Lately I have been very disappointed in the films being released by Hollywood, nothing has caught my interest enough to compel me to go to the cinema. However, James Cameron's new film Avatar looks quite interesting. Visually it looks quite stunning and the story (the little I know at this point) seems compelling. Hopefully, the 3D presentation works, I have had some issues with 3D films in the past. Anyway, I will be checking the film out when it comes out in December and hope for a good experience.
Anyway, I will be checking the film out this weekend and hoping for a good experience.
I too am really looking forward to seeing this film. I'm a huge James Cameron fan and Avatar IMO looks really amazing. When you do see it, please report back with what you think of it.
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
I've been reading that Avatar will clock in at something like 150 minutes, possibly longer. That seems a little long for a 3D movie to me what with the eye strain and all that. I'll probably be checking it out as well though I may wait a few days to make sure there are no complaints of patrons coming out of the theaters with splitting headaches.
Barry, I've read that there will be 2D showings of the movie as well, although it supposedly was designed as a 3D feature and that is Cameron's preferred way of viewing it.
If anyone does decide to watch it in 3D, be sure to sit as close to the center of the screen as possible and don't sit too far back as the 3D effects typically work best when the screen fills most of your peripheral vision.
The trailer looks pretty good. I love Day-Lewis; I think he's one of the greatest actors of all time (although his acting in the last scene in There Will Be Blood was horrible IMO), and I really enjoyed Chicago. I also like most of the women in this film, apart from your favourite (formerly) redhead. :v If Nine turns out like Chicago, I'll be happy, but if it turns out like Memoirs of a Geisha, which was so boring, I won't be so happy. Either way, there are a few other films I'm looking forward to more.
BTW, I've changed my mind about Bad Lieutenant. While I didn't love the original film, I was less than impressed with the original trailer that I saw. However I've read some great reviews, and I think it could turn out to be a really interesting film.

Thanks for the tips Tony, the last 3D film I saw, which was only about 100 minutes, did give me a slight headache. Near the end of the film I kept adjusting my glasses hoping to reduce my eye strain. I tend to prefer sitting half way or farther back when watching a film, perhaps I will try sitting a little closer.
In all seriousness this looks like it could be damn good, that is if the trailer is anything to go by.
"I tried to bring the movies back to something that was more like Ian Fleming" - Timothy Dalton
"Bond was escapism, but not meant to be imitated in real life." - Sir Roger 'The Legend' Moore
"The best research for playing a drunk is being a British actor for 20 years." - Sir Michael Caine

I do love Scott and Crowe together, I just hope it doesn't ruin Robin Hood: Prince of Theives for me. I went to see that 6 times in the theatres with my dad when I was in grade school.
Ridley Scott has made a film about some bloke called Robin Hood.
I love Russell Crowe (easily one of the greatest actors to ever have lived), and Ridley Scott is one of my favourite directors, but I can't say that this trailer completely thrills me. It doesn't really say Robin Hood to me.
Welcome to the best Bond site on the net Mr Hood. {[] I had no idea that the legendary Robin Hood looked exactly like Michael Caine.

Some years ago, I was watching an interview on Parkinson, and Caine referred to it, although I had since forgotten about it. JD, while I love Caine (one of the greatest actors of all time and incapable of delivering a poor performance), many people who like Caine wouldn't have known about this. You need to be of either a certain generation ( :v), a certain nationality or particularly interested in comedy and things like this.

Very impressive. Looks like Scorsese cutting loose and making schlock, which is a vast improvement on the stuff he's being doing recently, regardless of whether they won Oscars or not. Great cast too. Max Von Sydow, Michelle Williams, Mark Ruffalo and Jackie Earle Haley. I'm there.
I'm looking forward to it, but I hope Leo doesn't annoy me too much with his forced Boston accent.
Loved the first Wall Street film and looking forward to this one, despite the presence of Shia LeBouf. Both director Oliver Stone and Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko are back and Charlie Sheen as Bud Fox will make a cameo. Really hope this is as good as the first one which had some great lines, like "Greed is good" and "You don't measure a man by the size of his wallet".
Well, I'll probably be snickered at for saying this, but I'm looking forward the the 'A-Team' movie. I loved the comic-book appeal of the TV show, and looking to see what they achieve with the film. If anything, it might make me feel like a ten-year-old again.

I'm looking forward to this too. I'm hoping for/expecting a leave your brains at the door kind of experience, so if thats what we get then great. If it turns out to be a damn good film too then even better.
1- On Her Majesty's Secret Service 2- Casino Royale 3- Licence To Kill 4- Goldeneye 5- From Russia With Love
I am very much looking forward to The Avengers, having watched and enjoyed all the films leading up to The Avengers Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America, I am hooked and eagerly await The Avengers. The little teasers at the end of each preceeding film were good marketing as they always perked my interest. I will be there opening weekend.

Not a lot of people know that.
(That's going to make no sense unless you like Mr Caine)
Who never actually said that line !
It was said by Peter Sellers imitating Michael's voice for his answerphone !
I've heard him say he never said it. I didn't realise it was Peter Sellers that came up with the phrase though.
I also forgot it is Sir Caine. ;%
Now that's an idea! Sir Michael Caine as Robin Hood!
And thanks for the welcome Dan Same!
