If you could remake a Bond Game

Hello all,

We all have read many posts over the years about the highs and lows of the James Bond video games.
With this in mind I thought we should play a game, were if you had the chance to remake a Bond video game that you felt was poorly done what would you change?

If I could remake a game I would remake FRWL for all the systems it was realeased on.

I would start by fixing the driving engine so when you are driving you have tighter control on the car's speed, turning, and brakeing.

Next I would scrap the respawning enemies in the primary stages of the game, like Goldeneye: Rogue Agent this feature was overused and detracted from the game play.

Also the game felt like was rushing to much with the story, it would help if there were more levels
with Bond spying on the Russians, rather than one gunfight after another.

Lastly I would scrap have the fight with Red Grant
take place on the train and it would be hand to hand combat, no weapons til the cut scene of Grant's death. I would also either revise Eva's part or drop her since she did not do much to impact the games story.

Id have EON as is. But id fix its multiplayer so that it had GE:RA's maps and FRWL's gameplay.

Excellant Ideas, as long as were talking mutiplayer
I would put Bond as a playable character in From Russia With Love and Everthing Or Nothing since both
did feature him and they should have since the game is about James Bond, not the supporting players.

Also if I could I would remake TWINE for the Nintendo 64, it was a good game but it really needed
the chase down the Thames with the Q boat as a playable level and not a cutscene.
Also I would include the casino and pipeline levels from the Playstation version.

Since I am a huge Gameboy fan, I have owned a different Gameboy at one point in time or another. I would definatly remake Everything Or Nothing, I would put in the Q spider, coin grenades, Thermovision, and fix the Nano suit so the power does not run out as fast as it does.

Also it is very short in terms of gameplay when compared to Nightfire for The GBA, so I would add in
all the levels from the console version, and fix the bugs in the driving since they were some of the hardest in the game.

Personally if it was upto me i'd remake a few of the Bond games, such as; Everything Or Nothing, From Russia With Love and GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, but seeing as I can only pick one from that list then I'd pick Everything or Nothing (Mainly because the changes I would make could also be used for From Russia With Love.)

First of all, I've never liked the 3rd person perspective of the newer Bond games, so I would start by doing away with it and bring back the 1st person camera again, or at least give the player the option to switch between the two, perhaps make the 3rd person view available when performing hand-to-hand combat.

The next thing I would do is completely revise the multiplayer, as I thought it was rather...lacking, as I'm sure alot of you will agree. I would bring back the classic 'Deathmatch' mode and also a varied selection of different modes, much like NightFire. I would keep the co-op mode but not as it is now, I would enable the player to team up with a buddy and tackle the main storyline, not sure what this would be like in a Bond game, but hey, it worked for Timesplitters! Also I would include a wider array or characters and maps from classic Bond movies within the multiplayer - and also make Bond a playable character as he has been in previous games. Finally within multiplayer I would bring back Oddjob's hat as a weapon for anyone who plays as Oddjob.

Last but not least I would change the manual aim mode for Bond's Walther slightly, rather than just having the usual crosshair, when the player hold's the manual aim button the game would switch to a view looking down the gunbarrel of the gun, just like we see at the beginning of each Bond movie, I would use the gunbarrel from Brosnan's movies as I like them best (not his movies, just the gunbarrels - although his movies are very good!), the reflections within the gunbarrel could react when the player moves the aim around. Obviously I would include the crosshair in the centre of the gunbarrel - otherwise it would be very hard to aim! This is just something that I have always wanted to see in a Bond game, just as a novelty really.

Basically all of the things I would change also apply to From Russia With Love.

That's it, I think i've covered everything....or nothing! (Sorry for the very cheesy in-joke)

If I were to remake a Bond game, it would probably be Tomorrow Never Dies for the PS1. I would...

    - Include hand to hand combat. I remember when I first played the third level, I was at war with my control pad trying to get Bond to punch someone. :)) So yeah, that would be the first thing I'd fix. That way, rather than have Bond get knocked out and thrown into an empty room with a one way mirror, we could have him go into the room with the heavies and duff them up like in the film.
    - Have Paris get topped like in the film and then have the boss fight with Dr. Kauffman rather than before.
    - Have the car level in the car park.
    - Have a level featuring the motorbike chase, using the area that was used in the level in where you controlled Wai Lin.
    - Have the boat level much like that of the film.
    - When we see that clip of the boat going up at the end of the game, a clip should then follow it with Bond and Wai Lin together amongst the wreckage.

That's what I would've done if I was given the chance to improve the game, especially when it seemed the creators rushed it whenever I watch the ending featuring clips from the levels.

