Empire is reporting that Ed Zwick has cast Daniel Craig in his new movie, 'Defiance'. They also have a dig at CnB.

Ed Zwick, as director of the likes of The Last Samurai and Blood Diamond, has an unassailable talent for making the bloody and amoral look staggeringly beautiful. He also spins a darn good yarn. So we're very keen to see what he does with the second world war in his next movie Defiance, on which he'll also fulfill writing, producing and occasional tea-making duties.
Described as epic (natch) the film is the true story of four brothers in Nazi occupied Poland who flee to the Belarussian forest with a band of Jews and join forces with Russian Resistance fighters. Frankly, he had us at Belarussian.
Zwick's also secured himself a humdinger of a leading man in Daniel Craig. As far as we're concerned Craig can do no wrong these days. You craigisnotbond (ohyesheis) haters may fill the space below with statements to the contrary, but we will not see them and we will not respond.
Sounds promising. :007)

Hell, when has EON ever hired a guy this immediately employable? Craig's growing number of A-list parts seems to dwarf Connery's "Marnie" etc., Lazenby's...er, Moore's "Gold" etc., Dalton's...um, and is rapidly approaching Brosnan's ten year collection of leading roles done around his four Bond films, and Danny's only been Bond for a year! {[] Jeez dude, slow down! Just kinda weird, to have such a wanted Bond.
Very true...and, I fear, the reason that Craig will not be long in the Bond role. If his current workload and general high regard in the film world were to continue, would it surprise anyone if he walked away after three films, to fry bigger (or at least different) fish?
No, it wouldn't surprise me. But when he does decide to leave, I will gladly fetch his apron and send him off with a parting gift: some tartar sauce for his fish fry.

Followed, no doubt, by your calling up Rog and trying to get him to do his eighth so you can finally be happy again.
)
Well if you can get him back, of course...
No no, I've fully accepted the end of Sir Roger's tenure. And I have been satisfied with the Dalton and Brosnan eras that followed. In fact, this is the first time in Bond's history that I have been unhappy. Nothing personal against Craig; he's a fine actor. He's just not Bond to me. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of things I liked about CR, and I am optimistic that Craig will better capture the essence of Bond in his next two entries. However, I am not going to hold my breath.
Anyone got Roger's number?

This is a good tradition: Bond actors in war films (Connery in The Longest Day and A Bridge Too Far, Moore in The Wild Geese*)...
Yes, the suitors are lining up for (Formerly) Poor Danny...and keeping him beyond three Bonds will be a challenge---particularly if Eon are unable to keep the character interesting for him. Still, it's a good point made about Sony being involved; their pockets might be sufficiently deep...
* Okay, Wild Geese is a mercenary picture...but there's plenty of shooting and killing B-)

Soon, I hope.
Maybe THAT is the name of Bond 22?
In which case, Shirley Bassey MUST sing the title song.
