IEU2D's Bondathon (Video Uploaded!)

It's 9:44am. Me and my friend are exactly half way through our Bond marathon. We began at 2:15 with Dr No, and haven't stopped watching, and don't intend to untill the credits roll after DC's first uttering of the immortal line.

I'm tired, very tired. I allowed myself a small nap between LALD and TMWTGG, but otherwise, I'm not coping too well. Making things worse is the the fact that my friend seems fine, and is currently enthusiastically taking part in the age-old Connery vs. Moore debate, whilst I occasionally murmer "Connery".

Please, words of encouragement are needed, we've got another 24 hours of this left, and we're running low on energy drinks and Milky Bar Yoghurts. We need morale boosting words, people!

And here's the real treat. Since the beginning of the Bondathon we've been filming the event, and making a very exciting documentary, charting our descent into madness as we endure double-taking pigeons and a "sex scene between two spaceships", and of course, our assessment of each film as it finishes. And AJB007.co.uk is quite heavily featured in the film ;)

So, help us, give us hope, keep us going, and then reap the rewards tomorrow as you are treated to the most exciting documentary of your time tomorrow!

UPDATE: Apologies for the long wait, but due to computer virus problems etc, this video was much delayed

But now, celebrating the 1st Birthday of Casino Royale in the UK, here is the footage of our Bond Marathon!

AJB gets some considerable screen time ;)

Good luck to you. There's no way I could watch all 21 Bond's in a row!

Will you make this documentary available for us to watch somehow?? It could be fun to watch. . .

Damnit, running out of memory on the camera.
TSWLM has just finished, and we've recieved some nice shoutouts from around my Geek connections on the web.

I don't think we'll fit the shout-outs on the doc in the end, we'll try though!

Is this documentary going to last as long as 21 Bond films back-to-back plus nap? 'Cause if so, I'll just take your word for it ;)

(I'd still swap you a desk in a very quiet office in a shipyard, in a rundown part of Glasgow, on an extremely wet morning for a place on your sofa. It's got nice views - Scotstoun tower blocks to the front, Braehead shopping centre to the rear behind two nearly-finished destroyers and an Asian gunboat. Won't comment on the company...)

As for encouraging words...your bed is calling ;)

    Shout-out filmed ;)

Ha - now that would be very exciting!
Unfortunately we've only filmed amusing moments within the films, our opinions every now and again, and a little assesment of each film after it ends.

Oh god - if i needed help then, I certainly do now. Moore has just saved Tanya Roberts from the burning building. Bloody fool.

Good time to nap then..oh no, wait...the Dalton years are ahead. That might be a better time. :D :))

Why didn't you guys start eaelier in the day yesterday? You'd be done by sunrise ...tomorrow? You will never make it! Are you pausing to eat?

The last time I did a Bond marathon was 1990 (that was a whole 5 Bond films ago). You're moving into uncharted territory to me. (we survived with the help of a pool table).

I've already decided that if I do it again, it will be through the use of viewing two televisions simultaneously. Is is too late for you to rig up another set?
  • i expect u2 diei expect u2 die LondonPosts: 583MI6 Agent
Monique, with the way things are panning out at the moment, we're hoping to finish around 9:00 tomorrow morning. And you're right about the Dalton years, I'm feeling far less inclined to fall asleep now!

I've just got to cope with the Terminator/Bond entries that the 90's threw at us. And then there's DAD.

But, the golden prize is, of course, CR...

I once considered doing what you're doing, but I'm afraid with both work and school, I simply don't have 50 straight hours of free time. :#

All the same, it sounds like you're having a great time. I can't wait to see your documentary! :D

Lucky for you, TB is the fourth official film in the series. Had it come later, I doubt that you would have survived the first underwater scene with Angelo and the theft of the nuclear weapons. :v

According to mY calculations, he should be just about done with CR. It should have 40 minutes to go. Let's hope you didn't fall asleep. I can't wait for this review. If I ever do a bondathon, it will be over a few days. Maybe 3 or 4 days. I do have vacation coming up the week of July 8th. Hmmmmmmm....

P.S. ieu2d, are you still awake? Do we have to send in the java team?

    And its finished!

    Hurrah!

In my tired state, I almost missed the bus as I trundled towards the station as soon as CR finished, leaving me 10 minutes.

I think I've caught up with a bit of sleep now, time to put this video together! ;)

Nice one! As much as I love Bond I think I would only make 3 or 4. Can't wait to see your vid.

Very sorry for the long wait - computer viruses had a hand in this delay

Here, at long last (and on the 1st Birthday of Casino Royale in the UK) is the video:

Nice stuff - I couldn't do a Bond marathon like that. I battle watching two Bonds in a row! Seriously, I just wouldn't enjoy the films if I watched them on the trot. I would get frustrated as each one would probably seem worse than the last (except CR of course!)

    Anyway - good work again.

    Thanks :)

There was a point during the later Moore films (as you can see!) where they seemed to get worse, and worse, and worse... {:)

Again, thanks for the comments, guys. The video has become quite well known around my college :007)

Eager, of course, to reach higher goals, my friend and I have been considering which marathon to attempt this summer.

'LOST' has been suggested. This fills me with trepidation - anybody fancy working out how many hours that would take? :o
  • youknowmynameyouknowmyname Gainesville, FL, USAPosts: 703MI6 Agent
Good on ya mate, wonderful job! I must ask, did you skip DAD? It seems that you did in the video, just checking. If so are you planning on trying it again and watching all 21?

I am planning a Bond marathon re-try, did this with some non-Bond fanatics two years ago and only made it through OHMSS.

As for other marathon ideas -- Lord of the Rings:Extended Editions (done it once and am about to do it again, well worth the 12 hours). Also the Star Wars six are good. Harry Potter is another good one, but I've seen you've already done that one, I really enjoyed watching the Harry Potters simultaneously, good value. I also enjoyed an Indiana Jones and a Batman marathon. You might also try a Superman marathon.

LOST would be a daunting task, certainly. The episodes run at an average of 38 minutes. With 69 episodes in the first three seasons that would mean about 2,622 minutes of watching time, approximately 43 hours and 42 minutes. If you do that, tell me I am up to that challenge and I would be there if I lived in the UK!