If I could remake a game it would definitely be QoS. The whole thing felt rushed, there was little in the way of story continuity and the whole White/Haines patter throughout the game is annoying. Instead of flash back sequences I would have played the missions in order starting with Casino Royale. Bond would be sent by M to eliminate Dryden and his contact in Prague. Have Bond move stealhily through the building.
Dryden's security forces have been compromised as well and Bond has to get to Dryden before he's able to sell any more secrets to his contact. Then I would follow the story through the Casino missions, including a couple of driving levels, especially after Vesper is kidnapped.
Another driving level could happen after Bond has captured White and then again when he rescues Camille. We could have a few more interludes with M explaining why Mitchell had so much protection and backup. What information was he in possession of that was so important that he had a small army overing his escape. Why did Mollaka have so much back up?
Story continuity is everything in these games. Have the story told in sequence with additional missions and without the annoying voiceovers of White/Haines, would have made the game much more enjoyable.

After reading the initial reviews of Bloodstone I am not too hopeful for any improvement. Activision needs to get their act together and start giving us better stories and more involving gameplay. Otherwise, they are going to lose their franchise.

Of course Jade66 !!!! QoS had such a potential to be a great game. The first mission should have been the elimination of Dryden and his contact. Now the chase of Mollaka on Madagascar was so short, this needed to be a level similar to Mirrors edge, with a lot of jumping and sprinting and then it was critical to have included the sequence in the embassy. I don´t know if bond was not supposed to kill soldiers there, he could have loaded the p99 with rubber bullets or something.

Later on Nassau, a stealth mission after a little driving to the ocean club would have been nice where bond distracts the security guards with the crashing on the parking lot. The Miami airport level had to take place on the map used in the multiplayer, not in the offices, and being a hostage-realese mission ending with the rush on the runway.

The train level heading to Montenegro was excellent tie in with the story, I love train missions, and by giving bond fans chance of kick Marc Forster´s ass because he deserves it :))hahaha. Now back to Montenegro again, they could have included at least to more levels to have the feeling of exploring much more of the city because, Montenegro was such an exotic and elegant location and most of the time of the movie happens there. Perhaps if all on Montenegro was poker playing, a short sequence of the card game would have been nice.

And of course, the most important, throw away that stupid briefing screens and get recreated the scenes of the film with every actors´faces.

Is there any actual Gambling sub-levels on any Bond games from the past??

I love games with a bit of variation e.g. Blood Stone with driving levels.

I would like Rockstar to do a Bond version of GTA, think it would be killer!!!! :))

Rockstar Games + 007 Licence = Gaming redefined.

Yes, the game James Bond 007 for the Nintendo Gameboy had gambling in it. You could play Baccarat, Red Dog, or Blackjack at the casino or by using the right password play the card games at anytime. Also the Playstation version of Twine had level based on Valentin Zukovsky's Casino and the player had to play a Blackjack mini game and win big before Valentine would talk to Bond about Renard.

Lastly the Gameboy Advance version of Everything or Nothing had a Blackjack mini game, and the DS Port of Bloodstone has a Texas Hold em mini game. If it were up to me I would include some gambling in the console versions of Bloodstone and QOS.

It would be awesome though wouldnt it?? I mean in the GTA series you have missions in the air, boats, cars etc.

You also have banter and fun with the ladies, GTA IV gave us subgames etc therefore we could throw in some casino games.

Add some skiing in and a James Bond world and it would be perfect and of course sell by the bucketload!!!

    Yep - dreaming lol

Not a necessarily a remake but an update of James Bond the Duel :

    - Update Bond from Timothy Dalton to Brosnan or Craig
    - Add more villians from the series, Blofield would make a better final boss than Jaws
    - Modernize the soundtrack to 2011 standards. "Jungle soup" was one of the best tracks in the game :

I would want to see two remakes. The Nintendo 64 version of The World is Not Enough, this was a great game, have the real actors and actresses come back and do proper voice overs. Keep the multiplayer the same, but add online. TWINE on the N64 gave new life into EA making 007 games after the disasters on the Playstation

Tomorrow Never Dies was awful, the only thing the PS version of TWINE had going for it was the fact that it had clips from the movie and 007 Racing was unplayable.

The other game is 007: Nightfire, All this game needs, like I said for TWINE is new graphics, new voice overs, and online.

I wouldn't mind seeing GoldenEye Rogue Agent remade either. I loved the way the took this game. Everyone was SO upset that they named it GoldenEYe in the hopes that it was going to be a remake of the Rareware game from the N64. But I think it was well done the way it was. Kind of underrated I would add.
1, GE 2, CR 3, SF 4, TWINE 5, Spectre 6, TMWTGG 7, DAD 8, LALD 9, AVTAK 10, LTK 11, Octopussy 12, Moonraker 13, TLD 14, GF 15, QOS 16, Tomorrow 17, FYEO 18. TSWLM Not seen much: Dr. No, Russia, Thunderball, Twice, Majesty.

    1: Brosnan 2: Craig 3: Moore 4: Dalton 5: Connery and 6: Lazenby

I would change the whole ending to Everything Or Nothing. The end of the game where Bond kisses his girl outside the place he just destroyed is just awful. Bond should be in Jamaica at a resort and kissing the girl in bed. None of the Bond games (besides From Russia With Love) have had Bond in bed with a woman. That sucks. That shows that Sean Connery is the ultimate Bond, no doubt about it.
