And J.J. Abrams new project looks interesting. I'm afraid of the Statue of Liberty (blame Chuck Heston and The Planet of the Apes), so the final part of this trailer creeped me out big time.
Jodie Foster is Charles Bronson. Sort of. This is the trailer for Neil Jordan's The Brave One.
Sort of? ) This is a remake of Death Wish with a woman in the lead. It looks interesting, and I'll go see it, but I hope that Jordan and co don't pass it off as original.

Looks a bit silly, but it could be fun.
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
Thank god he hasn't. I am a massive Jet Li fan and I think it would be an absolute tragedy if this extraordinary Martial Artist were to have retired. I think that he's utterly magnificent (he's also not such a bad actor) and I hope he continues to dazzle the world (i.e. me ) for many years to come. {[]
but here he is squaring up to Jason Statham in War.
Looks like fun.
It looks awesome. My first reaction upon reading your post and finding out that Jet hasn't retired was unadulterated delight; seeing the trailer only confirms how I feel. {[] {[]

Three previews at the Bourne Ultimatum this weekend really piqued my interest.
First off is 3:10 to Yuma, a remake of the classic Glenn Ford Western. This one has the kind of cast that might actually revive a sadly neglected genre. It's probably no surprise that the two leads -- Russell Crowe and Christian Bale -- are not American actors. Westerns I think still have some cachet overseas, at least for actors who grew up on these types of films. I hope it's a big success. If you get a chance to see the original, you should.
Second, American Gangster, in which Crowe (again) plays a New York City cop trying to bring down Denzel Washington's crime lord. It should be a pleasure seeing Washington return to bad guy territory. It's based on a true story. The two men in the picture later became friends in real life.
And finally, Eastern Promises. This may be the most interesting of all, despite the clunky title. David Cronenberg directs Viggo Mortensen as a soldier in the Russian mob in London. Looks pretty brutal and Mortensen looks terrific in it. None that soulful "shaggy dog" thing he usually does. I give it an "A" on wardrobe alone.
Here's the full trailer for Hitman. Looks good, but I could do without portentous voice-over guy talking mince. "Most believe his existence is a sin." Oh shut up.
Reservation Road - An Academy Award winning cast including Juaquin Phoenix, Jennifer Connelly :x and Mira Sorvina and an academy award screen writer Terry George. The story may be something of a downer, but the plot looks very compelling.
This looks like a ping-pong version of Enter the Dragon. ) It's got Christopher Walken in a Fu Manchu outfit and the trailer made me laugh like an idiot. It's called Balls of Fury and it might be beautiful.
Well, finally here's a trailer for Richard Kelly's follow-up to Donnie Darko. After the hostile reception it received at Cannes in 2006, this has been AWOL for some time. But if Southland Tales is a disaster, it looks like a fabulous disaster. I was intrigued by this trailer.
I love the eclectic casting too. The Rock, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Miranda Richardson and best of all Christopher Lambert. This has had a lot of bad press, which leads me to think a lot of the reviews coming out soon will be of the 'hey, you know, it's not that bad,' type.
I'm most interested in Robert Zemeckis' Beowulf, as I had a fleeting aquaintance with the story many years ago. It should be something to finally see it on the screen.
"Well, he certainly left with his tails between his legs."

You mean you missed the Christopher Lambert version a few years ago? You'd think it was just a post-apocalyptic B-movie with gratutious female nudity and added kung-fu, that paid no attention to the original text. ) It was quite fun though. I'm looking forward to the Zemeckis version too. Especially with Crispin Glover involved as Grendel.

I'm also looking forward to it. It should be great. {[]

Saw a trailer for a Disney Movie called Enchanted that I thought looked liked fun for the whole family. The storyline involves a fairy princess falling through a portal and ending up in present day New York. I laughed outloud a couple times during the trailer so perhaps the writing will be very clever. As a guy with kids I am always looking for something the whole family can enjoy.
I never thought I'd find myself looking forward to The Mummy 3, but they've cast Jet Li as a new villain, a Chinese Emperor on the rampage. Rob Cohen has also replaced Stephen Sommers as director. Cohen has put a picture on his website of the aforementioned MR Li about to land one on Brendan Fraser. This might be promising.

Awesome. Like you, I did't really care about it as I disliked the second film, but the casting of Jet Li (one of the greatest Martial Artists of all time and one of my all-time favourite actors) changes the rules completely. I would see Li in anything, as long as he fights. It certainly looks as if he'll be figting. {[] Can't wait.

There can only be.... five movies, a spin-off TV series, a spin-off TV series from the spin-off TV series, a children's cartoon, and an anime.
Here's the trailer for Highlander: The Source, the 5th movie in the franchise. Christopher Lambert has been pensioned off, but the series star Adrian Paul is present.

It looks pretty poor. And yet strangely I really want to see it.
My brother and I saw this turd on TV a few weeks ago. It has to be one of the worst movies ever made; and I'm talking Ed Wood quality here. The plot takes great liberties with established Highlander mythos, the characters behave in a very inconsistent manner, and the ending makes absolutely no sense at all. It is moderately interesting to watch but only in a "train wreck" kind of way. This thing was actually filmed several years ago but has languished because nobody wanted to release it. As such, it's gone straight to cable here in America.
I saw a couple of short trailers for Will Smith's I Am Legend during the ballgame last night; that looks like an interesting movie and has piqued my curiosity. It's based on a scifi-horror novel by Richard Matheson which was already filmed twice: as The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price, and The Omega Man with Charlton Heston. Both versions took a lot of liberties with the novel so I'll be curious to see what kind of a spin this new version puts on the story.
National Treasure Book of Secrets - The first National Treasure movie caught me by surprise, I went expecting little and was surprisingly greatly entertained. Saw the trailer for the Book of Secrets and I think it looks quite good. Nic Cage, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight, Helen Miren, Ed Harris and Harvey Keitel make for quite a cast. I will defintely be checking it out.
Jet Li was surely having a laugh when he said he was retiring. Because here he is in another film, his 3rd since he claimed to be quitting, and he's starring with Jackie Chan.
With the exception of Corpse Bride most of Tim Burton's work since Ed Wood in 94 has left me cold. But this looks very promising. Johnny Depp sings and slices in Sweeney Todd.
I recently saw a preview of Hitman. It looks absolutely extraordinary. I can not wait.

This remake of St Trinians looks questionable, but it has Rupert Everett in a dress, redheaded beauty Lily Cole, Russell Brand playing a spiv and Colin Firth getting thrown out a window. So I'm there. I'm so there.
I am Legend looks awesome. I am really looking forward to it. It seems very promising and Will Smith nearly always delivers. Plus, I read a really good article in TIME magazine talking about Will Smith and his rise to "power." Very interesting read, and I like what he is trying to do with this film, it is, in its own way, genre breaking.
Dario Argento hasn't been on form for some time, {although I quite liked Sleepless). This trailer for his new film, Mother of Tears seems to indicate a return to Suspiria style witchcraft. Here's hoping.
