Theme song for Bond 22

Apologies if there is already a thread for this but i couldnt find one.

Anyway, i have just heard Amy Winehouse's album and thought she has such a classic and unique voice she'd do a great Bond theme. Thoughts? :)

    David Arnold agrees with you.....

    Amy To Do Bond?

A lot of things make us giddy with excitement.

Daniel Craig's glistening body in Casino Royale and Amy Winehouse's sultry voice are some of them.

So you could imagine our delight when we heard Amy may just sing the next 007 theme tune.

While nothing's been confirmed, David Arnold - the man who composed the last three Bond songs - is a big fan of the star and is looking to bring her on board.

"Amy Winehouse did the best record of last year," he is quoted as saying in the Daily Express.

"I haven't asked her yet, but I think she'd be good."

David also dished a bit of scoop on the latest 007 outing.

"The next film will be in 2008, and we're almost finished with the script," he said.

"We haven't a title yet, but anything without death, dying tomorrow or dies would be fine by me!"

Bring it on, well, actually, mostly just bring on Daniel Craig in his swimming trunks again (please).

For the record, I think Amy Winehouse would be terrific for a Bond theme, even though it would mean another female. Then again, they let a guy have a go last time and look how awful that was!!! :)) :))

I just heard amy winehouse a week ago and she will be perfect for the bond song... If you haven't heard amy sing then listen to her song, 'You Know I'm no Good'. Her voice is perfect for Bond, and she's British.

Her voice and style are perfect for Bond. This better happen.

I don't mind the idea of her doing a theme song.

I've always thought Annie Lennox should do one, doubt we'll ever see that now though.

Amy Winehouse or Annie Lennox both would be great. I've wanted to hear Bjork do one ever since I heard her sing "Play Dead". I hunted up her version of "You Only Live Twice" on the web and thought it was really good too.

Agreed. I love 'Play Dead.' Such a good song. Pity it was on the soundtrack to such a terrible film though. (The Young Americans)

Never heard amy before but I will look at you tube.
Must it always be someone who is welknown? For the producers?
So not, maybe a suggestion: Natalia (Druyts)still not know international but they call her 'the flemisch Tina Turner' She gives in 2006 ten concerts with the pointer sisters and in 2008 she meets En Vogue and Shaggy...

Yes, that's pretty much the case. Some of the decision-making is done by the money men (concerning who's signed to certain labels which are in league with the fim company) and a lot by the marketing people (a song which is played a lot on radio/TV generates advertising for the film).

Not a great deal of choice is given to the creatives- eg David Arnold wasn't happy with the Madonna song at all, not that he was alone in feeling that way.

I'd like David Bowie to sing and co-write it with the film's composer.

Tragically he's the very opposite of a huge fan and has made it pretty clear that he wouldn't do it, I'm sure I remember him saying. He refused to play Zorin on the same basis, I think.

I've always had the impression that his aversion was geared more toward acting in a Bond film than in doing the music---a proposition about which I've never heard him comment.

He used to attend the Bond premieres, back in the day...it's too bad if he truly dislikes the films at this point, to the extent that he'd turn down such a prestigious gig if offered.

Then again, he's hardly the young ones' flavour of the moment...So, as ever, it's merely a fond wish on the part of a few Bowie fans :#

I didn't want to spend five months watching my stunt double fall off mountains. - That's his quote regarding Zorin and AVTAK. LOL! (It's from the Bowie wikipedia page and unreferenced atm, though)

Well, if Bowie refused... then how about having Depeche Mode perform and co-write the song? No matter what the movie's like (and it'll be good, I am sure), such a theme would no doubt give it a dark, cool edge.

I would hope they'd consider approaching Bowie; I'd be curious to get his opinion of CR, at least. After all, it's a new era---not exactly AVTAK :o Thank God {:)

I think I remember seeing Jonathan Ross asking him about it fairly recently and he said that he didn't like any of that stuff. I'm not 100% certain, though. He also said he'd turn down knighthoods etc. too.

I'm a fan of David Bowie, but I no longer think he is right for Bond. Younger singers should be used instead.
One example is Mira Craig. She is norwegian-american and not yet famous in the US, but among norwegian artist i think she is teh one with the best chanses of an international career.
She has a distinctive deep and husky voice, writes her own material, knitts her own stage outfitts (not much thread needed ...), dissatrous stage-diver and famous for her ass-shaking routine and happens to be popular among american rappers.
Just listen (and feast your eyes) at this:

I don't know... I had never listened to her music before and watching that left me with a certain stiffness.

But seriously, intriguing though she is, isn't she a bit cheap? And I doubt she can wash off her the stage dive affair. After that, it's kind of difficult to (be selected) to compete with (Dame) Shirley Bassey.

By the time she makes it internationally i think her stage diving skills are forgotten. And I'm shure you're not the first to feel a slight stiffness after seeing her ...:D

I don't particularly care for Mira Craig, especially for a Bond theme. Amy Winehouse IMO would be great (unique voice, I think she could really belt out a good Bond theme) however her life is presently a shambles and I don't think EON would take a gamble on her or if she is even capable in her present state of writing or performing. It's a real shame what destruction people will do to themselves.

I have 2 suggestions: Imogen Heap or Goldfrapp.

Ms. Heap's music usually has a cinematic feel to it, and her voice is wonderful, so she is a good candidate.

Goldfrapp have been mentioned before Bond21 as possible performers, and I still want them to have a shot at a Bond title song at some point.
