The records are yet to be confirmed but the jump was from approx 128,000 ft and the maximum speed in freefall was approx 700mph (around the speed of sound). Unfortunately, I missed the launch and joined the coverage at about 20,000 feet, from then on I sat riveted to the screen. The moment Felix stepped out to jump and then jumped I was really tense, I can only imagine what he must have been feeling.
The coverage was brilliant, some amazing footage and camera work, especially when Felix was in freefall. According to the commentator, the BBC and National Geographic channel will be broadcasting documentary programmes on this within the next month or so.

This was such an amazing event... I phoned my ex to make sure my son watched it (he's 7) and we spoke about it on the way to school... his eyes lit up when he was talking about it... and he also said
"Yeh, but Mum, he didn't talk about how he was feeling, being all that way up. I mean how must that feel?" and coming from my son, (who's Dad is Mr Unfeeling) was heartwarming....

Although on the radio this morning... there was a sound clip from Felix... saying
"Trust me, when you stand up there on top of the world, you become so humble.
