am still going for the cocktail cuffs. The shirt will be black also -I'm also having a subtle monogram sewn in in black on one of the said cuffs. It should be a very stylish shirt. Obviously if I can afford it -I'll order a more Bondian one too.

Well I did order a shirt with coctail cuffs should arrive just after the 16th May. Chose a white one because of limited funds -the black one was more expensive. Still went for button down collar -because that is the look I want at the moment. but when it arrives -if I'm happy with it -I will order a more expensive one that will be more Bondian with a more traditional collar and maybe a covered placket so its more like a evening shirt.

Well my Marks & Spencer made to measure shirt arrived today -and I love it! As I said I ordered a white one with the cocktail cuffs which are indeed very Turnbull & Asser in style. The only personal concession I made so it isn't completely Bondian is that I've gone for a button down collar. But I have to say the shirt looks very Sixties -If I get a chance tomorrow I will post a picture of me wearing it so you can see what you think.

BTW it only cost £30 -so cheap as chips! B-)

Can't find the Camera -probably in the wife's car -So will have to upload picture tomorrow.

I got one too, I'm quite impressed. The cuffs need starch though, otherwise they tend to flower-out. Good find that man {[]

If your both impressed, then that's good enough for me. I'll check out SC1's shirt in a couple of weeks and may just order one for myself

I just received another CT shirt the other day. 16/34 and fits almost like the first one, but it is not the slim-fit.

However, even the CT regular fit(and G&H and T&A) fit better than any American shirt I've had.
