Not everything on Wikipedia can be 100% relied on and I'd doubt this one. According to Andrew Lycett's Fleming bio, Vesper is named after a rum cocktail. This story is very similar to one in Ivar Bryce's Fleming memoir You Only Live Once, published some years earlier than the Lycett book.
I pride myself on an extensive knowledge of the subject, having read all the biographies and any articles I can find, yet I frequently learn new pieces of trivia and information.
