NightFire problem

Hey Guys-

I've played most of the 007 games to completion, but finishing NF seems impossible.I've made it all the way through to the final level--and that's where I'm running into trouble. No matter what I do,I'm just not fast enough to stop those missiles from taking off.Talk about frustration...

Are there any pointers you more experienced gamers could share with me?I'd really appreciate any help you'd be willing to offer.

Thanks in advance.:)

P.S.:I'm playing the PS2 version of NF.

Man, I haven't played Nightfire in forever, could you be a little more specific about where you are stuck, maybe I'll be able to remember?

I'm floating in space, just outside the bad guy's space station. The station has a series of missiles on it and they're going to be fired individually. These absolutely have to be kept from launching or the level's over.

At the same time I'm trying to deal with the missiles--which can only be destroyed at the precise moment each of them is getting ready to launch(this is the only period when they're vulnerable to my raygun)--a group of Drake's armed guards come floating out of the space station and begin shooting at me.

The way the level's designed, as 007,I have to adjust to the lack of gravity--plus deal with these other two problems.

I've tried to fire down on the bad guys and the missiles from high above the space station. However, my raygun either has a limited range, or I'm just not handling it properly.I might try this position again anyway, because being near the station and very close to the missiles, only makes me an easy target for the enemy marksmen--I've tried that position more times than I care to count-LOL.

    Does this sound familiar?

Yep, now that you mention it. I remember staying on the station's surface, and whenever a missile needs to be dealt with, deal with it immediately from right next to it. Also, keep checking the two "portholes", because those are where enemies spawn, and they are easy pickings if they are still coming out from the holes.

    Hope that helps!

WG, I think Nightshooter's advice is all you need; but if you continue to have problems here's a page with some hints, FAQs and walkthrus on the game. Hope it helps and good luck:

That was a difficult level. I recall doing things the way Nightshooter handled them. But the real trick came afterwards. I kept biting the (space)dust without even understanding why. I won't spoil the surprise for you, WG.

Nightfire for me wasn't terribly difficult (except for Chain Reaction X-() but how I always beat the next level is know when the certain missiles are going to fire and be as near to them as you can. If you go off in a weird direction, press your equivalent of the Gamecube's A to stabilize yourself. The astronaut guys aren't as much of a problem as you'd think, just avoid them and kill them when its convenient for you.

The annoying part is beating Drake, until you get the hang of it. My strategy is float as far down as you can after destroying the missiles so you face Drake. As Drake begins to fire, fire at him and move up, as his missiles follow you. Keep blasting away at him and avoid the rockets and you'll beat him easy.

I feel your pain, Mr. Garvin, and I stopped playing that PS2 game at precisely that point---several years ago :# I haven't even loaded it since...

Although Loeff Jr and Loeff III play the multiplayer part of Nightfire to death; it's hands down their favourite Bond multiplayer...

It's torment, isn't it? :)Y'know,Loeffs I actually gave up on NightFire once it looked as if the "Night Shift" level was completely unplayable;the guards("who are YOU?")kept getting up.All the time. Those sleep darts were just too ineffective. So,I grudgingly set the game aside.

Then about a year ago,JFF mentioned in passing in a thread somewhere within this forum, that if you slugged the nightwatchmen, they'd go down and they'd stay down.Lo and behold,it worked!
(It pays to check out as many threads as possible.)

Of course, the other NightFire levels are fairly easy-- provided you're patient enough and accurate enough. However, the final NightFire level makes any level of GoldenEye:Rogue Agent seem like a piece of cake...

    Oh, the frustration....:))

PS-I recently noticed in the game credits that Danny Bilson and Paul deMeo-who later produced the "Flash" TV series-wrote the scenarios for both NightFire and Agent Under Fire. And Swingin' '60s starlet Samantha Eggar(!) plays "M" in NF.

    As Mr.Spock might say,"Fascinating."
