CR 67 - A Sociopolitical Commentary?

Whilst trying to scrounge up information on CR 67, especially on the superb soundtrack, I stumbled across this article.

Here it explains why certain elements of Casino Royale could be explained as sociopolitical satire and what the respective characters such as The Detainer - Daliah Lavi (a person who uses her sexuality as her weapon, but other than that is useless in any other situation if her male counterpart won't destroy himself).

I find it a very interesting read, and I can't wait to hear the discussion that it will spark!

Great find JFF. I thought that was interesting. The chap who wrote that makes a persuasive argument that CR 67 is worth re-evaluating. I agree with him that it's a fascinating film, for many of the reasons he mentions, but also because of the problems that arose during its production. I'd love to see a decent DVD release given with loads of extras on it. What the author can't do is convince me that it's a great film, even if he does reference Walter Benjamin, Leni Riefenstahl, Susan Sontag and Jean Luc-Godard in support. (That's some pretty fancy reading and watching.)
